The Irilena hotel is brilliant. It has a fantastic location, situated on the main road of Lassi (although there is some road noise), and from this its just a few minutes walk to the beaches, bars and tavernas. The decor is good, and the hotel is very clean - the maid who comes in daily does a great job. The bar area, where you can also eat your breakfast, is superb - really modern and comfortable, leading into a nice garden round the back. All the rooms have balconies/terraces, and we found it was great to relax here in the evenings watching the sunset. The owner and her bar staff are really friendly (as is her dog 'Ricky-Bobby'). We had a really good time, and if I were to return to Lassi I would definitely stay here again.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Kefalonia and one of the highlights was our hotel Irilena. The owner Athina, her daughter Irilena and Athina's sister Anna were amazing people. They were like our second family away from home. They were so kind, generous and helpful. The hotel was very clean and modernly decorated. The location was perfect. Its a 5 minute walk from the best sandy beaches and a hugh selection of restaurants and bars. The hotel Irilena also has a bar where most of the guests would gather in the evenings for a drink. We made so many friends at the hotel and we will definitely return very soon. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends as it is so clean, has amazing owners and was so relaxing and in the best location. Its a 5 minute taxi ride into the main town of Argostoli and only 15 minutes from the airport. Ignore the 2 star rating on this hotel as it is definitely worth more than that.

Have just arrived back from a great week in Lassi, staying at the Hotel Irilena. Owned by Athena and her daughter Irilena, this is a lovely hotel - spotlessly clean and very welcoming. It has everything you need except a pool, but the fantastic beach is not very far (although down a hill once down no need to come back up - restaurants and bars by the beach) and there is a pool that can be used just across the road. The road is very busy, so a room at the back is preferable. These look out onto the garden and have a very pleasant view from the balcony - very nice to have a drink on in the evening. The room has a fridge but no kettle and the air conditioning is worth every penny extra.
The breakfast is adequate - self service - bread, cheese, marmalade, eggs, juice, tea, coffee. The same every day - could do with a little variety.
The resort is very clean and has lots of very good restaurants. Not noisy (no clubs) - no gangs of youths.
Perfect for a peaceful holiday. Everything goes by GMT (Greek Maybe Time).

Bit late with my review - Sorry! Went to Irilena Hotel for 2 weeks during August 2007. Had a really fantastic holiday. Irilena Hotel was SUPERB. very friendly, clean and breakfast was great - fresh rolls, meats, cheese, conserves, cereal, tea, coffee, cake, eggs - all very nice. Really rate this Hotel - although on the main road - it didn't bother us at all - had lovely view from Balcony and there was plenty of storage/wardrobe space in the room to put all your things. Been to many Greek islands and would definately return to Kefalonia. Tried to book again at Irilena for this year - but was totally booked up (Rooms for 3 anyway) - otherwise we would have gone back this year. If you're off to Lassi this year - you'll love it - plenty of lovely beaches, Taverna's - and plenty of peace and quiet which is what we like. Definitely recommend the Irilena Hotel - fantastic value for money. We had lovely Kingsize Bed! (and single for my daughter).
We're off to Halkidiki in August this year - hope it will be as good as Kefalonia. Been to many Greek Islands (Skiathos - Agia Paraskevi is our favourite - have been 8 times) - but we haven't had a bad Greek Island yet. Happy Greek Holidays!

