On arrival at this hotel we were checked in quickly and efficently by the polite reception staff and directed to a 3rd floor room. As we were travelling with an 8 month old baby with pushchair we asked to be moved down from the 3rd floor and were given a room on the 1st floor blue 107. The hotel has different colours for the different parts of the hotel which we didn't really understand but the colour of the room you are in is the colour of the number above your room we later realised. They may ask you this in the restaurant. After 1 night in this room we asked to be moved because we were directly above the bar area and come midnight when we wanted to go to sleep we could still hear people shouting and laughing in the bar - this was really loud in the bedroom as the rooms are laid out so the bedrooms are on the front by the corridors. The hotel is very open plan so the noise travels between the floors and through the corridors so even the quietest of noises seem really loud. The reception staff again were really helpful and moved us to the other side of the hotel (green 214) - this room over looked the Sky Park (a disused bungee jump etc park) which was better but still extremely noisy all the time.
We went to Playa Olid over the Easter Holidays and many Spanish came to the hotel for the long weekend break including a group of Spanish men. All they did was scream and shout at the tops of their voices all the time, in the restaurant, by the pool, in the corridors at 4 o'clock in the morning - there was no getting away from their racket. In addition to this, while we were there there was a stag do and a hen do (both English) and they were worse than anyone, their language around the pool was so bad that families had to leave the pool area and they were drinking all day everyday and passed out on the sunbeds by the pool and were still there in the morning. A disgrace and an embarrassment to the rest of the English people there. In all, the hotel was SOOOOOO noisy there was no chance of getting any sleep other than a few hours here and there. You have no chance of sleeping in in the mornings as people are up and down the corridors shouting and screaming at one another for no reason and then the maids are about doing an excellent job of keeping the hotel spotless. The hotel have a security guard who you can contact through reception who will come and sort out noise but by that time you're already awake and fed up!
The food in the restaurant was fabulous - fresh meat and fish cooked to order every lunch and dinner time, pasta, pizza, chip, hotdogs and burgers amongst other dishes every lunchtime, salad bar at every meal, themed evening (a canarian night, a chinese, an indian night). We went for 14 nights and expected the have to eat out a couple of times but we didn't eat out of the hotel at all.
The pool areas are nice and clean, the top pool and bottom pool have bars and the kids pool is just a stones throw from the top pool bar over a small bridge and has astro-turf around it which was good for the kids. All the pools however were FREEZING and our daughter ended up in hospital with Bronchitis and a sickness bug after getting freezing in the kids pool and accidentally swallowing some water from the pool. The reception staff were very helpful when our daughter was taken ill and called doctors to the room on 2 occasions and every member of staff asked how she was once they realised she was in hospital. All of the staff were very nice and there was no difference in the way they treated the all inclusive or the paying guests as far as I could see. Yes...we had plastic glasses after the 2nd day of our holiday but this was a relief for us because there were kids running around and it makes sense not to risk having broken glass everywhere surely??? It was no problem..they had tall plastic glasses for long drinks which were great.
Lizzie the entertainer was brill - she loves the kids and tries to involve them all in everything. She works alone and does very long hours but is always happy and full of energy. The mini-disco was good and the entertainment was good - a snake show, an animal show, belly-dancing, a quiz, bingo, live music - enough to occupy the kids so the adults can sit and have a drink and relax really. During the mini-disco they did keep trying to get the adults up to dance with their kids which we got a bit annoyed with - the whole point of the mini-disco we thought was to occupy the kids for us for a bit not for us to have to join in but it was fun.
Near to the hotel are some Spanish nightclubs and on certain nights (I think Sundays and on certain bank holidays) the spanish go to these clubs and stay their till the morning and then come out screaming and shouting and whistling at each other. This was particularly bad for us because it was easter but from 4 o'clock in the morning onwards the noise was again, horrendous and we unable to sleep.
The maids are really good, they cleaned our room every day except Thursday and Sunday (although this randomly changed to Wednesday and Sunday half way though our holiday) with fresh towells and bed linen. We did find one cockroach in our room on the 2nd night but didn't see anymore and they are so common in Tenerife that I thnk it'd be unusual not to see at least one on your holiday here.
We visited the Monkey Park on one cloudy day - it was really good - watch out for the cheeky chimps and buy some food to give them - they are very entertaining, but it is £10 per adult and £5 per child over 4 to get in and £12 each way in a taxi so quite expensive. The first 10 days we were there the weather was glorious but then for the next 4 days was very disappointing, cloudy.
Overall - this is an excellent hotel run by excellent staff but it is ruined by the guests and the local noise. We will sadly not be going back to Playa Olid although not sure what the hotel can do about the behaviour of the local people or the noise of their guests other than what they are doing?

