If you are into the great outdoors and thinking of exploring Torridon and Wester Ross then I can recommend Kinlochewe as a base. On a recent hill walking trip I stayed at the Taransay B&B and it was superb.
Mrs Cross and her husband were ideal hosts friendly, helpful and the accommodation was first class and sparkling. The breakfast was great and set you up for a day in the hills (and you'll need it). You can get a good evening meal in the local hotel (The Kinlochewe) but get there early as it gets very busy with fellow outdoor types!
One thing, the next time you complain of having next door's cat walk through your garden, think about Mr and Mrs Cross, they get deer in theirs! Two were busy nibbling the roses while I was there - greenfly have nothing on them!
