fantastic hotel - can't go wrong
from waterskibabe
This is a fantastic hotel. the rooms and especially the food are fantastic. All the staff are very friendly. Ski school is excellent for skiing and boarding - make sure you tip the insturctors! They deserve it! Only thing in Soldeu I would point out is go to Pic Nigre for ski hire. Calbo shops are a complete nightmare with young kids chucking different boots at you and not a clue about measuring and getting it right first time. Apart from that a great place to visit.
Great Hotel & Service
from londoneyes
Me and my partner stayed in this hotel and absolutely loved it. Great location for the slopes and gondola. Lovely rooms, specially the ones facing the slopes, great bathrooms. The only nick was the rooms are very warm even with the heating off...I suppose is due to the good insulation. The buffet is absolutely fantastic, both at dinner time and breakfast. They have enternaining twice a week but finishes around 11.30pm. The only dissapointment is that the hotel doesn't have a pool or sauna, if you want to use the Spa you'll pay as a guest 23Euros for 3hrs!! They also charge you for the ski lockers which are shared with another couple. But overal you can't beat this hotel for location, food, service and quiet rooms!

Just spent seven nights at the Sporthotel Village & absolutely loved it. The view from our balcony was superb (see photo) & it was great to relax at the end of a day on the snow in the hotel bar gazing at the slopes. The food is good - lots of it & a good choice. Even picky eaters will find something. I particularly liked the buffet format for breakfast & dinner - eat as much as you like & no hanging around. Staff were friendly & helpful & most speak excellent English. My only quibble with the hotel was the heating. When we arrived the temperature in our room could only be described as tropical. After a sleepless night I asked reception how to control the temperature. They advised me to turn off the radiator - but the radiator wasn't on! Next suggestion was to leave the balcony door open. This we did for the rest of the week but I wasn't keen on sleeping in mountain air at night. I have to say that I find it very hard to believe that a modern 4* hotel doesn't have air conditioning. Be warned - if your room has a sunny aspect & the weather is good you will roast. The hot/cold temperature changes left my husband with a dreadful cold & a miserable end to his holiday. Having said all of that we will return to the hotel - excellent place to stay. Soldeu is great - not pretensious, laid back, friendly & not expensive. If you want to buy ski boots go to Sports Calbo (the one near the Gondola station before you go down the slope) where you will get first class service & really well priced kit (tax free). We travelled with Neilson & had two fantastic reps who made things so easy for us, especially important as this was our first skiing trip. Our instructor was also superb & we enjoyed every minute of the holiday. Can't wait to go back!
Fantastic Hotel, Great Resort!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
In January 06 me and my partner stayed at the Sport Village Hotel in Soldeu, Andorra. I can honestly say that this hotel is absolutely fantastic, and the resort, and we’ve stayed in a few, is again fantastic. Hotel: The Sport Village is a fantastic hotel. The hotel rooms are extremely clean and with tasteful decoration. Especially the bathroom, with a powerful shower and good sized bath and an endless amounts of hot water. Each room also has its own mini-bar which is always stocked just in case. The hotel food is plenty and of a very high standard, with a great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights after a day on the slopes. One of the other main advantages of this hotel is the location in terms of the Gondola and the slopes. The Soldeu Gondola is within the hotel complex, and that the Soldeu slopes also come back to the hotel complex. Ski Locker: 10 seconds walk from the entrance of the Sport Village. My only concern is that on certain busy days you may return to your locker finding another persons ski/board gear as they are shared with other people from the hotel. This is not a problem though, but if your at all concerned lockup your equipment. Resort: Soldeu is truly a great resort, with pretty much everything located on a single through road. Restaurants are good and the bars are extremely good for a night out. Spa: What can I say. The Sport Complex Spa is truly outstanding. You also get a discount if you stay in one of the Sport Hotels. Either way, the spa is well worth the money. Slopes: Loads of blues/reds, some of which are a great challenge for both boarders and skiers. Some great off-piste for boarders. Avet (black) is a true challenge, and one you really should not try without being a very competent boarder / skier. Boarders can also enjoy a great park and quite a few tree runs. In summary, me and my other half had one of our best holidays in Soldeu. I completely recommend this resort, and especially the Sport Village Hotel.
excellent

