Resort great, especially if you like all types of skiing and other winter activities.
The cottages are as described but are at least a 15 min walk across the frozen lake to Ruka centre.
Holiday reps are based in Ruka but don't have transport, so if any problems then you can be stuck for some while.
Our problems surrounded opening/locking the cabins and on one evening, approx 11 pm, we were stuck outside are cabin unable to gain entry, temp -15. Luckily we went with another family who could put us up until problem resolved.
Handyman comes from Kuusamo which is approx 30 mins away. Anyway had a great time here lots to do, albeit very dark.
