Having just spent a week H/B at this hotel, I was so glad to leave. My husband and I were on the 4th floor, and had to go to bed 9.30ish most nights to get some sleep before the rowdy guests came in at approx. 2am blowing horns, shouting banging on doors and the room above us appeared to be moving the furniture, fighting and argueing, I was really upset and frightened. This week was unfortunately during the World Cup Football quarter finals (not the England fans I hasten to add, because they were out of the competition). When I asked at reception if the security team patrolled the hotel during the night the girl did not understand what I was saying - very limited unstanding of english. Our holiday rep. we did not see after the welcome meeting until I phoned him on my mobile in the morning before we were due to leave at 9.45pm that evening, because we had to vacate the room at mid-day and needed a courtsey room for a quick shower, and reception said it was fully booked. One A4 sheet of paper with about 20 slots available for the masses of guests who were booking out that day. My praise goes out to the Guest Co-ordinator guy whose office is situated behind reception and he kindly arranged another room we could use for half and hour and also our evening meal which again reception said we were not entitled to. We paid for 7 nights holiday and had only had 6 evening meals. The food and the room was fine. We had clean towels every day and clean bed linen 2/3 times. Our holiday was spoilt with the gangs of football supporters(not England) who paid no respect for fellow holidaymakers in this hotel, but Security did not seem to be around when this was "kicking off". Never again for us. Being British we were in the minority and still queue!!!!

Having never written a review before I felt that strongly about the place that I just had to. Can I say anything positive about the place? Room OK. Everything else was horrendous. Supposed to be 4 star I wouldn't give it 2. Courtesy from staff was none existant (if you could find one)Restaurant? I have been in better canteens. There are not enough seats for the number of guests so if you miss the table when it is first set you end up at dirty table with whatever the person before you has spilled on it as they don't change them again unless you demand it. We went out 4 times for something to eat as the queue to get into the dining room was out through the lobby. There is no-one to take you to a table and it is every man for himself!!! If you are unfortunate to have a blue all inc. band and not a white one like the front part of the hotel, you can only use the facilities in your bit whereas the white bands can use all the facilities. There may be 2 restaurants but you can only use one of them. The Pool bar closes at 6.00p.m. but the beach bar stays open until 11.00 (last orders 10.45)There are no outside seating areas and the only other bar open until 11.00 is the Lobby bar which has seating for about 50 people. There is no entertainment at all. The lifts keep breaking down (in fact we were stuck in one for 15 minutes) Be prepared to be up really early to grab a sun bed (if you haven't got one by 6.30 there is no chance). There are about 2000 guests and about 400 sunbeds, however there are beds down in the beach area that you have to pay for. As for snacks - don't make me laugh. If you call a soggy bit of pizza or a dry ham butty a snack then go for it, that is all that was on offer every day from 2.00 - 4.00 in the Lobby bar. The pool is far too small for the number of guests and we did not see it cleaned or even have the filters on all week and it was getting that cloudy that you could hardly read the writing on the bottom of it. (In other words it was full of bacteria). One other thing if you like ice in your drink, they do not do it at all at any bar in the hotel.Quite the worst holiday and service we have had anywhere.

Just returned today 4/7/2010. First i will tell you that I have been to Sunny Beach before and had a good experience. The foyer in the Chakia Beach, which is actually the Metropol Hotel, is great looking but thats where the compliments end. Room was average size but dirty carpet and bathroom needed a good clean. The maid only done what she could get away with. We had to leave the bed unmade so that she would change sheets. Otherwise she just walked past it. The Chaika Beach Hotel is actually three hotels on the one site. I f you are all inclusive then you can only use the hotel you are booked into and not the others on site. Which is not right as we booked all inclusive and had to walk to the back hotel, Metropol, where we were booked into to get a drink. The restaurant was a disaster. If you are British do not expect to be able to sort out what has been served. All the meats taste the same, or should I say, do not have any taste. If you are a vegetarian you are pushed towards the vegetables. The staff are not helpful and were very rude to a guest, who was friends of ours. We had to eat out for most of the holiday because we could not stand the lack of quality in the food and the stress trying to get a table. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. EVER!!!!

Stayed here june2010 all inclusive, two parts to hotel,so you can get nice resturant and bar in front part or poorer resturant and poor bar at rear.we got the rear.i will start with hotel room, not what you would expect 4star to be,tatty and dirty.
resturant food was awfull,no cups, plates, you had to fight for a table.food was same every night no variety.food was that bad we eat out.
we were not aloud to use all facilities as we were in the rear hotel part, however if you stayed in the front part you had the best of everything.
staff were unhelpfull, when yoy had an issue.
overall not good,we were lucky that we could afford to eat out, however some familys we meet didnt have that luxury!