Nice hotel but food pretty average
from leahwestern
We have just returned from a week at the Sport Village and overall I would say it is a good hotel. We had upgraded our room to a suite with jacuzzi which I would say is well worth after a day on the slopes! The room was great, very spacious with views over the mountain. However, unlike the previous review, I cannot say that I was very keen on the food. For a start, it was never hot and sometimes barely warm which you would not really expect from this standard of hotel. Nothing was labelled so you didn't know what you were eating until it was too late! I have to admit that I am a fussy eater but, even so, the food was pretty average. The staff are very friendly and to be fair to this hotel, I don't think the food is any better in any other hotel in Soldeu. But that is not the reason for going to Soldeu anyway I guess... In terms of the location, you couldn't ask for more. The hotel is right next to the gondola, ski hire and ski lockers which is very convenient. I actually had snowboarding lessons on this holiday which was fun but, in hindsight, I would have had a few private lessons rather than 15 hours group lessons as I think in a group of 10 it is very difficult to go at a pace that suits everyone. Overall, I would recommend Sport Village for it's spacious rooms and convenience and Soldeu is a great place whatever level you are at with your boarding/ski-ing. Any questions, let me know.
Amazing sport hotel village!!
from joules43
we have just returned from a weeks skiing holiday staying half board at the sport hotel village. It is an absolutely fabulous hotel with first class service and first class food. Breakfast was a choice of any of the contents of a full english, cereals, croissants, muffins, cookies, fresh fruit, yoghurts, any fruit juice you could think of - even peach!! It took us a couple of mornings to realise the champagne was not for decoration!! For breakfast - how decadent! Luch was usually a grabbed pizza up at the slopes - which incidentally we could get to from the gondola situated at the hotel doors! By the way lockers are free saving you 50 euros per locker (ideally fits equipment for 4 people). Evening meal (casual dress) consisted of a hot buffet including paella, steaks, canneloni, spaghetti bolognese, lamb steaks, tuna steaks, tortellini, chicken - the list was endless. If you have fussy children, there were still the old favourites like fish fingers and chips! Our bedroom was huge with lots of wardrobes, twin beds, ensuite bath with really good shower, 2 sinks, bidet, hairdryer. We also had a lounge area - really comfy sofa bed, easy chair, tv & balcony with small table and chairs overlooking the piste!! We would go again tomorrow! Superb!

A party of 30, with 16 Kids (9 Teenagers, 7 6-11 Yrs). Every Single One Of Us Loved It. My first ski trip (2002) we visited with just one other Family (I was 12 then), we arrived at 4am after the most dreadful journey ever experienced (our original flight was 2pm, we flew out at 10pm - and it didnt stop there) , walked through the twin set of Glass doors, dropped our bags, and then had to pick up ours jaws. The cavernous wooden balconies stretched far above our heads, illuminated by unintrusive and beautiful lights. And it's the same every time we visit ( I have skied seven times in 3 years, and six times I stayed at the Sport Hotel Village - the Seventh there was a conference, so we stayed at the 'Sport Village Lite' (the Sport Hotel) This is easily the best hotel I have ever stayed in, and several other people (my age, older and younger) are in accord with this statement. The rooms: not the largest, but very tastefully decorated, very luxurious, and if you get the right side of the Hotel, gorgeous views. Good wardrobe space, but bring your own Hangers. Bathrooms are very nice as well The food. My god the food. There is a buffet every night, with all sorts of culinary delights. Steaks, Burgers, Fish, Roast, Kebabs, Pasta...i could go on indefinetly. The Chef always has a special dish on, usually a dessert, which is always delicious. The facilities. Apart from being the prettiest hotel I ever laid eyes on (carved wood EVERYWHERE) , the Sport Village has a lot going for it. The bar is well stocked, not TOO pricey (it is a hotel), the toilets are well maintained and the lifts are exquisite. I may seem to be over using the superlatives but you have to see it to believe it. The pool table isn't the best, but I recommend The Aspen Bar for night-time entertainment. The staff: all very friendly, speak very good English but are delighted when you speak to them in Spanish. They often recognise us when we come back again, which is always nice. Anything else...oh yes. The hotel is briliantly located for the Gondola Station, and there are lockers opposite the main doors I CHALLENGE YOU TO NOT ENJOY THE HOTEL!
Great place, shame about the spa....

Had a week here, mid January, to go snowboarding. I have to say that the hotel was excellent, large, airy but well laid out. We had a twin room, despite asking for a double, but there was little difficulty in moving the beds together when we discovered that all the doubles had gone. The balcony looked out onto the piste, the in-room TV let us know that was going on the in world with the standard news channels (although there was little else) and the supply of hot water in the (modern and surprisingly spacious) bathroom was never ending! The only criticism that I would have about the room was the temperature, which seemed to always be on high when we returned after a day on the slopes. The staff at the front desk were friendly and spoke excellent English, and the waitress at our table always had a smile and a good recommendation for us. Food was buffet style, and never wonderful, but it was plentiful. My only real complaint was the spa! When we arrived we discovered that it had not been completed, although we were able to use the smaller spa over the road in the sister hotel, the Sport. All in all an enjoyable time, and I would definitely go back

Party of 12 people,5 kids on March 7th.Arrived after long bus journey due to0 heavy snow, journey back under 3 hrs.Family rooms had an upstairs with twin beds in both rooms-graet for the kids.Hotel was very relaxed and best in the resort, facing onto the main slope.Food, service, comfort, location and everything about this hotl was great.Lockers, ski hire and Gondala station all within hotel complex, making getting up to main ski area very easy once you'd got through the first day rush! The trip from the hotel to main ski area only takes about 10 mins and it was great to be able to ski back to the hotel by either blue, red or black runs. The weather and snow was really good with really warm days,so make sure you take suncream. Will return to this hotel at earliest opportunity-a fantastic hotel and great skiing.

Friendly staff, huge selection of great food, nicely decorated, well kept, lovely rooms, central location with good bars, shops etc just down the street, good views of the slopes, the gondola is just outside the hotel, everything was great, only 2 drawbacks, theres no pool... more