We have just returned from a fantastic week holiday at this hotel. The staff are very friendly and the other guests all talk to each other and get to know each other.The hotel is situated on the main Lassi road so you will hear some road noise, but as we didnt get to bed till gone one most nights it was quieter then. The breakfast included hot/cold hard boiled eggs,ham,hard & soft cheeses,jam & marmalade,rolls,cornflakes with hot or cold milk, tea/coffee and bowls of peaches. If you wanted an "english breakfast" across the road is Mystic Gutso that serves it for 5.50eu.
This hotel doesn't have a pool but if you cross the road on the left a little bit is the Marianna Studios which is open to public from 9am to 7pm,it also serves food & has a bar.Its a lovely place.The 2 main beaches are also across the road(there are also some smaller coved beaches) to the left just a few minutes walk. The first beach Makris Gialos is the one i prefer.The sun beds are 8eu for 2 beds & 1 umbrella and its got its beach bar serving hot/cold food & beer.Its self serve.A little further down is Platis Gialos beach,which is also very nice with a bar.
The best way to see the island is to hire a car. We went to Etam car hire.We didn't choose an expensive car as your not in it for very long.We drove all over the island and visited some beautiful places with stunning scenery.
If you want to visit the other island Ithaca,the ferry leaves at Sami port at 8.30am and returns at 3.30pm.
You can get a ferry from Argostolli across to Lixouri which costs 2eu adults and 4.50eu for a car.Its a beautiful island well worth a visit.

Never having been to Kefelonia before I was a little aprehensive, but being guided by my inlaws who have been going for the past 16yrs thought it must be ok, the Irilena hotel was extreamly plesant with the staff and owner being very helpful and friendly, as mentioned above the breakfast was basic but afterall we were on holiday in another country and accepted that this was what they thought was the best for breakfast and enjoyed it anyway. the rooms were clean and although you had to pay for the air con, it was well worth it. The location of the hotel is great, not to far from the beach whic I must say was beautiful the sea was one of the nicest I have been in, however the walk to the beach was down and up a slope, but it was only once a day.Just a short walk from the hotel took you into the centre of Lassi, which was on the flat. The people of Lassi were very friendly and every bar or restrurant made you feel very welcome. The bar I enjoyed going into the most was Pedros's where you could sit outside and enjoy the music and drink well after the music had stopped. Would I go back yes, we tried to go to this hotel this year but the flights didn't suit my husbands hoilday from work and to travel to Manchester was a little to far,therefore we have booked into different accmodation just up the road from Irilena as we felt that Lassi was just right for us. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in July.

Lassi is one of the main resorts on Kefalonia but quite quiet, the bars, restaurants, food, people, beaches are lovely.
The hotel Irilena is a 2 star but you can pay for air con in the rooms, the balconies are small and the breakfasts are bread rolls and cornflakes but you can't complain really.
Few minutes’ walk to the lovely beach. Taxi to Argostoli is 5 euro or you can walk it, lovely bars there too. Hiring a car is popular; we drove to Myrtos beach, Assos and Fiscardo, one road all the way so very simple.
We'll definitely be back in the future.

The hotel Irilena is in a central location near to the main Lassi area, the standard of cleanliness is very high and I was quite surprised that there was a fridge, kettle and hairdryer in the room.
There is air conditioning at a charge of 35 Euros per week which is rather expensive but you can hire a fan from the local supermarket for 1 Euro per day or maybe take a small fan with you. The hotel is very pleasantly decorated and the outside area is attractively landscaped with seating areas and a raised garden area to the rear. Due to the location there is a lot of noise from the road which can be dulled by keeping the balcony doors shut, however there are a few rooms to the rear which overlook the garden and patio.
As previously stated the breakfasts are quite boring but you can purchase milk, tea bags fresh fruit etc from the nearby local supermarket and enjoy your breakfast on your balcony which we did on several occasions, on the other hand you can walk up the road to the vast choice of excellent tavernas and restaurants an treat yourself to a "full English" which is ideal if you don't mind piling on the pounds!
The choice of eating places is endless and the best ones in my opinion were the Monte Nero, Phedra, Nefelis, Sirtaki and a great little Indian restaurant in Argostoli called Kohinoor in a bad location well hidden near to the Bass Club wonderful food both Indian and Greek cuisine, another highly recommended in Argostoli is the Captains Table which is always full we never managed to get there so that's one reason to return to this beautiful island of Kefalonia, would we return? Yes definitely beautiful clean beach, no lager louts or noisy discos but plenty to see and do and very friendly locals.