Hi just returned from the Chaika beach hotel-myself and my husband we had two very good weeks there; the room was very nice cleaned every day and fresh towels also; we were going with a open mind with reading all the reviews;the food is cooked and presented Bulgarian style we are fussy eaters and h/b we ate there every day;in a very good location in the heart of all;my husband is wheelchair bound and found this hotel suitable for himself;the staff were friendly and helpful in the dining area;the pool was cold but nice and clean;we spoke to many friendly people there who were very happy also saying a good choice of hotel so please do not worry and go and enjoy yourself just remember Bulgaria is not the U.K and have a different culture to enjoy from janet in Wales

i was very disspointed during my stay the staff were ignorant apart from the 2 in the irish bar, in the brocher there is alot of false advertisement, you dont get no night entertainment, the pizza castle you have to pay and the msytic bar you have to pay. The drink selection is poor you can only have vodka, gin, whiskey, brandy, beer and wine, and there all local sprits, in the irish bar a frind i mt there asked for a guinees and the staff put coke and beer in a glass and thre it at him, the food in the resturants is not cooked properly the chicken is pink in the middle so and my girlfriend ended up spending most of are money eatin out. you cant get a sun bed unless you get up a 6am, and the lifts are always beaking down. There was a leak in the main reception and the floor was wet through and there was no wet floor signs and every body was slipping and the receptionist just sat there and did nothing to help the situtation. The only good thing about the hotel is the cleaness and the looks. i would never go back here though.

We have just returned from a week in Sunny Beach and Chaika Beach and we cannot fault it. Excellent hotel and an excellent place. Albeit the reception staff are pretty unfriendly and do leave you waiting too long however the dining staff and cleaners are very friendly. Contrary to other comments our room was thoroughly cleaned every day. Sunny Beach has lots to offer from watersports, shopping, bars, clubs and restaurants to trips to Nessebar and a taste of real Bulgarian culture. The locals were excellent and really made us feel welcome. I will definitely go back and will recommend it to anyone who asks. All resorts cant cater to everyones tastes but Sunny Beach really does fulfil the all requirements of a beach holiday.

I am very disappointed by the hotel and the service. Extremely unfriendly staff. Absolutely no respect to the guests of the hotel. No matter what you need, there will be LONG waiting at the reception, so you can forget about going out late or coming back to the hotel at 3-4 am. It will take you ages to get to your room. The elevators are often breaking down and we had people stuck in them several times. The food is awful and tasteless, no variety in the menu. In conclusion I can say that this is far not the best place for spending your time in a wonderful place like Sunny beach. I am never going back in that hotel again.

There is nothing wrong with this hotel me and my family have been 4 times to it and once to the victoria palace and that 5* hotel is worse than the chaika, people need to remember that the country is still up and coming. The food in the hotel is not great but eatable and it is cheap enough to eat out if you prefer.
But please remember up till about 20 years ago bulgaria was still a communist state so a 5* there is not going to be like a 5* spain, italy ect

What do you want from a holiday that you haved worked, waited and looked forward to all year? If it is relaxing on a sun bed by a warm water swimming pool in peace and quiet reading a good book. Or dining in a superb restaurant with amiable waiters and good food with nice crockery and not having to queue for 45 minutes to get in. Clean rooms, lifts that work every hour of every day, then Chaika Beach hotel is NOT for you! You would be fooled into thinking on arriving in reception for the first time that this hotel is something special, but no no no! If you arrive late evening there is a long wait for the bell boy to show you to your room, only one on duty we were told. Rooms are not cleaned properly, the food is bland and if spilt on the floor was left for someone to slip on. If there is something different on the menu you have to go to dinner very early because once it is gone it is replaced with the usual skinny chips and mixed veg. We have had to queue for 45 mins to get a table. Crockery is chipped and not enough staff to clear tables, we ate out a lot some nice restaurants off the beach. Freezing cold swimming pools only the brave going for a dip, with loud disco music played all day. Lifts breaking down several times every day, (fun if your room is on the 7th floor) and if you leave your key with reception for safety whilst leaving the hotel for a night out, make sure that you put all your valuables in the safe. We had two phones, a camera and a camcorder stolen from our room . One day spent at the police station. The promenade is lined every 10 yards with people pestering you to go into their restaurant. Having to constantly move out of the way of boys riding bikes with carts blaring music charging enormous amount for a short ride. People with a snake, monkey and distraught baby crocodile with his mouth taped up asking you to have your photo taken with them. Ladies of the night mug young men on their own after dark (we met one reporting it at the police station). Anything good to report, the beach was nice and our room had a sea view. We did visit Nessebar which was lovely and Sobotov (not sure if spelt correctly) which was also very nice. Chaika Hotel may be cheaper than elsewhere but whats that saying "you only get what you pay for". Never ever again!

The Hotel Chaika beach had everything we wanted. The room was clean tidy and cleaned and towels changed everyda. The food was prepared well and there was plenty of it. The drinks were fine and altough we don't drink a lot there were several who did. There were plenty of sunbeds and 3 pools to choose from. We found plenty to do every day altough it got very hot in the afternoon. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Theonly thing lacking was evening entertainment in the hotel.
We went on some trips and enjoyed them all. Our Rep Chris couldn't have been more helpful taking the trouble to arrange things for us as I have a bad knee and cannot walk far. We would like to thank every one for a good time
