My wife and 5 year old son and myself arrived to a beautiful airport and were whisked away by the mini bus, i had to ask the driver to slow down as my son was at the back.
We were checked in with juice and a garland, All was going extremely well.
We were given a room with 2 single beds, hmm seeing as me and my wife are quite young i explained to the manager that we required a double bed as in the brochure and didnt mind my little son sharing with us, a polite 'no can do hotel is full' reply was given. After a 'stern will not accept' was replied by myself and 40 mins of complaining i was assured we would be given another room next day.
Apparently according to Baron Resort all 5 star hotels have single beds hmmmm.....( all OUR requirements were stated 3 months prior to arrival )...I was shown the room we would be moving into BUT as moving time came it all of sudden became unusable hmmm....but was given another room as a favour, OK OK we got our double bed finally with a see view as booked.....thankyou for the favour we had paid alot of money for.....
Its not all bad but it does get worse, at this point i must state the resort itself is very nice, lovely gardens and pool, the rooms were nice too. Let me state this now, 5 star in the normal world is different to 5 star in Egypt. THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL although it claims to be.
Lets talk about service, 1st of all its only male egyptian staff at this resort, you might find a hand full of eastern european women working here...
I would often see the staff being very freindly to all white guests and would walk past without even a smile for us.....(how strange)..
Lets talk about the other guests, it became very obvious to us and other british guests the Russians and Eastern Europeans dont wait their turn, no smiles, no thankyous,
One night i visited the midnight snack bar, as i sat down the staff didnt seem too happy as they thought they would be going home. I tried to enquire what was on offer but a half friendly dont worry dont worry was given and within 5 mins a plate of meat was put in front of me. Being HINDU not eating beef i asked what meat it was, the waiter laughed and simply said MEAT DONT YOU KNOW WHAT MEAT IS ? I explained that i dont eat beef for religious reasons at which point he started tell me it was beef and lamb, i told him i dont eat beef so somehow the beef on the plate turned into all lamb HMMMM
I asked to see the manager when i was told he was the manager oh oh.....i could hear sniggering in the kitchen at which point i deciced to play safe and went to my room and had some crisps........after complaining to the hotel manager he apologised and sent a couple of peices of fruit as an apology...WHATTTT
At this point let me warn all Hindus about BARON RESORT.....I peronally think the staff tried to make me eat beef deliberatley for their own pleasure
ON A finall note......if your british and asian stay away, the staff are rude and the Russian guests even ruder....I AM GLAD THERE WAS A FEW BRITISH FAMILIES THERE, SAYING GOOD MORNING AND HELLO IS VERY IMOPPORTANT ON HOLIDAY.......
P.S. We were on an all inclusive and food is catered for people with no taste buds seriously.......
Sorry for being so negative but i felt others should know.

This is not a 5 star hotel. The views are fantastic. The snorkelling is briliant but the hotel is very poor. Food is below average and if you want to be ill, it wont take long.
Rooms are clean and spacious but no bath.
Beach towels were stained and dirty.
If you like getting up at 6am to get a sunbed fine. And when I found two sunbeds together I was thrilled. Only to find out that I was in the firing line for the Aqua Polo football on the side of my head.
We moved to a proper 5 star hotel and it was great.
Choose very carefully before you book.

hotel superb, staff excellent very helpfull and funny, food could have been better but this might have been down to me having a upset tummy for 3 days just did not feel like eating or drinking,(think this happened when having a cup of tea off a shop owner when shopping in the resort, beware of the russians they ate everywhere and rude even the staff dont like them, entertainment not good, snokling was great,k tried it for the first time recomended, get a sign from the beach towel person that stops you being pestered on the beach, not sure i would go back only because it took so long to get there first choice aircraft are crap cramed in like sardines.

I am 9 and i thought it was fantastic the food was brill the swimming pool was hot but i had a tummy bug for 2 days beacause i accidently drank some of the swimming pool water and remeber to take lots of sun cream with you.As i was saying you have a number of options you want to eat and drink. The hot choclate, i had, was amazing there was also restaurants all over the place and even one down stairs. For adults there is bar down stairs by the restaurant if you decided you wanted to stay in you room you can order some food because there is a telophone in every room. There is a man which goes around he owns a company which can make a day for you to go on a trip me and my family went on a camel ride it was really fun.You also could go on a quad bike,in a hot air balloon and even have a go on a parachute so have a GO.

