San Andreu Hotel

The San Andreu is located at the top of Arinsal village about 5 minutes from the main gondola with glorious views down the valley.
Rooms are spotlessly clean and contain a very nice kitchenette and the all important tea and coffe making facilities. The hotel is always cosily warm but not stifling and, if you decide not to leave your gear in one of the many ski lockers on the mountain, has a very useful drying room. In addition to this the hotel has a nice sauna and a steam room for a small extra charge.
The food was pretty good and the guys work hard to make sure that everybody is happy and has everything they need. The focal point of the San Andreu is the bar where everything happens, you even check in at the bar. It's been newly refurbished and unlike some of the other bars in Arinsal seems bright and airy and a nice place to spend an evening. The highlights of our week were the hotel curry night, (the San Andreu is famous for it, in Arinsal anyway), and the Karaoke night which is great fun.
The location of the hotel means that you never have to walk up hill when skiing. It's a 5 minute walk down the hill to the main gondola and when coming off the mountain you can take the 2 man chair lift down the mountain which brings you out a 5 minute walk down the hill back to the hotel.
All in all the San Andreu works very hard to punch above its weight and manages to achieve this. We found the hotel quiet but within easy reach of the local nightlife, with nothing more than an easy 10 minute walk away. We'd have no hesitation in recommending the San Andreu to anybody looking for a good hotel in Arinsal and although the more experienced skier would probably want more than Arinsal has to offer it would make a perfect base for those new to the sport or just wanting to "Cruise the Blues".
