" On arrival it was chaos in the... "

On arrival it was chaos in the reception with all the other new guests. We had to wait for our room to be cleaned and in the end we went to inspect the room and dump our cases off. We were disgusted when we looked in the room as it was like Goldilocks and the 3 bears, where the room hadn't been cleaned from where the previous occupants had upped and left early that morning, beds unmade, females hairs in the bin where she had brushed her hair that morning. My stomach churned. To top it off the room was tiny and you could hardly get in the bathroom to close the door behind you.
We kicked up a fuss at reception so they offered us another room, the other option was a room with bunkbeds. Anyone would have thought we were staying in a hostel.
We confronted the rep and demanded to be moved that night so we had to pay extra to be moved to a 4* hotel which she said we could claim back on our return to the UK. We only managed to get £50 each back for our further expense.
I would strongly advise anyone thinking about staying at the Chez Paulo to only stay there as a last resort! It maybe cheap but you get what you pay for in this instance.

" A group of us stayed at this hotel... "

A group of us stayed at this hotel last year on our first ski holiday. I wasn't impressed. There was four of us in one room that was too small, the curtains didn’t' close fully, the windows were poor and used to be iced up on the inside every morning.
The Ensuite bathroom was small but grubby and despite apparent cleaning every morning still looked the same. Also the hotel were very tight with toilet paper, I'm not sure why (Actually this seemed to be a problem widespread throughout Pas de la casa in clubs and pubs).
As for the decor around the rest of the hotel - paint chipping, hand rails on stairs and dado rails on the walls were missing or incomplete.
The lift broke the first day we arrived (we were stuck in it for awhile) and one of the other girls I was there with slipped down one of the steps the second day and sprained her ankle.
Also it was quite a distance up to the slopes in the altitude, however the hotel was close to where the bus dropped us off and to some fairly decent shops.
Breakfast was bread, cheese and maybe ham. Dinner was also poor and served on breadboards".
I researched this hotel as much as possible before going and I was very disappointed with it.

The breakfast was typical: bread cheese, ham, jam, croisants, fruit, coffee, juice. The evening meals however, were exceptional with about 4-6 choices of starter, 3 choices of main course and 4-6 choices of desert each day. Dishes included T-bone steak, salmon paella, mixed grill, lamb, chicken etc.. The service was the fastest I have ever encountered with no waiting ever after sitting down. The staff were friendly and efficient.
To me the meals more than made up for the basic rooms. The shower thing may worry some though.
The hotel is centrally located for the shops and not too far from the lifts and bars.