Yes the rooms are Ok, the beach reasonable but we had a torid time - as B and B we were made to feel unwlecome by the various restaurnat staff - arriving at 9pm it was impossible to eat as we had not booed before 9am which of course we could not do. We were endlessly asked "are you all inclusive" and when we said no it just became difficult. We have been to Sharm several times before (not to the Baron) and always found everyone friendly and helpful but not here! So don't go unless you are AI. And avoid the pool cafe - the food is awful and it took only 24 hours for 4 of the 5 in our party to have severe tummy troubles down to the reheated food served by the pool. Utterly unacceptable. We have never had any such problems in Sharm before but the Baron soon laid them low. We left after 3 days and insisted on being moved. Staff generally surly.

I cant understand what everyone is moaning about. I have just got back from 2 weeks at the Baron Resort and i couldnt fault it one bit. Well, maybe one thing. The beds around the pool. I havent a clue what time the russian guests were getting up to put their towels on but it must have been around 5am, the beds were then left empty all day up until 5pm!! What a waste. Just meant we sampled the beach more which was nice.
The Rooms - They were large, well maintained and very clean. We had a twin room which was 2 double beds so nothing to complain about there. It was overlooking the tennis courts and carpark which we preferred as it was quieter than the pool / sea view rooms. There was a large en suite bathroom which included everything - hair dryer, slippers, bath robes and all soaps, gels, shampoo's etc. They were even cleaned everyday which we thought wasnt needed as some days we were on excursions and hadnt even used the room.
The reason we stayed b&b is because we read the reviews regarding the all inclusive package and i think we made a wise idea, the breakfast was great and the staff were always happy to help, if they didnt have say apple juice that morning they would be happy to go and get some for you and things like that.
Food is cheap enough in Naama bay so dont feel you have to go all inclusive just to save money.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and is in a nice quiet location right on the beach. It is 5 star standard inside for sure with big high ceilings and bright marble floors. What i have read about the reception staff is hard to believe as we found them fine along with the bar staff who were very polite and also quite funny at times. If you feel they are being rude then they are just probably joking around as we found out ourselves. Especially Ahmed and Mohamed.
The restaurants within the hotel complex could do with a little improvement, the Italian is beautiful (if you can get a reservation) The Indian is ok but we only ate there once and the beach bar needs a few more options.
The pool bar is good and have a quite good choice on the menu.
We ordered room service a few times which was cheaper than the restaurants and just as nice.
There isnt much i can write about the beach as it was too hot when we went and an hour or 2 was the most we could handle, it is lovely though and well cleaned and looked after along with the pier and diving / snorkelling area.
Well, there isnt much more i can write apart from we will be going back to the hotel in future, maybe when the weather is a little cooler but the hot weather couldnt take anything away from this gorgeous hotel and resort.

Just returned from the baron resort last week and have to say it was a major disapointment. As it was our honeymoon, we had let thomas cook know, and had requested a sea/pool view and maybe hoped for a few little extras being a special time for us. We arrived to a room with a car park view with seperate beds, and they refused to move us unless we paid £12 per night extra, unbelievable!! And the reception staff were unhelpful and downright arrogant.
We were eventually offered a move to a room with double bed which was half the size with an even worse view, so seperate beds it was!! The all inclusive package was very misleading, it includes everything....except half the restauraunts, the tennis courts, the spa, the treatments etc......
The beach restauraunt was hilarious, we sat down, wondering why we were the only ones there, asked the waiter for a menu....only to be told we had a choice of a beef baguette or cheese baguette, like it or lump it, you couldnt make it up.
At night the Animation team did their best to entertain but apart from that there was no other forms of entertainment. On the good side the weather was amazing, the hotel is spotless and the pools are great, also most of the staff are very helpful ( specially when tipped). Overall we were very let down but had a good relaxing holiday none the less, but not great and never a 5 star in a million years.

