This was a fantastic holiday! The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are large with air conditioning, your own bath robe, and slippers.
We arrived late evening and were welcomed with a cocktail drink at reception and hot towels to refresh ourselves and on being seen to our room we were greeted with a platter of fresh food and bottled water.
The staff cannot do enough for you in this hotel and everyone always has a smile on their face. The pool is fantastic and if you prefer the beach it is a 5 minute walk and when you get there, there are plenty of sun loungers and your own beach bar that has drinks and snacks.
Food fantastic for all-inclusive and so are the drinks! I can't recommend this place highly enough.

We have just returned after spending 14 days at this resort. 10 out of 10 is really not enough a rating 15 out of 10 at least! I could not fault any aspect of this hotel.
All the staff spoke excellent English and were so very kind. We found the food served in the Tiran Restaurant superb and did not try any of the other locations available to us.
The beach is good with plenty of sun beds, easy access into the water and for the more adventurous the pontoon gives access to deep water for excellent snorkelling.
One small criticism we did have a massage and found this very disappointing, the masseurs did not enquire as to our medical history, both of us have had spinal surgery. What should have been a relaxing experience turned out to be very painful and one we regretted undertaking. The masseurs did not seem interested in providing a good result; the massage was disjointed and brief.
We booked this holiday with Portland Direct, who come under the auspices of Thomson’s who provided our rep, Dee.
This young lady was brilliant, so helpful and knowledgeable of the local area, I cannot sing her praises long or loud enough. Thomson’s please note, do not loose this lady she is an asset.

Visited the Baron Palms for 2 weeks on an all inclusive basis. in our party was myself, husband and 14 yrs old son, We had a fabulous time and I cannot wait to go back (hopefully in November for my birthday).
The staff are the best I have ever known from a hotel, from the restaurant waiters Yasser,Samir,Sammie and also Atef one of the excellent chefs, who always made by pasta sauce spicy for me, When we walked in we were shown to a table straight away and given fresh water and our orders for drinks taken immediately.
As for the pool area fantastic, again excellent staff who where Amir,Ahmed & Arafat who kept the pool area spotless, clean and safe, every morning the placed out the hotel towels out for us after we had placed out own on the sunbeds.
Drinks brought round, cool face cloths and sunglasses cleaned what more could you ask for, we would just like to say a big hello to all the staff and hope to see you again soon,
Also please try to Egyptian restaurant which is also included on the package it was fab and finished of the night smoking the shisha pipes (very nice!).
The poolside restaurant was managed by the lovely wahell who was fluent in various languages, during the day you could get fresh burgers, pizza. Chips etc, on a night time this became and beautiful candlelit area, fantastic.
Not really that much to do on a night time but we were so tired from getting up early, going to the pool & snorkelling at the beach we really didn’t care.
The most relaxing holiday I have ever been on and also got a fab suntan.
Again thanks to all the staff at the baron pals hope to see you all soon
Mandy, John & Daniel.

We could not fault this resort. One of the best hotels we have stayed at.
The staff could not do enough for you. Very friendly staff, possibly for a tip at the end of the week! But they depend on this as the wages are very low.
However we did not mind the fact that we did not have to move off our sunbed for drinks or food for a couple of pounds at the end of the week. Very clean, well maintained and the food was superb. Choice of 3 restaurants and others nearby you can pay to eat out at.
Change your money in Egypt for a better exchange rate, where we stayed they preferred you to pay in Egyptian pounds.
Did 2 trips - Day trip on a boat with snorkelling and lunch, well worth the money as you are accompanied by expert divers who will point out all the fish you might miss, wonderful lunch on board. Afternoon quad bike ride into the desert, great fun!
Be prepared for the couple of stops to buy drinks and they try really hard to sell you a DVD and photos at the end....remember your a tourist and they have to make a living! Where old clothes as you come back filthy.
Stay here for a relaxing stress free holiday, not if you like lively clubs, and pubs.

