More Traveller Reviews of Vista Picas Apartments

Excellent, family friendly accomodation and resort, worth going back to!
We travelled as two families, both having two children each (6, 6, 3 and 2yrs). We booked Vista Picas apartments after reading numerous good reviews and after recommendation from our travel advisor. When we booked we had requested adjoining ground floor apartments and considering we booked 8 months before we actually went, thought that there would be no problem but unfortunately when we got there we had been given one ground floor and one first floor apartment. We did bring this up with the rep who was very helpful and approachable but the apartments were all full at that point so we just left it how it was and to be honest it wasn't a problem in the end and gave us each our little bit of space so we weren't in each others pockets. The whole complex is spotless and the maids came into our rooms 5 times in the 2 weeks we were there although we did speak to people who had only had them in twice but i'm sure if you request for change of sheets, towels, etc... it'd be fine as everybody is very helpful and always willing to please. People have mentioned noise from the bars in some reviews, well we had been put quite near the main culprit 'The Blue Breeze' bar and i can honestly say there was only one night where it was a bit of an issue although the kids were out like a light and never once had their sleep disturbed. The entertainment from the complex finishes at 11pm but isn't every night. I'd say this is quite loud and if you had really small children and put them to bed early you might be bothered by it but we never was as kept the kids up with us anyway to enjoy the holiday atmosphere! The resort of Cala n Forcat has got everything you need and is all in easy walking distance. The only downfall i'd say is the fact it's just a bit too English so if you're going to experience other cultures, this resort is not for you! Have to say though, we ventured out a few times to Cuitudella, Son Bou and Cala Galdana which aren't as English and have the beaches where the locals go, and getting the buses is really easy. We asked Lindsay in reception on what time and where to get buses and she knew all the details. That's better then asking the reps, they'll just try to sell you one of their expensive trips as a way of seeing the island and from what we heard most of them are just not worth the money. Obviously because the Euro is really bad at the moment, things are quite expensive. As a family of 4, self- catering we spent £1,400 in 2 weeks and think a budget of £100 per day is a good starting point. If you've got older children you must definitely go to the water park. A short walk round the corner and a really good day out (for the adults aswell!). Still fun for the little ones but probably not worth the money as much as they can't get the benefits of the whole park. We met lots of people in our 2 weeks and met 2 different families that were on their fourth year on the trot to Vista Picas! It does seem to be a place that people just keep going back to and i have to say we will probably be another family to go back, as had such an amazing time and was really sad to come home!
peacefull and relaxing
we stayed in room 121 on the ground floor, the apartment was clean and tidy, the kitchen was basic; no can opener or decent corkscrew being our main minus points. The bathroom towels had seen better days and didnt get changed as often as i would have liked. I found the apartment security to be slightly worrying as anyone wanting to break in would find it very easy, the bedroom had shutters that would be easy to pry open, so a safety deposit box was hired straight away. The terrace was very private with a little garden as we had a corner bungalow, though a path did run the perimeter so we had the occasionaly family walk past, but it was very peaceful. On an evening the noise from bars and restaurants next door could be heard until the early hours but i cant say it bothered us much, in fact it was nice to come back from a meal and listen to music from the live performers but light sleepers beware! The heat was also a major problem on a night, god only knows what it is like in july/august. Air con is a neccesity which is not provided. The pool area was really nice and spacious, lots of sun beds no need to be up at the crack of dawn, massive pool with a kids pool seperate to the main one. The pool bar was nice aswell serving a variety of food and drinks with inside and outside seating. Entertainment was provided most nights but we ventured elsewhere. The staff are all really pleasant and friendly, theres a car hire office on sight and theres a bus stop right outside the complex, also 2 supermarkets accross the road. I really enjoyed the holiday the pool really made it relaxing and any faults i found were not major, we would definetly go there again, the only thing that puts me off the area of calan forcat is that its very English and doesnt seem to cater for anyone wanting to enjoy the spanish culture, that has to be sought out in cuitadella, 10 minutes bus ride away.
Great Island shame about location of Vista Picas
We have just returned home after a week at Vista Picas in Cala'n Forcat. We were allocated apartment 141 which is so close to the bar area you may as well be sitting it it! If it wasn't football on the TV from 8.30am to 11pm it was pop music and TV adverts unless there was a show on between 9.30pm and 11.30pm when the music was even louder. We were next to the games room which had an annoying kiddies ride that churned out the same tune after a lapse of about 1 minute in between. This marred our holiday as we like to have peace and quiet when relaxing outside our accomodation or when trying to get a relatively early night. When we complained (before we unpacked our cases) we were told that the other apartments in the complex were even noisier. We hired a car to visit various places around this beautiful island and are so glad that we did. Cala'n Forcat has a wealth of 42" screens in all of the bars and restaurants which show mostly football matches or comedy videos. Also there were bars with Tribute Bands on or Karaoke which is OK if you like this sort of thing. Mostly the bars and restaurants had very few people in them as the end of the season seems to arrived a few weeks earlier than usual. We may visit Menorca again for some late summer sun but will look for a private villa or some more seculded apartments. We like to visit nightlife not be part of it!
great apartment, shame about the noise
Booked this last minute through Thomsonfly for 3 nights for £115 before moving on to our package holiday round the corner to the Binimar. Got to the airport and found it was cheaper to get a taxi (55 Euros)to Cala'n Forcat than to travel with the reps (68 euros). The apartments themselves are fantastic, spacious, airy with lots of windows and doors and the facilities in the kitchenette great. The apartments are clean and well equipped. The staff, especially the receptionist were brilliant, the food good and the pool very good. The only downside was, we were in room 222, which overlooked a childrens play area on the main strip. The noise went on until the early hours with screaming kids and the roar of the mini go-karts and with the cleaning of the area and the dustman in the middle of the night made it noisy. Would have given it a 5, only the noise did spoil our sleep.
