Stayed at the Snezhanka from 28/02/09 - 07/03/09. Had 2 rooms for ourselves and the children. Rooms good for the grade of hotel. Not the warmest of rooms - especially to dry out wet ski gear. Radiator in the bathroom did not work at all, and nothing was done about this inspite of us tellng reception and our rep. Beds comfy - food, well if you can't make out from other reviews what to expect from Bulgarian hotel kitchens, all we can say is stick to the cold option if available, or look for the microwave, then you wont be disappointed! The range of food was excellent.
The skiing - what it's all about!! Fantastic. Went to Austria last year - ice - horrid. Pamporovo - lots of snow from previous weeks downfall, lovely and soft - powder most of the week except early in the mornings until the sun was up. Scenery - absolutely awesome, one the of the most beatuiful places we have been to. Couldn't fault the management of the ski slopes either, at the end of each day, slopes were smoothed over ready for the next day. Can't comment on snow cannons - they weren't required.
The food on the mountain was excellent, but as with other reviews shop about, don't just follow your instructor, ours wanted to take us to the most expensive 'truck stop' each day, and you may have to be prepared to pay to use the loo!
My husband is a first time skier, and he loved it, and would go back again. Certainly great for beginners and intermediate skiers. The blacks are limited though for advanced skiers.

The hotel offered as much as you can expect from a 3-star hotel and a bit more.
The room we were in was quite cold, with the 1 radiator being off most of the time. However, the water was nearly always hot, so a long bath after skiing was always possible.
The staff were very pleasant and happy to help. However, this was a honeymoon for me and my wife and despite dropping this into conversation several times we weren't offered an upgrade (shouldn't have been expected, but Thomson told us this was available). Also the 'double' room was basically 2 single beds pushed together, which made for slightly uncomfortable sleeping.
Booking on a half-board basis meant that Breakfast and Dinner was free and a huge buffet was laid out, with food replenished regularly. There was a decent choice on offer even if some of it was questionable (maybe it's just my apprehension to trying the local food).
The lobby bar was very nice and cosy with a log fire burning in the evening, several comfy couches to sit on and 2 large TV's.
Best of all, the shuttle buses that took you to the nearest slopes (only 10 minutes away) started outside the hotel so you were always guaranteed a seat and ran every 15 minutes.
The pool was basic, but usually empty, meaning a good swimming session was nearly always an option. The only down side was that you needed flip-flops to wear around the outside of the pool otherwise you weren't allowed in.
The hotel was within walking distance of the supermarket as well as several restaurants and pubs, a bowling alley, a couple of nightclubs, ATM's and change facilities.
We will be booking again for next Feb!

I booked a double apartment for the week over new year to sleep 4.
Firstly the apartment was far better than expected. Brand new, excellent facilities and huge! The views over the Snezhanka peak were fantastic and the facilities in the hotel are great. Try finding a hotel in the Alps with a pool this nice.
The resort is very picturesque with some beautiful tree runs and while it is suited to beginners I was more than able to challenge myself on the mountain and put my 20+ yrs of experience to the test on occasion. My friends who were beginners loved the ski school and have an invite back to Plovdiv to visit their instructor!
Nightlife is as lively as you want to make it and, if you stick to the local delicacies, the restaurants serve some tasty bargains.
Thoroughly recommend the hotel and resort and if you're looking for something a bit different there's a whole new world around the resort to satisfy the wanderlust.
We're booked in for next year!

Great Hotel

We had a great holiday here. Stay in the new apartments if you can, they're a lot better than the regular rooms. Apart from the skiing, there's a really nice pool and the food is very acceptable.

Feb 2008, Mr Barry Walker

We stayed at half term week and were very pleased with our choice, a decent hotel and we found staff to be very helpful and pleasant. Food was wholesome but basic, and my wife managed to eat her fill even being a veggie! Thompson guests get a free glass of wine or small beer with their evening meal which was a nice surprise. Our room was quiet small but clean, but use the lift with someone you know very well as it's tiny. Beer was 4lev and white wine 5lev(2.5lev=£1) and the bar had some really comfy sofas. The ski bus stops right outside the hotel and we never once had to wait to be transferred to the slopes. Thompsons flight to Doncaster didn't leave until 6.30(delayed until 8.30) so we had an extra days skiing which was fantastic, we hired ski's 20lev and ski pass for the day 29lev, but because a lot of companies leave earlier the slopes were really quiet and for this reason we are looking to book again next half term

Jan 2008, Mrs NH Lake

We stayed at The Snezhanka last Feb. There was about 28 of us and we are all going back this Feb (2008).
This is a great family hotel, the restaurant has a good selection of food, the scrammbled egg for breakfast was the best!! The bar is stocked with plenty of Vodka and Beer!!
There is a games room and a good sized swimming pool which our children spent alot of time in after skiing.

I’m going in January for the 3rd time and they have updated the hotel over the years I have been there it was good .
Hotel staff were ok but ignorant but good all round.
The local shops were good and I purchased quite a lot.

Didn’t go to the pool because you weren’t allowed in without flip flops.
Local Italian was very nice, I ate out of there most nights.
I went to some folk night - it was stomach churning!
The bar underneath the hotel was nice and we went there most nights.

Visited Pamporovo for a skiing break, there were 25 of us in total who went skiing for Christmas.
As this was my first time skiing, I was very impressed with the facilities, especially for the price we paid. The food in the hotel was very good, with a variety of choice in the morning, toast, bacon, sausages, eggs, continental etc. Evening meals were also provided a variety of choice, including local specialities.
Staff were okay, but not particularly friendly.
Rooms were always very clean.
Hotel atmosphere was nice, as the bar area had an open fire burning.
A few good bars and restaurants locally, although we tended to remain in our hotel most evenings.
Very nice pool area, for relaxing in the late afternoons.
The local ski school was excellent, it is well worth paying for a ski instructor for the week.