We have just returned from the Playa Olid after a weeks stay booked through Monarch Holidays, We arrived at the Hotel around 1 in the morning aftrer an early evening flight from Manchester with the youngest in our party absolutley shattered after i think dropping everyone else off at there hotels and us last (Taxi from the airport next year!!!!!. We had read on some reviews that the staff at the Playa Olid arent very helpful/pleasent to the guests well if that is the case they all must have been off when we stayed because everyone we came across were absolutley fantastic and couldnt do enough for theren guests. We stayed All Inclusive and the food was quality and plenty of variaty. The apartmant was huge and spotlessly clean with great views from the balcony. The only moan we had was the entertainment for the kids could have been better and that is not having a go at Lizzy the kids entertainer who does a fantastic job but when she had a couple of highly deserved days off there was nothing for the kids to do. We will return next year!!!!!!!!

We have recently returned from a fortnight here. We had a fantastic time. We have two children and this Hotel is very family friendly. There is no air-con in the apartments which during the summer months could be a problem but for our time of year it was fine.
We were all inclusive, the food was delicious, menu repeated during week two but plenty of variety. From the cleaning staff to the Reception, the dining room staff, all were very friendly and helpful.
Very good location, walking distance to the Americas but far enough out not to be "in the thick of it". It was very clean, apartments cleaned every day except Sundays and Thursdays.
Would definitely recommend to our friends.

we have just returned from playa olid, the room are large and very clean, they had just started doing the entertainment, during the day and nite,it was ok,but im sure with time it will improve, the food was nice, cooked infront of you.some parts of the appartments had just had a refurb.the eating area was bright, beautiful and spotless, all brand new,we went with teenage boys, they enjoyed it very much, there was a delivery of sunbeds when we was there, you have use of the sunbed mattresses, which are now free to use,we was told that the mattresses used to be 1 euro to use, ther is a slight slope down towards the centre,i wouldnt call it a hill, not far to walk for bars and shops, the pools are decent sized, but cold.the sun terrace is new and looks lovely,it has a hot tub on it,the staff are nice, and very helpful.we all enjoyed the holiday and will deffinatly go back.the weather was fantastic.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in October and although the rooms are basic they are spotless maids in every day and clean towels and bedding everyday. Although there is refurbishment works going on there is no dust and the workmen keep the noise to a minimum didnt disturb us for the 14 days at all. The road works at the front of hotel again didnt impact on us either. Very enjoyable and staff are friendly and very helpful we used a lot of public transport and they helped us with time tables and bus routes they all know the island very well.
If you want Sun and all ammenities but want peace at night then Playa Olid is for you everything available with in 10 mins walk And try the cafe at the bottom of road food is fantastic

Had a good time at the Apartments the rooms were clean and quite large. They are basic but everything worked and when we requested extra pillars they were delivered within an hour.We looked out onto the smaller pool at the back and it was nice and peacfull where the main pool was quite busy and noisy at times. The sky park had not opened for the season so again it was nice and peacfull, it may be a different matter when it opens. The staff were all very good and we got a security box as soon as we got there so there were no incidents of theft. As recomended by a previous Reviewer the Supermarket up the hill is a lot cheaper and a lot more choice. Wigan pier good for food and entertainment and the sun inn near the Califoria served some of the best food we had there. The beach is not too far to walk to an is realy well kept with everthing clean and well run although it was quite expensive with a sun bed or a sun shade costing 5 euros each so it soon adds up if you go every day. But we had a great time and would go to the apartments again.

Stayed here from 20/12/09 to 27/12/09 (self catering, first time in yrs ) rooms were small but nice, maids in every day, no bugs, yes it's near to the main road but you know that before you choose the apartments, reception and staff good. No, the hill is not to steep either going up or down, the walk is lovely down to the beach & only five mins. lucky, lucky men everywhere, part and parcel of Tenerife, just be polite, under cut them all the time and they get to know that you will never buy off them, becomes a game, the kids ( 16yr & 13yr ) thought they were very funny. local shops very pricey but that's the same all over the island. THE PUB, thats the name of the pub next door the the apartments is small but well worth a look in, the geordie pride sell Brown Ale and the food is cracking & plenty of it.
Would i go back to Playa Olid Apartment... yes... Costa Adeje... yes, booking up for xmas, but this time all inclusive.. hope this short review helps.

stayed at these apartments in october 2009 with my partner. Was a little worried after having read some reviews but what a load of garbage. Honestly this place is fantastic for a week of unwinding, i cant wait to go back!!!!!! NEVER once saw any insects, the room was spotless, maid was in everyday cleaning and changing sheets/towels for us. Highly recommend these apartments there great, and with the choice of two pools your gauranteed peace and quiet at one of them. Anybody visiting this area must go to siam park, this place is amazing. Its a waterpark with a difference, its own beach is like something from the carribean and the artificial wave machine is good fun for adults and kids.