Just returned from Barons Palms Resort, short note just to say that we enjoyed this hotel very much.
Very clean, good selection of food, no upset tummies, polite and helpful staff at all times.
Not a lot to do at night but did not find this a problem, fabulous beaches with bar on beach that served lunch.
Only complaint was at airport going home!
Security man at passport control touched my breast on purpose. I felt intimidated and wanted to tell him off, but was advised to say nothing, this is so wrong, so watch out if you are female please.

We chose this hotel after reading other reviews which were good. We were also worried about getting jippy tummy/diarrhoea which thankfully we didnt.
The hotel itself was spotlessly clean, and continued to be cleaned throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious and had a tv, hairdryer, bath robes and free slippers. There was a mini fridge with 2 bottles of water on arrival, but nothing after unless you paid. We thought this was a bit mean as we were all inclusive.
The poolside was great, plenty of sun beds and parasols. The attendants would put your towel on to reserve if you wanted and they would expect a tip, but this was unnecessary and we didn’t encourage this. The service didn’t seem to change if you did tip, so it was a pointless exercise.
The food was fine, however tended to be a little repetitive. Theme nights included oriental, Mexican, Egyptian seafood and European. However if you didn’t like a particular style, there were no other basics to choose from as selection wasn’t as great as what you would expect from hotels in Europe. All the hotels seemed to follow this theme. The restaurant was lovely and service was quite good as was the poolside snack restaurant which doubled as a fine dine place at night which would require bookings. Salad was washed in bottled water, and ice cubes made from bottled water.
The nighttime entertainment was poor and was held in the outdoor amphitheatre, chilly at night in Feb so take a jumper. Not much around the hotel so you would need to take a taxi if you wanted alternative shopping or nightlife.
Also plenty sun beds on the private beach, which had a floating jetty. Great to snorkel off, watch out for the jellyfish though.
The only downside we experienced was that on arrival, there was no welcome drink, and we had to wait in reception for 55 minutes to be processed. We do not know whether this was because the person who processed us was slow, but 2 other couples came later but were shown to their rooms a lot quicker than us. Not very good when you've had a long journey.
The other problem we experienced was in the piano bar, the waiters took a long time to serve us, even when there was no-one else waiting. At one point, my husband jokingly picked up one of the waiters trays and pretended to serve himself. They laughed but we didn’t have to wait again.
Other than these two blips, we did enjoy the hotel. Don’t be fooled into tipping, our rep told us we do not have to do it unless we receive exceptional service, so we didn’t.
At the airport, don’t queue for a visa unless you are leaving the resort, as you don’t need one. They don’t tell you this though, so some people were buying one but didn’t need it.
Overall, great clean hotel, food ok, service slow. Not a true 5*.

The hotel and facilities were excellent and of a very high standard. The setting was beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful.
My only complaint is that the standard and quality of food was not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel.
We tried all the available restaurants in the hotel complex and were disappointed every time, much of the food we found virtually inedible.
By the end of the holiday we were eating little more than soup and bread rolls. Sadly the best meal I had all holiday was on the plane coming home (certainly not a recommendation).
I like foreign food and exotic flavours and am adventurous in my approach to food - so it is not that the food was different - without exception it was either under or over cooked and did not offer the quality and variety that I expected.

