" Value for money "
Submitted By: williams35The hotel was spotless in a great location right on the beach, staff were friendly and helpful, rooms cleaned daily, great food, locally produced drink with no queues at the bar. 2 great pools with loads of sunbeds and situated right on the beach front and what a beautiful beach. The hotel is on a promenade and then it goes for miles with shops, bars, restaurants, shops, nightclubs(1 or 2). You will pay on average 80p for a pint of local lager which aint bad I may add. We were there for a week but wish we had stayed for 2. So for all those thinking of Sunny Beach for your next holiday I am sure you will have a great time. The resort caters for all ages
Advice: Great holiday resort with great water sports
Activities: Dak's Irish Bar, good live music

" 3 star prices, 3 star hotel! "
Submitted By: lucielocketHotel is in amazing location, which is probably why it is a 4 star, rooms are very clean, however bathrooms smell of drains. Towels changed every day, grounds well maintained. Loads of sunbeds however would hate to be here in height of season.
Asian resturant is amazing probably nicest chinese I have had, Bulgarian very tasty. Main resturant is nice but can get repetative, however if you want steak pizza and chips every night and not willing to try local cusine, fresh fish and different meats, I suggest this isn't the place for you! The snack bar in the day is the same food every day and can only be described as feeding time at the zoo, it was embarassing to watch, most meals times are not pleasant and consist of people pushing and shoving like the food is going out of fashion, this in fact was an unpleasant part of the holiday.
Hotel staff were really friendly, however english is pretty poor, so any major problems go through the rep who is lovely.
Hotel is mainly full of other nationalities (you know who I mean!), and with that I am very sorry to say comes with bad manners from many of them. THe toilets in the night were disgusting as people drank the bar dry. Hotel is not what I expected from a Riu hotel, however when don't pay much can't really expect much more.
IMPORTANT point. Only exchange money in Crown exchanges, you will get ripped off at others. Outside the front of the hotel on the beach turn right and lovely lady runs a crown exchange.
" Great Holiday "
Submitted By: NickpThe hotel was spotless both the rooms and the site though by the late afternoon as lazy guest abandoned plate of food and rubbish it became messy though by the next morning all was clean again. The hotel is located next to the beach and the hotel even has a bar on the beach. The main strip leads along the beach with lots of restaurants and hooky shop with a large selection of fakes, no matter how good they look they are definitely fakes.
The food was excellent with a great variety from salads to as much meet as you can eat however the meet does not taste the same as in the UK. The staffs in the restaurant were excellent and were happy to get us milk for my daughter’s bottle every night as we left the restaurant.
The entertainment was fantastic with the on-site staff always demonstrating fantastic levels of energy. Every night there was a mini disco next to the bar which the kids loved.
The suggestion that the drinks are watered down is rubbish, quite the opposite, we generally got a separate soft drink to dilute the spirits as they were too strong.
As others have stated the game of finding sun beds was played every day and even though there was signs up you soon learn that putting yours towels down early is important. I am not sure what people expect from the pool temperature, no surprise they are not heated but once you have been in for a minute or so it is fine, my 1 year old spent hours in the pool daily.
It was not all perfect, some of the staff were miserable but they were never rude. There are no lifts but the blocks are only three stories high, ground, 1st and 2nd. Not that it is the hotels fault but the flight times are rubbish and it is expensive to stay in your room however there is a store room for cases and you can use a room for showering in the evening.
Overall an excellent holiday, I am not the sort of person who returns to the same place but am seriously considering a return trip this year.
Advice: A bit blackpool in the sun

" Beware Massage "
Submitted By: Alan GDO NOT HAVE A MASSAGE...the resident professional Massaage offered by Dinko Vangelov and team claim they are qualified and perform a medical service. They put me in hospital and I sustained injuries that too 7 months and £450 to sort out. I contacted my tour operator who recommend and indorse the service and between thier legal team the massuer and the doctor which coincidently is situated 1 metre away from the massuers office I was told I could not prove the case. So beware DO NOT USE DINKO VANGELOV'S SERVICES if you value your health and DO NOT USE FIRST CHOICE if you value your bank account.

