This hotel is based above the Dunnes shop which is part of a shopping complex containing other shops, cafes and bars. You need to take the lift to the second floor to access the hotel. Reception is surprisingly pleasant - tiled corridors and pot plants, and the staff are... more

First Class Hotel! Just spent a week at this hotel and I have to say that it is excellent. The food was good - full English breakfast available every day with proper sausages, not the Frankfurter style! Evening meals were good for buffet style and the fish dishes especially... more

If you don’t live in a town do not book this hotel. We had a room overlooking a noisy side street with two bars below, although the place was clean and tidy.
The swimming pool is on the roof if you can find it! As the hotel is on the top of a shopping centre.
The food was absolutely awful as stated by the previous reviewer.

The hotel is only a few minutes walk from Fuengirola's train and bus stations as well as shops and restaurants. You can catch the train from the Airport to Fuengirola for 1.75 euro. It takes about half and hour. The hotel does not look much from the outside but on the... more

Clean but not quiet.
Stayed for two weeks in one of the three rooms with a sea view. Great staff, very, very clean throughout. Got a great rate for room including breakfast, but the noise at any time outside 4-8 a.m can get on your nerves. Buffet breakfast was good, ate in the evening once (night we arrived),rather walk 2 minutes to the restaurants and spend less money on a better meal. Very handy for the excellent bus and train service. At the end of the day it does exactly what it says on the tin!!
Would highly recommend
Was a little worried about this Hotel as someone had told me the day before we left it was above Dunnes Department Store, no need to have worried, being above Dunnes actually helped us locate it. What a lovely Hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful and the Hotel was spotless. Would highly recommend. We only went B&B and this was ok nothing exceptional but nothing really bad either, for the money we paid we would have been pretty sad to have complained. The only downfall was that it rained. Apparantly March is the rainy month.
surprising wee gem
My husband & I booked a last minute break with Globespan from 17-22 Feb and were most pleasantly surprised by this very nice hotel. We have been to the resort before - even shopped in Dunnes - but never noticed the hotel above. It has a discreet entrance down a side street and it is not your typical hotel inside either. Built round an internal balcony, all the rooms lead off from there. So, very few rooms have their own balcony. In fact, our room had a bench outside it. And may I say, even on a Feb.afternoon, a relaxing place to partake of a little light sherry! Just perfect, specially if you want to blether with passing fellow guests, if you so fancy. The room itself was large, well furnished as was the bathroom (which even had a window) And the staff were all most helpful& especially the young receptionist - he was scrummy! We had chosen Las Rampas as a city break at the seaside because of its proximity to the bus station &the railway too. 5 mins tops to both, so don't waste your time with a taxi. And as it is only about 35 mins from the airport & 1.75 euros in the train, a bargain there too. A wee surprising "extra"was the discovery of a little RC church within the complex. St. Joseph's Church is open for daily Mass all year except June till Sept. Now, how many hotels can boast their own chapel?
Loved the Las Rampas
After reading previous reviews we were a bit unsure about staying above a shopping centre & obviously noise was a concern. I am pleased to say that this was never an issue as for the whole week we never heard a thing. The hotel is situated in the centre of Fuengirola close to the shops & bars & a few hundred yards away from the beach. It is a lovely Andalucian hotel & i have to admit could be one of the cleanist ive been to, & trust me ive seen a few. I cant comment on the food as i didnt actually take the opportunity to eat there but the restaurant did look clean. The rooms were lovely not that we spent much time in it as we were busy exploring the sights of the costa del sol. The week was very hot so you can imagine the relief to find an air conditioning unit in the room. The balcony was massive which was handy. Staff were also very friendly.
Loved this hotel!
The hotel is very clean. The staff are always cleaning. Great location, you are in the center of everything, shopping, beaches, bus & train. The staff are friendly. Great decor, nice spanish feal. Enjoyed my 10th anniversary there.
Las Rampas Fuengirola excellent holiday
Just spent a week in this lovely hotel. Staff excellent, maids exceptional, cleanliness superb, rooms spacious and look just like picture on the internet. Pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and had no complaints on the choice offered. Location superb, looking to book again.