I have only just joined this site, but this hotel I have stayed at now 7 times in a row.
It is without a doubt the best most relaxing and friendly place we have ever been.
I have been Canada Tunisia Mustiqe Barbados to name a few. Without a doubt The Baron has made us feel so comfortable and "at home" that we go back.
I am going again in June for what will be 2 weeks of perfect sun food and comfort.
Everything you want is there plenty of food choices, great diving as it is on probably the best reef other than Ras Mohamed.
Proof of the pudding is that all the dive companies charge a fortune to go boat diving and where do you end up!
Correct on the Baron reef - after you have been to Jackson’s reef nearer to Tiran Island.
Save your money and shore dive with Sinai dive club "attached to the baron" if you do not dive there are still loads to do. Sun beds with mattresses and plenty to go around.
No more beating the Germans. The Baron is spotless and if you have a problem it is sorted there and then.
If you want a holiday with peace and relaxation in mind in surroundings to cater this then go no further. I hope everyone has the same experience as us.
A fantastic 2 weeks holiday, twice a year in quite frankly, the best hotel in Sharm and we recommend to you.
Friendly staff that care and have time for whatever you need.

OK, so maybe this hotel is not quite 5*. There are no tea making facilities in the rooms for example, and they charge for freshly squeezed juice at breakfast, which I felt was petty on all inclusive, but these are minor quibbles.
The hotel is fairly small when compared to the others around it but I felt this was an advantage. We spent a highly enjoyable 10 days chilling out and if this is what you seek, look no further.
We had friends staying next door at the Conrad Hotel and they spent the week with Egyptian tummy and after visiting their hotel, I knew we had made the right choice.
They came round to the Baron Palms each day as they felt it was so much better. A big plus is the lack of rude Russians at this hotel. Most of the guests were British.
The food was good, with a wide selection and when we made a minor complaint that some food one night was not very hot, for the rest of the holiday the staff ensured it was piping hot. They did take note.
The entertainment was low key but this did not bother us as we were there for the sun and there were not many children.
All meals are buffet style with a good selection for both lunch and dinner. Lunch can also be taken at the poolside restaurant, which we preferred. There was a good selection here including Sea Bass, which I think my wife had every day. Plus fresh made pizza, homemade burgers and much more.
Afternoon tea is served at 4pm and we really looked forward to this after a day in the sun. The cakes were delicious.
There is a shopping area directly outside the rear of the hotel and if you want a change of menu then there is an Egyptian and Indian Restaurant here, which the hotel gives you credit to use towards the cost.
The hotel is clean and the staff very friendly and hard working. Do take the day snorkelling boat trip. The fish at the last of three stops doing the day are amazing. A real experience and good value. Equipment is included.
My wife is a Travel Agent and we do not often return to the same place twice but we are just booking a return to the Baron Palms in March.
If you want to chill out, buy two or three good books and enjoy.

Returned from the Baron Resort on 3 December 2006. We have travelled all over the world and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sharm El Sheikh.
The only draw back was the airport, it must be the most disorganised airport in the whole world and it definitely needs major improvement, both for inbound and outbound flights.
Back to the Baron Resort it is definitely a 5 star hotel, staff couldn't do enough for you, there were staff even dusting the leaves of the indoor plants, nothing was to much trouble for them. Our room was excellent and had a fantastic view of tirian island and the sea, room service was really good.
Food was really good and you had a good choice of restaurants to choose from.
The animation team had just changed the day after we arrived and were excellent, they tried their best to get guests involved but did not push you if you just wanted to relax (I enjoyed the beach volley ball).
We have a daughter who is nearly 4 yrs old and the mini club was excellent although she was probably the only English toddler there, she really enjoyed it (many thanks to Lola). The Manager even gave her a VIP card to order any food she wanted when we went to the speciality nights.
The Hotel Manager and also the Area Manager were always at hand and coming around to ask you if everything was ok.
All the staff were genuinely friendly and our daughter was always the centre of attention with them (being blonde blue eyed and cuddly helped).
The snorkeling from the hotel reef was excellent and you could see different species of fish every time you snorkeled, our daughter even tried it and thought it was great.
The majority of guest were Russian but we found this to be a pleasant change being in the minority and once you got to know them (Russians) enjoyed their company, mainly in the volley ball.
We would definitely go back to this hotel and would consider taking the mother-in-law who is 81yrs old and needs a wheelchair to get around, as it is wheelchair friendly.