Submitted By: Lk YeelesOur last day we had to check out of our rooms at 12am and were not getting picked up for over another 12 hours at 02.00 in the morning and it cost £5 an hour to stay in your room longer. We could not go to th pool as it was raining all say so had to wait in the lobby .. be warned it,s not pleasant. Look at your flight times and try and book an extra day.
The pool was nice, which was a shame as nobody could get in it as it was absolutely freezing. I felt sorry for all the kids that couldn't use it because it was just to cold.
Some of the staff were so miserable and rude it was unbelievable. ( there were some nice ones thou)
Be very very careful if you venture into the town. We were overcharged on three occasions what it says on the menu isn't always what you pay. BE careful they don't over charge you when they think you,r a little tipsy. The best restaurant is LA Samba good food and fantastic entertainment ( great live band)
Don't go on the excursion to KHans Tent. If you do do not go with your tour operater as it is over priced the food is unedable and and cold and the wine ..well awful . Entertainment ok but not worth the price. Get a taxi and go by yourself if y ou have to go. Nothing stays the same price if Sunny beach one day you may buy a paper fro 4 lav the very next day they will charge you 5 for the same paper. You always get the sinister impression everyone is trying to con the stupid tourists. My husband and I had been drinking in a bar all evening and did not have a lav ( coin) to use the toilet and they refused to let us go. All public toilets are expected to be pay for.
The beach is nice. I have never complained about a holiday before but I don't want anyone having the same experiences. My advice go to Spain, Greece or France instead.Everyone on our flight home was so miserable saying they shouldn't call it "Sunny beach" but "soggy beach" . Never met my rep she was "ill" probably due to the food at evrika.

Submitted By: Miss N CrawfordThe only problems we had were that we were on the 3rd floor and found it difficult to move our suitcases as there were no lifts plus there were a lot of germans, french, belgiums in the hotel. The food was not fantastic but it was ok as you would really expect on a summer holiday abroad.
The location is superb, right on the beach, which is lovely and close to bars and restaurants which is always busy and great value for money. All in all a fantastic holiday and i would definately go back to sunny beach.

Submitted By: Mrs D MorganWe arrived at 5.00AM very tired after a long day and was pleasantly surprised at the service offered. the reception staff spoke very good English and asked if we wanted any food or drink.
The recption was lovely, spotlessly clean, with lots of sofas, and chairs (very important on depature day)
Our room was very nice, plenty of cupboard space, a TV with cable channels, a small fridge, and most important the bed was comfortable. The Bathroom also was very nice, Shower, Loo and Sink. The room overlooked the main bar area, but on the odd occasion we had an early night we didnt hear any noise.
The room was cleaned every day, no complaints there.
We didnt attend the Rep's welcome meeting, as we was still asleep after our early arrival. I did look at the board and a few boat trips, a bar crawl and Bulgarian night was on offer. To be honest we never go on the trips because all we like doing is chilling out by the pool, eating and drinking.
The weather was fabulous, temptures reached mid 40's every day, and at night mid to high 20's, pack light as you wont wear jeans, cardi's etc.
The pool area is very nice, plenty of sun beds, and yes you did have to get your towels out early. The pool bar had lots of different drinks on offer, soft drinks you help yourself, and beer the bar staff served you. One little niggle with the bar staff, a few of the lads thought they was Tom Cruise in film cocktail, and spent too much time throwing bottles and glasses around, particualy if there was teenage girls waiting.
Food was available from 8.00AM-10.00PM no complaints there, a few times we got annoyed by people aimlessly wandering around in the evening buffet. There was a Bulgarian and Aisan resturant but we never tried them. If you do get fed up with the food there is a McDonalds and KFC near by.
The Animation team was OK, there was activites going on all day, Darts, Volley Ball etc, They also put on a show every evening, we went to 1 show, but didnt join in any activity.
There was a supermarket on the complex, which was well stocked, we used the shop twice, both times I found the service very poor, the girl behind the till was quite rude the first time, no please or thank you in fact didnt crack a smile, the second time we actually walked out, there was a male attendant this time, he was busy chatting to his mate and didnt pay any attention to the fact I was standing there with my goods waiting to pay, I called out excuse me and he told me to wait "one minute" so I waited and waited, his friend left, and the attendant went off to do something else. I left all the stuff on the counter and went to the supermarket over the road. ( we wanted sun cream and an English News paper, which you can buy every where)
It's worth shopping around for sun cream, News papers etc as prices do vary a bit from shop to shop.
We didnt have to change any money, but I did notice the rate out side the hotel was better than the one inside the complex only use the Crown exchange booths, I heard others can rip you off.
The shops outside on the strip was good, lots of fake designer clothes, bags, trainers caps etc etc. all good prices as well, if your good at haggling you can pick up a bargain.
We did go out the complex at night, it was very very busy, we had no problems at all but I would recommend watch your bag.
We did have a lovely holiday, I would recommend the Evrika to couples, families alike the really was something for everyone.
" I booked this hotel taking into... "
Submitted By: Ms KJ SalthouseMy opinion is that this hotel is definately a 3 star hotel although Riu rate it at 4 star!
We booked 4 twin rooms with pool or sea view, we got 4 rooms with a lovely view of the car park!
The rooms are large but in need a a re-vamp, one of the curtains was hanging off for the whole of the holiday. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower. It was filthy and as soon as the water started to run the shower blocked and we stood in a pool of water until it drained away. The shower base was not cleaned the whole week we were there! The plug in the sink didnt work so we only had running water, we couldn't fill the bowl.
The beds were changed during the week which was good.
Tip! Do not pay for a safe deposit box! There is a red button inside the safe by the hinges of the safe door, press it, then enter a code of your choice on the key pad (ie:1234B), then enter the code again. The safe is then programmed with your code. Close the door put in your code and the door will lock, and you dont need to pay the cheeky reception staff who will only give you these instructions anyway!
The whole hotel was gloomy, no brightness about the place with very large open spaces, in need of a facelift and some brightness.
The main restaurant always seemed to have a smell about it, the breakfasts were edible and ok, the lunch and evening meals were mainly aimed at ther Germans/Dutch. I think they think all the English like is chips, Pizza and Kebabs because this is what was on the menu every single day, in the main restaurant and the snack bar! I lived the whole week on the salads and fruit which was ok. My mother lived on fruit alone.
The reception staff were nice and friendly, pity the lobby bar staff weren't as nice, very frosty. My sister asked for cold milk for tea and they had a stand up argument with her stating that they dont supply cold milk for tea! The reception staff had to sort it out and after that we were given cold milk on request.
One think to note is that they will serve English with 1/2 pint glasses of beer and the Germans/Dutch pint glasses. This was also pointed out to them and a argument ensued. We then got pint glasses on request.
The wine is disgusting and very watered down!
The staff in the rainy day bar were very friendly and worked so hard in the evenings.
The animation team were fantastic and without them I would have rated the hotel lower, they worked their socks off, they were friendly and happy, and always had time to talk to everyone. The shows at night were good considering the animation team put them together themselves. They were corny but fun. There were plenty of activities for young and old during the day.
The pool area was nice, plenty of sunbeds and towels available every day.
There is a doctor available 24hrs which is good, as 7 out of the 9 of us were ill! My nephew ended up on a drip for 2 days! The doctor said it was a virus and lots of people have it so not to worry! It cost £300 for the treatment which will have to be claimed back through insurance.
All in all I was not impressed with this hotel at all, and I am not a moaner! I have lots of holidays each year, and for the last few years each of them have been great, and my feedback has reflected that. We went with Cosmos but unfortunately missed the welcome meeting and never saw a representative or had any contact with a rep whatsoever for the rest of the holiday.
I was not impressed with Sunny Beach and I dont think I would be back to Bulgaria in a hurry. Far to busy for me, and not up to my usual standards I'm afraid...