Very poor, it was our honeymoon and we had requested a sea or pool view if possible with hopefully any extras. on arrival we had a desert view and a twin room (seperate beds) they wouldnt move us unless we paid £12.00 per night extra, and receptin men very arrogant and unhelpful.
Also all inclusive very misleading as it doesnt include the gym, tennis courts, spa, indian restaurant and .
Sinai buffet very basic and repetitive, trust me when youve eaten in there a few nights in a row youl understand what i mean, staff helpful if tipped...
Never a 5 star in a million years, weather great, hotel really clean but food and staff really let the place down, and the all inclusive is just laughable...
a big let down....never again

Arrival
We arrived on time and a little worried because of some of the recent reviews, we needn’t have been. We were welcomed of the bus, our luggage was tagged and taken to our room; we tipped but were not pressured to do so. At reception the whole process took about 10-15mins for 20 people, the staff were friendly, informative and obviously keen that we would enjoy our stay.
Room
This was better than we expected, pool view, clean, two bathrooms, mini bar; all that was advertised on line. We travelled with our four year old, and therefore had a third bed; however there was plenty of room. During our stay the room boy, kept us fully supplied with water; the room was cleaned immaculately. If we met him he would always enquire if everything was ok and ask if were enjoying ourselves. Again we tipped, but out of choice; and here is a little tip for you. If you are going to tip anybody, do it early in your holiday, maybe 70% of what you planned to tip; if you get the service give the balance at the end of your stay; this has worked for us worldwide.
Food
Firstly the Tiran restaurant, we arrived on a Thursday night at about 20.00hrs, we were hungry at went straight to the Tiran. Thursday is Mexican night and it was fantastic, we tried as much of the varied buffet as possible and we enjoyed it all, remember we have a 4 year old and she ate for England! Men please note long trousers for dinner, and no flip flops or sleeveless tops (Quite right, well done the management). You will find all the staff helpful, friendly and accommodating; the Chefs and management are continually checking the quality, temperature of food and replenishing the buffet.
Breakfast has a mixture of buffet, salads, eggs and waffles cooked to order, wonderful breads, yogurts, fresh honey, jams, cereals etc, etc. you will find something that suits. Yes you can by fresh orange, strawberry and mango juice at £2. We didn’t find this a problem as there are free juices available where you can also get specialist teas, occasionally our daughter wanted the fresh juice and two pounds hardly breaks the bank.
Lunch, we only used this on one occasion as preferred to eat at the pool bar for lunch. When we did eat there was a good choice and we ate well.
Dinner consisted of themed nights; it is worth finding out what is on when as this will help you when you book the al a carte restaurants. For example Thursday is Mexican, Saturday is fish. On the fish night, you can select fish to be cooked to order from the area where the eggs are cooked at breakfast. We selected Sea Bream and Red Snapper, gave our table number and 20 minutes layer we had the most beautiful fish dinner; obviously we ate a starter and some salad whilst waiting for the fish to be cooked. Our only gripe would be that the lighting is set very low, and as the fish is served on the bone filleting it for our 4 year old was difficult especially as she likes to do it herself. But hey, it tasted that good we soon forgot the lights. We tended to mix where we ate for dinner rotating between Paradise, Egyptian and the Tiran; this ensured things were not too repetitive, not that we found things to be so. Beers and Wine available, you will also have to top up on bottled water at lunch and dinner. Even though we didn’t use the lunch facilities the matre de fetched us water upon request, we also collected water at dinner.
Secondly, Paradise Pool Bar; Staff are all fantastic friendly, helpful, playful with children; we spent a lot of happy lunchtimes out of the sun. The lunch consisted of, Pasta, home made burgers, Sea Bass fillets, Pizzas, salads, ice cream; washed down with wine and water, delicious. Drink plenty of water as the temperature at lunch was often over 40 degrees. At night it becomes an al a carte, serving the most wonderful steaks and fish, you need to book the day before and it gets booked up fast; we booked at about 8am. You will also be approached to pay for this restaurant, for this you get a far more substantial choice; we tried this £42 for three people; however we couldn’t eat the amount they provided and felt the free menu plenty. But if you fancy some lobster or steak servings even the Americans couldn’t eat; then pay for the increased menu. Ice Creams are available from midday, but the bar opens at 10am; the beer is fine the wines is a typical house wine; we do not drink spirits so I can’t comment on these. Matter behind the Bar is a sudoko freak, take him some sudoko books and you will wait for nothing.
Thirdly, the beach bar; this is next to the Children’s play area on the beach; it serves the normal bar fare plus snack lunches, we didn’t use this as we didn’t fancy the menu or facilities.
Lastly, the Egyptian restaurant; found on Baron Boulevard amongst the shops; this was wonderful. Fresh pitta bread, houmas cucumber and yogurt dip plus various other Egyptian salads; great soups. Followed by various BBQ selections brought to your table on a mini BBQ. You will need to book the 24hrs ahead also, however for some reason it does not get booked as quickly. There is the usual all inclusive drinks and the pipes; we don’t smoke so we can’t comment.
The terrace bar is served by the friendliest bunch of lads; there are two duo’s that play salsa and easy listening six nights a week, three each. When the hotel is full it gets very busy.
The Zen disco opens at 10pm and is AI until 11pm,
Animation team, they are very friendly; not in you face pushing you to do things you do not wish. They also run the Kids club which we found great, this mini disco starts at 8-30pm and features Shimpa (photo attached) this was a cuddly chimp character, who dances and entertains; our daughter loved it. The shows were Ok if a little to fire based
Pools and sunbeds, please remember because of the Euro exchange rate Egypt is great value for money and is therefore full. We did get up at 7-30am because we wanted beds around the Kids pool/club; if you want beds by the Bar you will need to do the same; however if you are happy at the other end by the Towel team, you should have no problems. The pools are fantastic and the water is warm enough to bath in come the afternoons.
Beach/snorkelling, the snorkelling is great, although we found Marsa Alam to have more varied fish. There is a natural pool (the resorts name) found just beyond the Conrad hotel, this is worth a visit you will snorkel on your own without the pushy Russians who stay in the Baron Resort next door. This fish in this lagoon are bigger and more plentiful. The beach itself is very clean, child friendly; but we were worried about the sun; serious sun bathers seemed to use it most.
Overall, we found this resort wonderful, do not blame the hotel for overbooking for example hotels4u have 10 rooms block booked but often send as many customers as 60 rooms; where are they supposed to stay? This is the same of the other operators also. Do not blame the hotel for poor flights, late flights etc etc. this hotel far exceeded what we expected, it is not a USA 5 star; however it is definitely a Caribbean, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek etc 5 star. If you are unhappy Ghassan Dhal the hotel General Manager will sort it, you won’t need an introduction as you will see him continually quality checking, he doesn’t miss a trick.
Stomach upsets, we experienced this last year and were given some tips, we used them this year and we had no problems. These are caused in the main from 3 things, too much sun, not enough water and the air con in you room being too high. Firstly, drink mint tea as often as possible, aids digestion and settles the stomach; you will find this in all the restaurants. Drink at least 3 ltrs of water a day, if you get a headache this is probably dehydration, take a dehydration sachet, you find these in supermarkets and chemists in England; they can be taste masked with blackcurrant. If you buy them from the pharmacy in Egypt they will taste foul. Keep your air con as low as possible, it shouldn’t keep kicking in during the night; if it does it’s set too high. If you are in extreme heat all day and then go into a freezing room your body will react unfavourably. Stomach upsets are not the food, the kitchens are independently checked, all food is temperature controlled and we ate in all restaurants and had no problems, when people complained of stomach problems, I suggested the above and they were better within 24hrs and bar none they admitted to being sunburnt and having the air con on full because they were so hot.
Just go and enjoy yourselves

