ok hotel,inpersonal,shame about runs!!!!
on arrival had to take cases about half a mile along unlit corridors, room v.difficult to mind, lots of steps which were dangerous when it rained. room nice, but had better. staff unhelpful and quite rude. both myself and my sister had runs all week along with numerous other guests. had an allocated time for the evening buffet which is a bit of a pain. one night the hotel ran a beaurty pageant and most of the hotel was closed to paying guests!!! we have both travelled all other the world this was by far my worst ever holiday. airport is awful, have to que for over an hour outside and no duty free-not european standard. wouldnt use riu chain again, irebostar alt better

Fantastic Hotel
Stayed at this hotel with my husband from 31st Aug - 14th September 07 and had a brilliant time. This was our first visit to Bulgaria as we wanted to experience somewhere new. We travel frequently short and long haul and have stayed in Riu hotels in other locations on numerous occasions. I particularly wanted to write a review for the Evrikra as prior to our trip I noticed there were very few reviews posted. The hotel is made up of several blocks situated around a huge pool and gardens. This is tucked away off the main street and you feel away from the hectic pace and noise from the resort centre even though you are so close! There is also a new block, Evikra Beach situated facing the beach and main road with an additional pool. We were housed in block C and had a brilliant room overlooking the pool. The room was huge with an additional sofa bed and table and plenty of wardrobe space and hangers. Bathroom was fine although as to be expected the water temperature could be unpredictable at peak times. The room was always kept spotlessly clean and nothing was too much trouble. We were all inclusive during our stay and found the food to be good. Breakfast was a mixed hot and cold buffet with berry smoothies some mornings that were delicious. Lunch could be eaten either in the resurant or down in the snack bar by the pool. More variety upstairs but the snack bar offering burgers, Pizza, salad, kebabs was fine if you wanted something by the pool. Evening meals were done in sittings either 6-7:30 or 8 - 9:30 and you had a particular table for the duration of your stay. There was always a good variety and a special each evening with pork and gammon being the most common dishes. We planned to eat away from the hotel for a couple of evenings as during 2 weeks the food can get a bit repetative but in the end we didn't bother as we enjoyed the food in the hotel. In addition to the buffet resturant there was a Bulgarian restaurant that you could book at no extra charge. This served traditional dishes and had a good atmosphere. The hotel pool was great going around a central stone feature with little bridges trailing across to the centre where you could collect small beach towels. Sun beds were spaced around this and were plentyful. You didn't have to be up early to reserve your sunbed! and although the hotel seemed full you always the feeling of space. The water in the pool was cold but did warm up in the afternoon. There was a seperate pool on the front of the hotel. The hotel also has it's own seperate part of the beach with sun loungers and umbrellas that you don't have to pay extra for which was good. Lots of watersports on the beach too. All the staff in the hotel work hard to ensure that you have a good holiday and nothing is too much trouble. We found everyone to be friendly and helpful regardless of tipping. There is a full activity program and while this isn't for us it appeared to be very popular and well received. My only slight moan about the hotel related to the drinks. The wine which is my tipple was horrid and the cocktails and spirits lacked variety and were too sweet. Thankfully there were some good cocktail bars outside of the hotel but I do think the hotel could make a few improvements in this area. My husband found the beer was to his liking and the coffees were ok. There is also a machine with "diet juce" in the resturant which is less sugary. We ventured out mainly in the day time but didn't really like sunny beach as a resort. It depends what you're looking for. The beach streches for miles and is lined with bars, strip clubs, "designer goods", Mcdonalds, cheapish food, loads of water sports, motorised buggies...you get the gist I would recomend this hotel. It was good value for money and we had a very relaxing break.
Riu Evrika Hotel
A group of 5 of us stayed at this hotel 31st Aug to 07 Sept 2007. Overall hotel was good, very clean, cleaners clean rooms even if you aren't out of your room till afternoon, pool was a really good size and staff were helpful. Good activities with animation team, the only bad experiences we had was that the shower in the room 95% of the time was luke warm if not cold, the hotel food was terrible so not worth being all inclusive, the juice at the bar is like squash and tastes like a drink from a vending machine and not much choice for drinks and you can only get your pool towels before 11am and then between 4pm and 6pm so no hanging around for clean beach towels in the morning!! The walls between rooms are aslo very thin so not good if you have noisy neighbours. We put music on and were talking over music and reception rang to say neighbour had complained about noise. The location of this hotel is good and cash point near. Also alot of the hotels the pools are very exposed to public where as this pool wasn't so was alot better than other hotels. We were leaving in evening and check out was 12pm but we were able to pay a small charge to keep room till our departure which was perfect! Internet room in hotel useful if needed. Overall i would say a good and clean hotel but maybe not worth being all inclusive as everything is cheap anyway! A good hotel for families! Mix of English and Germans!
