This was like paradise. My sister and I relaxed and enjoyed the whole area. Humming birds were beautiful. The fish had us spellbound. The hotel was all we expected and more, the first time we have not paid for a safe or towels ! The staff made everything as lovely as possible, with beaming smiles. The food was excellent, spoilt for choice. Take insect repelent. Remenber to tip, it will be more than worth while.

My husband and myself have just got back on 16 October from 2 weeks at the Sol Cayo Coco. What can I say - overall the hotel is a little tired, although the hotel did inform us that they are closing down next May so that the hotel can have a facelift.

We were not sure what to expect when we arrived due to hurricane Ike hitting the hotel. I must admit we were pleasantly surprised that they have done quite a lot of the repairs. Firstly, let me warn you that you will need to take enough mosquito repellent with you as they are quite active at the moment in the day time as well as night time. The pool is kept clean as is the whole of the hotel. There is a lot of different food choices in the restaurant. We did not suffer any tummy upsets whilst we were there. In your room you will find a bottle of water - keep the bottle as you will need to refill it on a daily basis as it is the only bottle that you get. You can get it refilled at the lobby bar as well as the snack bar. The food at the snack bar is excellent, you can get pisas, beefburgers, chips and hotdogs.

All the hotel workers are very friendly, especially the sun lounger guy on the beach. He is there early in the morning, but we did not need to rush down to the beach and reserve our beds as there were plenty to go around. If you have any clothes that you do not want to bring back with you, the hotel staff are very grateful for any that you pass onto them. They are also short on toilettries so do take some spare out with you.

All in all we had a great holiday.

there must be some moaning winnies out there, who want english food whilst abroad...yawn yawn yawn.

we had a fab time, the hotel was in need of an upgraede which is why it is closing next year for a while, but as you only sleep in your room whats the fuss about them. everyday sat on beautiful white beaches, best beach on island compared to neighbouring hotels.

nice wine if you managed to get the Argie stuff, ok the food not the best but it kept us going and our teenager sons, if you want fine foods pay an extra £1500 per person for that and dont book cheapies. this holiday was cheaper for us than Egypt and the Med and worth every penny

2 adults and 2 childre 14 & 7.Very apprehensive about this holiday before we left because of the poor reviews and unfortunately most of them were true. The hotel and the surroundings are in desperate need of a refurb. The pool was rarely cleaned, my son Jack was laid up for 2 days with an infection in both years because of it, and that cost us £52.00 for antibiotics. The toilets around the complex allways gave of a poor smell!!! The rooms were spacious but as i say were not of 4 star rating. But on the plus side the service we received was first class, from the maid right through to the restaurant staff and the pool bar. Special mention to Orlando.Fab bloke.Entertainment was good but with them speaking in Spanish then translating it took ages especially as majority of us were British. The beaches were fantastic especially the one too the left of the hotel across the wooden bridge, clear sea and white sands.Would not rush back too Cayo Coco.

Well, what a fantastic enjoyable stay we had. we stayed for a week during valentines. IT was un-wordable. I really don't know how to explain how amazing it was. The beach was FANTASTIC. The food was great, the facilities were great. The Staff was amazing. We had Henry as our bell boy and he is something else. We went on a tour to the City of Moron and it was excellent. We could walk without our guide(Collin) to a certain distance. We had the same waiter every day(Blanca). She knew exactly what to get us without even having to ask. The Specialty restaurants we very very good. The only bad thing(but we dealt with it) was we had two days that were really windy. But hey, thats the chance you take when you go somewhere. For other folks i would have to say, GO! you will really enjoy yourselves. You can also walk to either two or three other resorts and use there facilities except their rooms. I would go back there in a heartbeat.!

After reading all the reviews we were really worried. But on arrival and after our first few days, we could not of asked for a better holiday. In fact it was one of the best holidays that we had, had as a family. The staff were excellent, very accomodating. We met lots of people, they were all friendly too!!

We took my son 13 years and his friend 13 years and they had the time of their lives. In fact we didnt see them the whole 2 weeks really as there was so much for them to do and they were so safe, my husband and I had a very relaxing holiday.

Dolphins on the beach in the mornings, cocktails out of this world, flowing all day! the beach was paradise, clear waters, white sand, what more could you ask for.

The accomodation was fine, needed a bit of a lift, but that is happening throughout 2009, but fine to sleep in and get ready.

The staff were amazing, especially the gardeners, so friendly and helpful.

All in all this holiday was fantastic going to book for 2010, as it was so good!!

Recommend this holiday for all......

Dont take any notice of the negative reviews, as a holiday is what you make it. You could not ask for anymore, we have absolutely no complaints and thought it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*******************

I’ve got to say how awful the hotel was, firstly the food was not too a high standard and the amount of people including myself with stomach upsets during the stay was alarming, secondly our rooms were not kept to a high standard, beds were made but sheets were not changed as their was sand building up at the bottom of the bed.

I was a bit apprehensive going after reading some of the reviews, but this hotel is fab, we really enjoyed all aspects it looked just like the photo in the brochure. The staff were really helpfull and kind, food was top rate, and the room was to die for, we were told they were closing for six months next year for a refurb, but we could not really see any part of the complex that could be deemed as unpleasant. You really dont need to take anything with you as all towels for beach and room are supplied and changed daily if you wish, I would also recommend the trip to havana it is a must to see the tropicana show. Not much to spend your money on no shops, so if you take children i would suggest to take lilo's and water games as there is no place you can buy these things.

Well where would you like me to start about this hotel !!!!!!!. This is know where near a 4 star hotel as thomas cook advertised, it more a british 2 star.

BAD POINTS : 2 hrs to check in. Rooms stinking of damp, went to reception to complain but they didn't want to know. FOOD WASN'T THE BEST !!!!. SWIMMING POOL HARDLY CLEANED. EAR INFECTIONS (whole family). WORKERS ASKING FOR CLOTHES, MONEY ETC, I COULD GO ON !!!!!!!!!.

GOOD POINTS : Beaches were awsome and i really mean that. entertainment fantastic. THAT WAS ABOUT IT REALLY !!!!!!!!.

IF I WERE TO GO BACK I WOULD GO NEXT DOOR TO THE MELIA HOTEL NEXT DOOR BECAUSE THAT IS A PROPER 4 STAR.

I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THE HOTEL TO ANYONE BUT I WOULD DEFO RECOMEND CUBA.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at sol cayo coco. We went there with 4 friends (3 Couples). We found our room not to be the cleanest, our balcony did not have a clean through out our holiday, although our friends said theirs was ok. We did have a few problems while there with some of the staff especially the bar staff at night, not wanting to make cocktails or coffee. We found if you tip well you get good service if you dont the service is not so good and every body wants tips so be carefull this is were most of our money went. We also found that the pool was not very clean and most people that had been in it was suffering with ear infections, we did not see it cleaned at any time (so be carefull with children the dr is expensive if you need antibiotics). The food was fine a good range but be aware if you want to book the a la carte. we tried to book but it is only open every other day and you have to book the day before you want to go between 3-5pm, they do 2 sittings 6pm and 9pm they dont like booking to many people for the 9pm we kept getting told it was fully booked until we complained to customer service who sorted this out, when we went it was only half full. We booked the Jeep on Tour only to end up with the machanic who did not speak any English which was a bit disapointing although this is a good trip to do, we did inform our reps Maria and Mable who I must say were !st class. they sorted a small refund for us. the shows and entertainers were exellent and very friendly. On the whole the hoilday was ok, but we would not go back to this part of Cuba or this hotel.