1st visit but not the last
Visited these apartments with my sister and my two 23yr old daughters. I chose this complex having read the many positive reviews on several websites. We weren't disappointed. Our trip was good value and the apartments were great. Small kitchen but who cooks a roast when on holiday! The whole complex was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The pool was lovely large and beautifully clean. cala'n Forcat had plenty of reasonably priced restaurants. food similar in most. The square in the centre had good bars and fun entertainment - mostly tribute bands. We had a lovely relaxing time although if you don't have children would advise you go before the schools break up. Wil definitely go again.
Excellent Appartments
We have just returned from a week at the Vista Picas Appartments. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. They are excellent , large pool, spacious grounds and very clean. We had a 2 bedroom appartment which was large with 2 toilets. There is no rush for sunbeds but people were getting up to bag the sun shades, so you will need to be up early if you required one of those. Bar food was good and they offer anything off the menu to take away too. Supermarket that sells every thing just outside the complex. Beach at Cala n Forcat is very small so we tended to stay at the pool where there was plenty of room. Do hire a fan as there is no air con and it was still very hot at night.
Great Apartments - ideal for young children
Just returned from a weeks holiday - it was great. Decided to take my 1 year old away whilst we were having building work done at home. Left hubby at home and went off to menorca with nana & baby. The apartments were spotless - ideal when you have a little one crawling everywhere. Well equiped - toaster, kettle, pots, pans, etc, etc. Stayed in room 107 which faced the pool but was far enough away not to hear children playing in the pool - ideal when little one needed his morning nap. Moved sunbed outside appartment so could sunbathe and still be right next to little one. Had evening entertainment every other night. Riverdance was ab fab! Two supermarkets opposite the complex which opened from 8am - 10.30pm every day. Well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Staff were at. Cala N Forcat had restaurants that catered for everyone. Ate at a different one every night. Daisy Restaurant was excellent & great value for money - 3 courses for 10 euros with some free wine thrown in! Everywhere had highchairs & pavements/shops as buggy friendly with slopes going into all shops. Only negative was no air conditioning in apartments. Wasn't too bad when we were there as about 24 degrees but in the height of the summer it would be a killer although they do rent out fans for 2.50 euros a night if needed. Would highly recommend if you have young children. Maybe not a great place for couples as there are lots of children around and whole area suited for children.
great for kids
Great Holiday Fantastic pool. No fights for sunbeds Apartments have everything you need and are very clean A great supermarket right across the road Food at the Vista Picas is also very good Very safe for kids All in all this was a great holiday and we would highly recommend it to everyone.
Defineately worth a return
We have just returned from the Vista Picas appartments after a fortnights stay and must say that the place is fantastic. The appartments are spotless and have all the utilities you could possibly need including an iron and ironing board. There are only 84 apprtments surrounding one of the best pools we have ever come across and there are so many sunbeds that you do not have to get up early and put out your towells, unless you have a particular preference about where you want to sit. The staff are so friendly and cant help enough, nothing is too much trouble. There are so many restaurants close by and the food was always excellent we never had a bad meal the entire fortnight. The excursions are a bit pricy and the island is generally more expensive than mainland Spain and the Canaries but the island itself is so more attractive and quieter. A trip on the glassbottom boat is a good idea you get to go to a secluded beach and you can swim and slide off the boat. The Vista Picas is very relaxed and there are no daytime activities which is perfect for pure relaxation. There was not a kids club when we went but there was entertainmenmt laid on every other night including a very good Beatles tribute band. The only downside to the holiday was the lack of air conditioning, you had no choice but to hire a couple of fans to cool the appartments down. Overall we had a really geat time and would not hestate to go back , something that a lot of the guests do every year.
Worth a repeat visit!!!
We first went to Menorca in 2003 after booking one of those unnamed destinations holidays. There were 3 possible accomodations and we were extremely lucky to be allocated Vista Picas Apartments in Cala n Forcat. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendliest reception staff ever. There are 2 reception staff - Linsey , an English lady who is married to a Spaniard and Oscar who is from Menorca. They both couldn't do enough to help. The bar staff are equally as friendly to the point that they join in all the fun and entertainment. They also play in a weekly waiters v guests football match and are tremendous with the kids. Special mention must go to Tito & Chris the leaseholders of the restaurant. Emma was the entertainment organiser that year but she has moved on but still visits with her boyfriend Pepe ( used to be a waiter there). We have now been 3 times and are going back this year. We meet almost the same people there every year and have made some very good friends who we visit outwith hoiday time. The accomodation is spotless and is cleaned every day with towels and bed linen being changed every second day. The kitchen area is basic with cooking rings and a portable grill. Toasters, irons and ironing boards are in every apartment. You have to check out by 10am on morning of departure but there is a brand spanking new guests wet room that you can book for pre departure shower if you've been by the pool all day. You just book a time at reception. It was fully booked 2 years ago with only a half hour slot left for us (family of 4) so they even offered us the use of the staff facilities. The cleaning staff are lovely too though quieter as they don't speak too much English. I took Spanish at night classes and when the waiters found out they wouldn't answer me unless I spoke to them in Spanish - how helpful is that! - or were they just laughing at my mispronounciations. Caroline is the new entertainer who has been there for 2 years now - a lovely Glaswegian who loves tablet! She lives on the island with her mum and sister who we met - it's just one big happy family!! Last year we made the mistake of thinking "the world is too big a place to go to the same place more than once" and we went to Gran Canaria instead - big mistake. I defy anyone to go to Vista Picas and not come back with a smile on their face!