Excellent Hotel
We spent one week in the Riu Evrika hotel in Sunny Beach and thought it was a brilliant hotel with excellent services and facilities. As a couple, family, group of friends, any one should enjoy a holiday here, just be aware that there are mixed nationalities staying here so if you don’t like to mix with others on holiday, choose somewhere with just British holidaymakers. Going on holiday is about experiencing different cultures and people though so most people should be fine here. On arrival, check-in was quick and efficient. You have to hand in your passports and they hold them until you check out, you are given a band to fasten round your wrist just like most other all inclusive places, a sheet of hotel info like meal times, services etc and a card to allow you a towel for each person in your party. This card enables you to get a fresh clean towel every day from the pool area for sunbathing, you hand the towel back at the end of the day and you get you card back to use the next day. Don’t lose the card, you will be charged 20 levs! A porter escorts you to your room and assists with luggage so try and have some change or small notes handy for a tip. Our room was a double (twins pushed together) but was HUGE, so much bigger than any other room I’ve stayed in. We were pleased to find air con, a tv and fridge in the main room along with a sofa and coffee table, a balcony with chairs and table, bathroom with shower and hairdryer and soap/shampoo to be replaced daily. Wish we had known that you didn’t need to take ANY towels and that there would be a tv for some entertainment (quite a few channels showing English speaking films, music etc), we could have saved room in the suitcase instead of taking towels, stereo and hairdryer!! There was also plenty of space for clothes and belongings to be put away. There are 2 pools, one shaped pool which is quite large and used by the families and children and a smaller pool behind another block which is a bit quieter. As I said towels are provided here. There is also a section of the beach across the road for use of hotel guests, with a bar especially for Evrika guests on the sand so you don’t have to go back to the hotel to get a drink. Beware if the weather is overcast or showers, this brings jellyfish into the shallow waters and you will see hundreds of them just a few meters out into the sea. The animation team put on a full day of activities for all ages, they run a kids club, teenagers club and things for adults too. There will be a range of games and competitions for adults being held several times a day, including shuffleboard, darts, football, water polo, table tennis, volleyball, water aerobics, stretching, bocca (like boules I think?), air gun shooting, and many others, they will come round the pool area to round up people to take part and it is all a bit of fun, don’t take it seriously! If you like to take part, you will not get bored! The animation team also do a few shows throughout the week in the evening in the amphitheatre, comedy, singing etc… which they really put a lot of effort into. The humour is a bit slapstick and ‘European’ but it is entertaining and a fun way to pass an hour in the evenings. They also have a couple of professional shows in the amphitheatre, dancing and traditional Bulgarian stuff. The meal times are well managed with dishes being replenished constantly so nothing runs out. There is a wide range of food out at each meal and also in the snack bar, enough to have something different each time. For lunch and dinner in the main restaurant there is different food each day along with stuff that is there every day. You will always get salads, bread, chips, pasta, Bolognese, pizza etc for those more unadventurous. Finally, this hotel is so CLEAN, I’ve not seen anything like it. There were always cleaners around making sure every area is spotless, and they clean your room every day not just a quick whip round but a thorough going over every single day. With over 200 members of staff in this hotel, nothing gets overlooked and nothing seems too much trouble. The staff are friendly and the majority speak a range of languages (at least the basics) and really make an effort to communicate with everyone well. The welcome meeting was the day after we arrived so we had an afternoon to wander round and check things out beforehand. There are quite a lot of trips you could do, from seeing traditional Bulgaria to going on a Catamaran to spot dolphins. We chose the Catamaran and an evening at Khans Tent. The bus picking up for the Catamaran trip was a red London double-decker, funny to see this amongst all the older vehicles out there. This trip was great although the dolphins we saw were quite far away, apparently normally they come quite close to the boat. We anchored up for lunch and a spot of snorkelling in the sea before returning along the coast. Don’t forget sun cream for this trip, you WILL burn a lot quicker at sea. Khans Tent is a must do trip, it’s at a restaurant up in the mountains (you get a brilliant view over Sunny Beach at night time), traditional Bulgarian 4 course dinner with a band providing music (English singing), a bottle of wine each and some excellent entertainment in the variety show after dinner. There was a female contortionist who got herself into a bird cage, fire eaters, plate spinners, dancers, acrobats, who all put on an amazing show. The Rep at this hotel Dani was excellent, with answers to all your questions and lots of advice and suggestions. Outside of the hotel, there is a touristy strip running between the hotel and the beach, with bars, restaurants, shops