Submitted By: WelshYummyMummyWe found the recpetion staff polite and helpfull with excellent english skills. The lack of lifts was an slight issue for us, although it's just a couple of steps here and there gets quite annoying (or you just get used to it, depending on your personality!). As soon as we arrived i infomed the reception staff I wanted a ground floor room, as we were allocated one on the second level and they assured us that they would do their best to accomadate us, so after spending one night living out of our cases sure enough we were moved to a ground floor room, i can appricaite that this might not be so easy in busier months but always worth and ask?!! There was no trouble with finding our room (either of them) our luggage was collect from recepetion and carried for us and trolleys were also provided.
There is a safe deposit box in the room, don't pay reception for it - all you get is a little bit of paper that explains how to set it - listen out for a the 'scam' to set it for free, most British guests knew how to do it (sorry, my husband set ours).
Hotel absolutly spotless throughout. Not many Brit kids at the kids club so wasn't for our little boy but older kids seemed to be mixing just fine and the girls spoke a whole multitude of langauges. Animation team were fab loads going on throught the day but as with most holiday resorts some of the evening entertainment was a bit cheesy, but bearable. Noise level wasn't really a prob either because it's all over by 10:30pm. But the bars still serve till 12.
I thought the food in the Hotel was really good - the restraunt being the most varied, plenty on offer and was open morning, noon and night. Pancakes for breakfast were popular. The snack bar did get a bit boring but then 'what can you serve at a snack bar?!' The Asian resturant was ok too but no one in our party was impressed with the Bulgarian (shame on us hey).
Pool was very cold our first week but definately warmed up by our second week, who knows how, but then so did the weather. Very clean and pretty again. The lazy pool out the front is nice if you didn't want to be disturbed by the animation team, handy for sleeping babies too and the nice breeze coming up from the beach which is just across way is fab for sun worshipers. But be warned to be up early to 'bags' your spot! Don't get your ticket from the towel guys at the end of the day - get fresh towels, handy for the early morning sunlounger scramble, umberella are fixed so be prepared.
Hope this review sounds honest but favourable because we really did enjoy, sure you will too.