We stayed at the Baron Palms for a week on a package from Longwood holidays. The Longwood staff were first class at the airport and the transfers were good.
The hotel is very pleasant and we were greeted with cold flannels and a drink whist booking in. The staff were very helpful and pleasant although I would have expected a few more waiters and bar staff for a hotel of this size.
The room was spacious and well equipped. The only downside for us was the mattress was very hard. The bathroom was well equipped with the usual bathrobes and toiletries. The shower was out of this world, so powerful you could not turn it on full. We left a tip of 2 dollars a day for the cleaner who made us very impressive towel-art each day.
The main restaurant is a buffet style with a different theme each night. We found the variety and quality of the food very good. There are other restaurants you can use if you book before midday. The paradise pool serves candle light meals and was a pleasant change.
The pool is large but unheated. We found it was too cold to swim at this time of year. I think everyone else did as well as I only saw a couple of people go in the whole time we were there. The sea was much warmer.
The private beach is about 200 metres from the hotel and is accessed by a walk down the Baron Boulevard. There is a beach bar which also offers snacks.
It is not possible to snorkel off the beach but the hotel has a large jetty leading directly to the reef. The reef is beautiful with numerous varieties of fish.
Overall the hotel was very good and we had an enjoyable holiday. The only drawback was once again the return through Sharm airport which is chaos. I was hoping the new terminal would be open but it looks as though that is still some way off.
We fly with Monarch this time and found the aircraft very cramped. The seats were 3, 3, 3 and the legroom was awful. I will never fly Monarch again.

Hey all just got back from holiday from this beautiful hotel. Anyone deciding to go to Sharm I would recommend this hotel to everyone brilliant for kids as well as adults. I’ve just been with friends and it was amazing.
Lovely beach, the pools were lovely and clean water was just rite. Plenty of activities to do so you’ll never get bored. I would advise anyone to definitely pay a visit to quad biking is an amazing experience. This hotel is about 15 min drive from Naama bay hold on tight though when you get into your taxi, taxi fare for us was 40 le around 4.00 in the uk. This town has awesome night life went to the hard rock cafe also pacha which they call the bus stop is wicked.
Plenty of restaurants to eat from at reasonable prices, loads of shisha places to go to... Also Sharm is a place you must see as well don’t be put off by all the shop keepers trying to sell you just about everything they can... The hotel itself is immaculately clean. We stayed in twin rooms which were very spacious and cleaned everyday.
Staff were very friendly and kind, can take a while for them to understand you however when they do they are very helpful.. Over all was a fab holiday will definitely go back there again.

