Its what you make it

We have just returned from here this morning, the hotel is clean, most of the staff are friendly, the pool is small, but the hotel is aimed at the German/Danish market, it is marketed there as a 18 -30s hotel, so be prepared for noise, lots of parties, and not a lot of sleep. We are aged 48 - 53 and have a teenage daughter (16), we had a fun time with friends we made there, its up to you to make it fun..the kids loved the pool, it wouldnt take a lot to make it child friendly, but to be honest they shouldnt have too. If you want a quiet holiday, with the family or chilling out, then DO NOT go here, but if you are out for a laugh, enjoy a drink and want to party, then this is the place for you.

  • Advice: get a taxi from the hotel its only 17 euros and well worth it.

Very Dissapointed

Sep 2010, Ratz

Hi, just spent 2 weeks at the Isla Dorada, our fault - Allocation on Arrival. but we were told on the web site that our holiday resort was suitable for families and couples. NO!!!! this hotel is for 18 - 25's. Now you cannot blame the young people, apparently even the hotel entertainer told us that this hotel is advertised in Germany as 18 - 30 hotel the same as ones in Magaluf for the british 18 - 30.
Therefore, at the poolside (pool was very small) the young people are constantly dive bombing, wetting whomever are close by and there is not enough room for you to be really away from the poolside.
Between 2.00 and 6.00am you have the young people shouting and running down the corridors to their mates, slamming doors. It is hell to try and get to sleep. If the noise is not inside the hotel then it will be from the outside.
Entertainment: Belly Dancer one night, Male singer another, Free Bingo (one game)another night and a quiz on 2 nights and that was it.
The bar, only one person, so even though you had been waiting 10 minutes to be served then the poor barman had to go around to collect empty glasses, then wash them then he will continue to serve. You could wait up to 20 minutes to be served!
Staff at the hotel were very helpful! Food! well we are not fussy but it was same things all the time and what was left over on one day was served up the next day in a different type of dish. One day I had a vegatable paella and when I took a mouthful I got a mouthful of bone! Yes bone in a vegatable paella then the next mouthful I bit into a piece of bit which was the rabbit from the day before and it was rank!!! I had to spit it out. I must admit that we were there a fortnight and even though it was the same old thing thing each day, it had been edable up to that night and for some reason it just went down hill. So many people went to the sister hotel Luna Hotel for their meals which was OK.
Rooms were OK for the price that we paid, the hotel should have been a 3 star but was more like a 2!
In the gym nearly all the equipment was broken, not looked after at all!
I would certainly not recommend this hotel for couples or families! I felt very sorry for those who were there.
The beach is literally just down the road which was GREAT!
The were just 2 English bars - The Blues which is thumbs up! Great guy runs that! The second was the Liverpool Bar which states they do Karaoke everynight. No!!! she only does it when she feels like it. Twice I took other guests there from our hotel hoping for a good laugh doing Karaoke but she could not be bothered! so be warned dont spend your last night there hoping for a last great night you may be disappointed like we were!

This is not a family hotel.

This hotel is advertised in Germany as an 18/30 good time holiday. We have never had such loud loutish behaviour that even the hotel staff could not keep under control. The food was hit and miss and although we were all inclusive had to eat out which ate into our spending money.Night time was the worst so if you want to go for a quiet relaxing holiday don't go here. You have been Warned.

We booked this hotel on the Internet recently & have to say it was the worst hotel
we have ever stayed at.
First of all we found it full of German teenagers who took great delight in running up
& down the corridors shouting & screaming from 2.00am till about 7.00am.
Also we went all inclusive & found that the so called bar only had one waiter who never
smiled once the whole week.
All drinks are served in plastic cups which are limited to 2 per person.
As you can imagine, at peak times in the bar waiting time for being served was around
15/ 20 mins.
When we asked at reception to be moved to a quieter part of the hotel we were told that
the hotel was never quiet.
There was a pool bar that was sometimes never staffed for long periods due to the waiter
having to clear away the dining room after meal times.
There was only one coffee machine in the whole hotel.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who isnt a German teenager.

I have been there for one week and to say it shortly the hotel sucked !
-The pool is much smaller than it lookes like in the internet.
-The food is horrible and the only thing you can eat is hamburger.
-The air-condition works ok but it doesnt work in every room and you dont have a controler.
-The alcohol in the hotel is fake.
-The lift doesnt work sometimes, than you have to use the stairs.
The hotel is actually ok if you just sleep their and hanging around somewhere else at the day.

Web info looked great and all...

Apr 2008, Mr S Hodgson

Web info looked great and all inclusive sounded magnificent, shame it doesn't live up to the hype. Read below.

