My boyfriend and I have just returned from the chalet Karlberger. Neither of us had been snowboarding/skiing before and didn't know what to expect. We were met at Salzburg airport by our Crystal rep who drove us the hour and a half trip to Kitzbuhel. There were 8 of us in total doing a ski weekend. Upon arrival at the chalet we were greeted by Katy and Courtney who were staff at the chalet. They couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. We sat down to eat and the nice thing was, they put our group together so we could get to know one another.
Dinner was a 3 course meal which was brilliant, not a bad word to say about the food. The chalet itself sleeps around 30 people so great for people in a large group. Breakfast was a buffet style, afternoon tea at 4 was cake and drinks and dinner was at 7 sharp.
The chalet is right next to the main gondola so you literally step out of the front door and into a cable car! There is a room to store all your ski equipment too.
The rooms in the chalet were of a decent size, each with patio doors and balcony. The only negative point for our room was that we didn't have a bath, only a shower, this was easily rectified by using someone elses when they offered! Also if there are not many people in your party and a large group of people are staying, it can get pretty noisy. Apart from that I would stay at chalet Karlberger time and time again.

What a wonderful place...although the accomodation was slightly basic the staff were fabulous. We stayed at the Karlberger over xmas 2009 and IT WAS FANTASTIC. I cannot say enough about the staff, we were in a party of 13, with 7 of them being children (we were known as the Morris 13), the ambience was great with all the other residence being equally as accomodating, our kids have come from there asking "when are we going back".
The staff; Jack, Tom, Paul (the chef who is the best cook in Europe), Abi and Tash (I am sure there is another one equally brill but cannot remember the name) are the best crystal staff you can have....they made the holiday.... I remember the name of the other one..RYAN, what a star...we have been on a holiday before with Crystal but the only time we saw the rep was from the Airport and that was it, not to be seen again until we flew home !....but Ryan was awesome to say the least...HERO. When you go there what you have to remember is the staff are young BUT do a BRILLIANT job, they are youngsters that you hope your kids will end up turning out to be. I could spend the day raving about them but I s'pose I should turn my attention back to the resort itself ! ... before I do, the staff at the Karlsberg also offer an excellent guided tour around the slopes (but don't tell anyone as it's a secret) they will also guide you to the most reasonably priced pubs on the slopes...but saying that they are all reasonably priced....you HAVE TO try the Goulash soup...OMG, stunning. Anyway, enough about the staff, the location is perfect...you are literally two minutes (if that) from the main lift... and then ski back to the door step, albeit a small road you will have to cross but faultless otherwise. We have always been a fan of France but after being to Austria, France is now a close second..You cannot fail to enjoy, if you do then you are a SNOB !