My husband and I had been to this hotel twice before with my mother-in-law, but this time we decided to take our three nephews aged 9, 12 and 15.
Firstly, there's the airport when you arrive. You have to queue for around half an hour to give the official £15 per head, he puts two stamps in your passport and then you go and join another queue for ten minutes to pass another official, who checks those stamps in your passport. Then, before you get on the coach, somebody else must check them again!
When we arrived our passports were taken from us by the reception staff and we were told they would be given back within 24 hours but they weren't. It took three days to get the children’s passports back.
The reception staff remembered us from our previous stays, which was a little surprising, I mean it's not like we were high-profile, or made a fuss or anything. They just seem to pay attention to detail. Similarly the staff in the Indian and Italian restaurants, they remembered I was vegetarian. The staff hadn't changed and neither had the menu's. (Only the prices)
To obtain Duty Free goods in Egypt, you must present yourself at the Duty Free Shop within 48 hours of arriving in resort. There was one at Naama Bay but they stocked few international brands. My tipple of choice is vodka and orange and I thought I'd stock up for evening drinks on our balcony. The vodka was like rubbing alcohol and the orange was like undiluted squash. (Surprising what you will get used to when times are hard!) They do specifically say in the literature left in your room that you may not consume your own alcohol on the premises, but we simply kept it out of sight and didn't get caught.
My husband, Daniel, is not one for relaxing and, given the choice, would spend his whole time climbing around and exploring. In deference to my reduced abilities, he is kind enough to take beach holidays these days in hotels right by the sea, so I don't have to walk too far. The first time we went to The Baron I was worried that he'd be bored for two weeks solid.
However, the marine life was such that he had an absolutely fantastic time. To get into the water you have to walk along a jetty made of, what appears to be, large, children’s, plastic, play blocks. They are lashed together in rows of four and you have to walk on them whilst they bob about on the sea. It's like walking on a semi-motion water bed. The reason you have to use the jetty is that the shore is covered in coral reef and it needs to be protected from damage.
Once you get to the end, however, the snorkeling is well worth the walk. The sea is beautifully warm and the fish are so used to people, that they just drift away gracefully when you try to touch them. Word-of-warning. Don't go anywhere near the Lion Fish, which are black and white striped with spines all over them and very poisonous! There is usually a guard there to warn you away from them if one comes near you. They like the dark under the jetty and don't like people, so, in the main, you are quite safe. If you can't swim then go when there is a guard on duty and tell him you want to go into the water but that you can't swim. He will put a life belt on you and hold onto the rope whilst you have a snorkel about in complete safety.
My husband and two of the boys spent several hours a day swimming with their snorkels off the end of the jetty whilst I lazed about by the sea-pool with the youngest. At that time of year the sea-pool was of a temperature suitable for swimming in. Not so the main pool. I would have gone in the main pool but for the fear of having a heart attack from the shock of the cold.
The weather was around 24 degrees most days with the air-conditioning individually controlled in each room, so if it was too hot for us, particularly at night, then there was respite available.
The rooms were very nice and kept immaculately clean. (Pity the poor person who had to clean up after our boys!) The fridge unit has a little safe built into it so you can keep your valuables locked up, but the fridge wasn't very cold. We had a basket of fruit delivered to our rooms three times during our stay which was a lovely touch. Housekeeping leave you all the normal things like shampoo and body lotion in practical, usable quantities, but they also leave you some washing powder so you can wash out your costume. Another nice touch, I feel.
There were four main restaurants on the resort. Italian, Indian, the buffet and the fish restaurant. We tried all of them although at the fish restaurant I just watched everyone else eat then had something in my room later. I admit to being a fussy veggie but there was not much on the complex for me to eat really.
The Indian and Italian restaurants were not like Indian and Italians at home. I think the Italian uses a strange mozzarella on its pizza and the Indian food is way more astringent than we are used to. It must be the area of India the chefs are from I guess, because we are used to sweeter food with more coconut. The Buffet restaurant was very expensive, by Egyptian standards, and the only time we ate there we didn't like the fare very much, so we didn't go back again.
Naama Bay: The first two times we went to The Baron we did our trips to Naama Bay by taxi. It cost around 45 le each way which is around £4.50 for a 20 min trip. The hotel calls the taxi for you and I think they only call registered taxi's. We found it comforting to arrange a time and place for the same driver to pick us up again afterwards. The taxi rank is a little frightening, though. There are around one hundred taxi's, each with a driver calling at you to get into his cab.
All taxi drivers drive at night with no lights. They switch them on for a moment when they see another car coming towards them. It saves on battery usage, you see. This is okay on the main road into Naama Bay which is well lit, but on the little road leading to the hotels, this can be quite disconcerting. I am a nervous passenger at the best of times, so when we discovered that the mini-bus run by the hotel was safer we started taking that instead. Like all things Egyptian, though, it runs to "Egyptian time", which means late.
We went into Naama Bay four times during our two week stay and had dinner at the Hard Rock twice which cost around £300 LE (£30) for the five of us and included two cocktails each. Very good value for money and the boys loved it. We also ate at the Pizza Hut which cost around 150 LE and at a restaurant called "The Dananeer". Everyone but me loved the Dananeer, Billed as a sort of "Surf n Turf" it served, according to my family, the most delicious food, which is still the highlight of the holiday for them. They weren't too good with vegetarians though. I asked for tomato soup to start which was just sieved tomatoes with no sugar to take the bitterness off and no herbs to add interest. Then I wanted just chips for my main course but they never came. Once again, I was left just watching everyone else eat and having something from room-service when we got back. I can see why they enjoyed it so much though, it was all beautifully presented. You will find it near McDonalds up a flight of stairs on the side of the building.
Room service was reasonably priced and food was delivered hot and promptly. We all enjoyed the "Chocolate Cake" which could be anything from chocolate mouse flan to apple tart with chocolate shavings. We would compare notes each day to see what "Chocolate Cake" was delivered to the other room the night before.
You don't need too much insect repellant if you are staying at The Baron because they go around the bushes and foliage every evening around 5pm fumigating out the insects. When they are not smoking out, however, the flowers smell beautiful and, like many first class hotels in Egypt, men spend all day tending the gardens and washing the walkways.
Apart from in the massage studio there was only one woman working in the hotel at the concierge desk. This is because, generally speaking, women don't work in Egypt.
Also, this is not a residential area so there are few locals to staff the hotels. They all live in and young women wouldn't be allowed to live away from home without the protection of their family, so if you do see them working at the hotel they will be there being chaperoned by their brothers.
You won't need towels either, they are supplied daily by the pool, just present your towel card.
The hotel caters mostly for Russian and Italian guests, so it's always surprising when the staff say "Good morning" in English. Maybe it's the way we dress which makes us stand out as English. The Russians simply ignore everyone but at least they are polite enough to step out of your way. Not so the Italians who walk straight ahead regardless of who is coming towards them.
Whilst we were there my husband and I had a massage. An experience never to be repeated. I asked for an aromatherapy massage. I envisaged a gentle rub-down with exotic fragranced oils. Not so. What I got was a thorough working over by some body building sadist! I thought I would never walk, sit or lie down again without pain.
Just one last point. We traveled with Thomas Cook again (all our holidays for the past seven years have been with Thomas Cook) and weren't disappointed. They do what they do very efficiently without being pushy. Flights leave on time, cabin crew are friendly and helpful and resort reps are well informed.
All-in-all, a highly recommended hotel if what you want is total relaxation.