I went with my friends (all girls) to sharm el sheikh last summer in june 2010. we booked with thomas cook which is the worst airlines I have ever travelled with. Departing from London Gatwick it was two hours delayed. Then coming back from Sharm it was 5 hours delayed and we landed at 3am in london. When arriving at Sharm the mini bus was there to pick us up. The hotel generally is very nice. Very clean. Staff are very friendly when you need help and the breakfast was good. A variety of choice. As we did not have all inclusive, we had to pay for the food in the evenings which was expensive and average.
However, if you want to stay on the beach for seven days then you will love it. But if you want to get out the hotel area and go "sightseeing" there is not much there and the thomas cook staff are not helpful either. To be honest they were trying to make money by making people book "activities" and one lady said that Barack Obama was staying in one of the hotels. Who would believe that?
There is also a free shuttle from the hotel going to the town "nama bay" but you have to be aware that the shuttle only stays for two hours (we were not aware of this before) in the city and then you either jump back in the shuttle or you are stranded. We had to take the local bus back and it was a nightmare.
Many people had stomach problems (including my firend) we went to the chemist at the hotel area and I do not believe there were qualified people working behind the counter who could barely speak english and giving out tablets which were over priced.
Overall the hotel area is nice and staff are friendly but if you would like to do more than just laying on the beach then I would not recommend this place.