etc. There are loads of shops selling fake designer goods and copied DVDs, they all seem to charge the same prices, no-one is offering a better deal though maybe they have an agreement to do this? If you are looking for the ‘centre’ of this area, head to the right when you come out of the hotel (rear, not the front). The strip stretches for a good half hour walk if not more. We did eat out one evening, 4 large cocktails, starter and 2 main courses came to equivalent of £15, so it is still fairly cheap here. Most bars have happy hours that last from midday til midnight so these aren’t brilliant deals, check the prices of the drinks before you order to check you are getting a good offer. Like most destinations the measures are strong. The PR people trying to get you into restaurants or bars aren’t really that pushy but have a spiel they like to finish even if you are still walking away, there are also a lot of people handing out leaflets and flyers and you end up with about 10 after just a few hundred metres walk. Beware of the golf buggies being driven up and down this strip, sometimes by young kids, they are for hire and a lot of lazy people use them to get around this area instead of using their legs even though this section is pedestrianised, they will drive right up behind you and they are practically silent you they will catch your heels if not careful! We saw many near misses between buggies and pedestrians. We would definitely go back to Sunny Beach, even back to this hotel. We highly recommend it!!
fantastic
sandra from glasgow hi stayed at riu evrika in sunny beach the hotel was lovely very clean hotel staff very friendly. There was loads to do in sunny beach the weather was fantastic. i think you either like bulgaria or you dont regarding all the mixed reviews i wouldnt let any review put me off. it was my honemoon so the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne and a huge dish of fruit. We liked bulgaria that much we fly out this monday 31 august for 1 week staying at the royal park hotel elinete and taking our wee girl age 1 this time.
The best hotel ever!
We had never been to Bulgaria before and were told lots of horror stories. When we arrived we found that Bulgaria are full of ver friendly people. The beaches and sea are the cleanest i have seen. Riu Evrika is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The hotel itself was spotless and couldn't be faulted for its cleanliness. The food was great even my sister thought so and she is the fussiest person i know, she doesn't like most English food! The head chef was very friendly and we were greeted at the door every night for dinner. I was even giving a sweet by the chef himself. The staff were the most friendliest i have known and the entertainment was fanatastic. Lucky is lovely and keeps people of all ages amused for hours. We were greeted with smiles from everyone even the maids who do a fanatastic job. The pool was very clean and quite warm. We did nearly every excursion and loved Aquaworld, Khans Tent and Bulgarian Night on the main promeneade but we wished we hadn't travelled to Bulgaria night in the country side as it was an awfully long journey. All in all this was a great hotel and not one German could be found! W e tried to book this hotel again but unfortunately as soon as we got home it was fully booked which just goes to show how popular this hotel is! Definitely come here!
My best holiday ever
Hotel as excellent staff very helpfull and friendly Very good for children as hotel have there own entertainments and they try to get all children involved and adults They put on there own shows at night which I recomend to go to most off them hotel is quiet after 12.00 at night and people keep noise down after bars shut Food was excellent but got a bit much after 10 days but eatin out is very cheap This is first holiday people were not in your face trying to sell you timeshares or trying to get you into there bars etc people were very friendly. Aquapark at sunny beach was excellent I have had in holdays in different countries and I can honestly say I would garentee that i would go back to same hotel and destenation next year My family are already at me to book next years holiday allready to same place I hope you enjoy your holiday at this destination and hotel and I very much recomend
The best holiday hotel we have stayed in to date
We stayed at the Evrika for 2 weeks all inclusive during the height of summer. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and provided an exhaustive and extensive entertainment service. The location of the hotel was second to none with the beach located just across a minor road and the resort centre a short stroll or mini train ride away. The pool was fantastic, and as the grounds were very secure it was a perfect way to give kids a bit of freedom. We used the in house Dr service on one occasion and found this to be a handy extra to have. The only gripe we had was with the food quality and selection but as Bulgaria was so cheap it was a good excuse to go out and about to sample the local cuisine. This was our first experience of a Riu chain hotel and we will definately be visiting others in different locations in the future, not because we do not wish to visit this hotel again but because we want to travel extensively. This beat the Hilton chain hands down.
best hotel for families
i stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed my stay every day!! the entertainment was great for children and adults. everyone there were very pleasant and couldnt have made the stay any better than they did. food was great too!!