One of the best hotels I've stayed in!
This hotel is really excellent value for money. Great position, great decor, decent food. I stayed at the Las Rampas for a week with my friend. We were really impressed. The rooms are very spacious, stylish and clean. Maid came in every day. The food was decent and varied. The hotel is about 5 minutes from the beach. The hotel is approximately 5 minutes from the bus & train stations. Fuengirola is a shoppers paradise - millions of shoe & clothes shops. The hotel is a 3* - I would rate it a 4*. I would definitely go back to this hotel.
Good and bad points
Me and my partner have just returned to England from out trip to fuengirola. The hotel interior is impressive and clean. Maids come in and tidy every day. Reception staff speak good english and were very friendly. Nice pool, not small but not big, adequate for a 3* hotel. We found it very strange being above a shopping centre, and learnt very quickly that you need to be a heavy sleeper to be able to get a good nights rest! Unfortunate for my partner, he isn't, so was woken by the crowds outside late at night. Our neighbours were noisy - blaring music and v.loud snoring! but not at the hotels fault of course. We had a balcony which looked out at macdonalds where all the youths gather (only on a saturday night though) I would advise going without half/full board. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. The kitchens looked clean and hygenic. Dinner is a buffet. The best thing we tasted were the chips! Its ok if you aren't really bothered about what you eat. But i certainly wouldn't pay again for it, we ended up eating out every night, better variety in the local cafes/restaraunts and better quality. Weather was better than expected being the start of April. The first day was a thunderstorm, but the rest of the week was sunny and 3 or 4 days of sunbathing weather! Just perfect weatherwise. Fuengirola as a place was quite crowded by buildings but all the better for shopping and keeping occupied. A bus station a couple of minutes by foot from the hotel also does trips and coach excursions around the country. Both of us went to Gibraltar for 20 euros and got 500 cigarettes for under 20 euros! Also great waves on the beach
Loved this hotel, fab location
We went to this hotel in October 2004, three adults, a 13 year old and an 8 year old. We all absolutely loved the place, probably more for the location than the actual hotel. Good points: Perfect location, right in the centre of Fuengirola, within walking distance of just about everything. Hotel was very clean and well attended to by the maids. The rooms do not have balconies which at first we thought we would hate, however, they are mainly set around lovely little terraces which are well stocked with pretty plants and flowers and there is a water fall running down the centre of the hotel. It was very pretty indeed and we got some lovely pics! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and we didn't miss having a balcony. The foyer of the hotel was lovely. and comfortable enough to lounge in if necessary. Oh, and the irish bar 'Ri-Ra' nearby was extremely cosy and welcoming. We all loved it! Bad points: I would imagine as we went when it was fairly quiet, the location would make it pretty noisy in the middle of the summer. It is not in the centre of party-land or anything like that, but it is above a small shopping complex which I would imagine can get busy. It was busy with locals on Saturday morning, but the low level of noise was actually quite nice to listen to. The pool was very small and the sun loungers few. The pool area was also very enclosed by other buildings which kept it quite shaded so the water was absolutely freezing! (Mind you, it was October). I would say if the pool is a big feature for you this is not the hotel to stay in. As we tended to be out and about alot it didn't really bother us. (And the very nice beach is about 5 minutes away). The breakfast was mediocre and by the end of the week we were a bit fed-up of eating the same things. As we were B&B we did not have any other meals there, but if the board was anything to go by, they looked pretty dire! All in all we loved this holiday and would go back to this hotel again tomorrow.
Great location, nice hotel
Just returned from a weekend break at the beginning of September. THe hotel is in a great location in the centre of the resort about 250m to the beach. Its built in Andalucian style - lots of greenery. It is actually located above the Las Rampas shopping centre but there was no night time noise. The pool area is not huge but adequate for a 3* hotel. We didnt use the restaurant so cannot comment. The rooms are a nice size and all air-conditionned. This is basically a nice 3* hotel. My only negative comment would be that there are no balconies but as you are in the middle of Fuengirola, you would only be looking at other buildings anyway.