We have just returned from the Baron Resort Hotel with our two children and had a fabulous week in the sun.
The hotel reception sets the standard with beautiful views over the gardens and beach. We had a family room which was spacious, bright, and cleaned each day (recommend sea view).
The swimming pool is huge, with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas, we never felt crowded. The beach is beautiful with great snorkeling from the jetty. Mind the steps from the jetty into the sea, they can be quite slippy! The coral reef and different types of fish are fantastic.
We were on a bed and breakfast basis and ate at the Italian and Indian Restaurants which were both very nice.
A trip to Naama bay is a worthwhile experience, very buzzy, lots of restaurants and shops, and we were offered many camels for the children! Don't be put off by where the shuttle bus drops you, once you walk to the main market and beach front areas, its fine. We got a taxi back to the hotel, which is an experience, agree the price first and then hold on tight!
We had a great holiday and would definitely go back to the peace and tranquility of the Baron Resort.

New AI hotel opened end of 2005-adjoins Baron Hotel and has lovely private beach with AI drinks and sandwiches during the day. Accomodation, food.
staff and service all excellent. Rooms have views of garden or great pool area. Buffet lunch or good snacks in pool resturant. Great and different themed buffet every night or excellent meal by the pool.
Also an Egyptian resturant we didn't try as we were enjoying the others so much. Various bars to drink in and afternoon tea and cookies in veranda bar very relaxing. Weather in March was ideal.
Appeared to be a good kids club but evening entertainment was poor. I would definitely recommend hotel and might go back once they extend and improve the airport.