Hotel was probably a star and a half but not 3 star. Reception was clean and the staff were multi lingual which was very helpful.
Pool was freezing. Poolside bar was ok and the man on duty most days was very very nice indeed. Snack food was a bit disappointing but bearable, hamburgers nicely cooked and not dry and hard like some places do. Toasted sandwiches were ok too. Certainly good enough to keep the kids happy. As many ice creams, cokes and chips as they can eat. Drinks were not household brands but got us by. Only thing that bugged me most, was the drinks, no matter what bar you were in, were all served in plastic cups. Okay for beer and spirits but a definite health and safety issue when getting hot drinks from the coffee machine
Breakfast, lunch and dinner were pretty boring and very "the same old" every day. Some of the staff needed some personality training. Seating was all over the place. Only wine and soft drinks at mealtime unless you got a beer from the poolside bar.
Entertainment was poor. One night they had a karaoke night and no-one sang including the guy running the show. The upside was that Dominic the nightime barman very very capable and very friendly to everyone.
Rooms were nothing to write home about, but i gotta say that i thought they were confortable enough and slept ok. Our balcony (room 641) overlooked the road but once the door was shut the noise was minimal really. Water pressure wasn't good on the 6th floor. Only a trickle out of the shower. Maid service making up the rooms was a bit lacklustre and she probably only cleaned what she could see, never cleaned behind the bathroom door.
God saving grace was we rented a car for the week and could get out and about. If you get a chance go to Port de Soller either by car on the MA20 or go into Palma and get the train through the mountains to Soller and then the tram to the port, well worth a visit.
Overall we had a fairly good time and we never felt hampered by the hotels inefficiencies.
I would say that if you can get past the pre arrival hype of either the web or the brochure, you will get fairly good value for your money. It's a shame really, but a little thought and attention to detail, and it could be a real gem of a hotel
Would i go there again? Probably but not with the family. A lads / ladies long weekend away - Yes for sure

We originally booked to stay at the Luna Park hotel, but after spending just one night there where we were kept awake by gangs of young Germans partying all night long, running up and down the corridors, slamming doors and being generally annoying, we complained, asked to be moved, and ended up at the Isla Dorada.
We found the Isla Dorada to be a very pleasant hotel, we had a lovely room on the 6th floor, with two double beds, and a balcony overlooking the pool, with a gorgeous view of the sea and the mountains in the distance.
The staff were very friendly, especially the reception staff, nothing was too much trouble. Also the man who served in the pooside bar was very nice and friendly too.
The food was adequate, if not a little "samey" but then again, what do you expect for such little cost? The drinks were served in small plastic cups, this was fine for wine, and shorts, but if I'm honest, I think the lager should be served in bigger glasses, if not pint glasses, then at least half pint glasses.
There wasn't much in the way of entertainment, but we did go out of season, so maybe it picks up later in the year.
I have nothing but praise for this hotel, it was clean, tidy and friendly.

Dec 2007, Mrs Lm Churchill

This holiday was our honeymoon and we were greatly disappointed! The food was not acceptable it catered entirely for the german tourists, the only best bit of the menu was the fresh fruit. Our holiday cost us a lot of money for what it was! We ate out 3/4 of the time and we were all inclusive!
You could not get around the pool as it was dominated by gangs of german boys which left us feeling very intimidated! The only best bit of the holiday was the beach which was gorgeous! we definitely will not be returning to Arenal again!

3 star AI hotel it is not.
Our room had worn out beds so bad to have a room change. Food was so bad we went round to Luna park every day to eat.
The hotel was so short staffed only one person on the bar all nights we where there, and she did work hard.
During the day if the coffee machine run out of milk had to wait until bar staff came on at 6 to fill it.
During our stay they lost the keys to the restaurant.
Over all this hotel was the worst I have been in, in Majorca. If you want to go to Arenal book Luna park.

The food was good, enough choices for a week’s holiday.
Staff were friendly but did not understand English very well.
The bar & restaurant are not big enough to accommodate all the guests even though
this was out of season.
The pool is very small, not much room for the sun loungers.
Better off going to the beach which is really nice.
The rooms are adequate. The guests were a mixture of nationalities.
Overall a very enjoyable holiday but I would not go to this resort in high season.

Jul 2006, Mr I McIntosh

Did not know what to expect as this was our first time in Arenal. Predominantly German but a few other nationalities as well. Staff were very helpful and food was acceptable considering the bargain price we paid. Great place to be based to travel throughout the island and see Mallorca.
It is a beautiful island. Visit Palma, that is a must. Only one euro bus fare. The beach is gorgeous. Go to the Strathallan Arms just round from the hotel. We sat on the terrace till the small hours enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. Only criticism would be the size of measures from the landlord, far too big!
Had a problem walking back to hotel and missed breakfast so had to return there for a great fry up at lunch time. Also visit the water park only 5 minutes from hotel, we had a fantastic time.