Me and my partner went to Playa Olid end of August this year. After reading reviews about the hotel it was fair to say i didn't even want to go! According to the reviews i had read bags and money was being stolen, there were cockroaches and ants in the room and the staff were awful. As you can imagine i was thinking the worst.
When we arrived at Playa Olid i was pleasantly surprised. The lady on reception was very friendly and had a laugh and joke on with me and my partner. The hotel looked very clean and i was left feeling a little relived.
Despite other reviews i've read there are lifts because we used them so not sure they're talking about the same hotel! The room we had was huge and immaculate. I was searched it throroughly for cockroaches and there was not one in our room during our entire stay.
Nothing was stolen from our room and the maids were very nice. We hired a safety deposit box which could fit everything in.
The pool area was clean albeit it very busy-but we did go peak time during school holidays. However, there are two pools, the one with the bar is busiest but there is another one at the back of the hotel which not a lot of people realise is there so it's quieter.
The surrounding area is nice. It is on a slight incline but unless you have very high shoes on (like i did!) then it shouldn't be a problem. Wigan Pier just down the road is brilliant, the staff are the friendliest i've ever come across and the food and drinks are lovely.
If you fancy a bit of luxury then i would reccommmend having a walk down the habour about ten minutes away. There are lots of nice bars and restaurants there and they are all looking out onto the sea-it's beautiful.
There is also a cocktail bar on the beach which is candle lit, you can lie back on a lounger and enjoy midnight cocktails with the moon shining, absolute bliss!
If you fancy something a bit more lively i'd reccommend going to Las Americas to a bar called Liquid. Really classy, clean and brilliant music-open til 6 am for all those part animals!
All in all had a brilliant holiday and would definitely go back again. Think these people who have written bad reviews muct have been staying somewhere else!

This is the second time i've stayed in Playa Olid and i'd definitely go back. It's a nice big apartment complex with beautiful gardens which are well looked after. There 2 large pools and a little pool for babies. One of the large pools has a pool bar which supplies food and drinks for most of the day. This is the most popular of the 2 pools, it can get quite busy, but the other one at the rear of the apartments is a lot quieter. There's maid service every day except Thursday & Sunday, you'll get your towels changed daily and your bed linen changed weekly. There's a mop and bucket in one of the cupboards, quite handy for mopping the balcony as the pigeons come around quite a bit! The apartments have a 2 ring hob, a fridge, kettle, toaster, just basic things but you might not want to eat much in the apartment anyway once you've seen some of the menus in the local bars. The balcony is a good size, plenty of room to sunbathe and it gets the sun from sunrise to sunset. Lovely views too. I would recommend you paying for the safe in the apartment, £17 per week plus £15 deposit (you get the deposit back when you check out). It just makes things a bit safer. I was stole from on my last night there last year and it could only have been the maid, nobody else had access to our room. This year we paid for the safe and everything was perfect. There is only one thing that really annoyed me about my stay this time, but it's nothing to do with the apartments. Outside is a large car park and across from that is a nightclub or something, and about 3 nights a week it opens for the local young people (about midnight to 6am) and they make an absolute racket!!! They park their cars in the car park then stand there laughing and shouting before going into the club and then when they come out at 6am they do the same, only worse! It's ok if you're sleeping in the bedroom, you don't hear it, but if you're sleeping in the lounge area and you're at the front end of the apartment complex then it can be a bit of a nightmare. Apart from that i have no complaints about the complex at all.
The apartments are situated near enough to the beach, just a short 5 minute walk down a small hill with little shops and bars on the way. There's enough local entertainment around the area without you having to travel all the way into Las Americas if you don't want to. Some very friendly bars, particularly The Original Wigan Pier (a great English bar which shows Sky Sports, serves a good pint and some fantastic food, and has great entertainment every night of the week), and News Cafe which does a great karaoke every night. If you have a 5-10 minute walk down the road you'll walk along the front where there are loads of great bars and restaurants serving some really nice food at good prices too. Plenty of set menus for 7.95 Euros, a bargain!
One other tip, that the reps don't seem to tell you about, is the supermarkets. They'll tell you about the one attached to the apartment complex (which is quite expensive) and one down the road which isn't too badly priced, but they don't mention the Mercadona which is just UP the hill. Come out of the apartments, turn right and cross over the road. You'll see a Grand Sur complex just a little further up, which is a nice shopping centre with a multi-screen cinema, restaurant, food bars, shops etc, and a Mercadona supermarket underneath which is really really cheap. Some of the food is half the price of what it is at the supermarket DOWN the hill, so it's worth having a trip up there if you're self-catering and wanting to eat a bit in the apartment. Also the booze there is quite cheap too, so get stocked up!
Overall i'd recommend this complex and area to anyone. Like i said, i've been twice now and i'd definitely go back again and again. It's a lovely area with plenty of things very nearby to keep you entertained. And there are excursions you can book just about anywhere which will take you to Loro Park, up Mount Tiede, on a catamaran to see the whales and dolphins out at sea, etc etc. Enjoy your stay.... i really did! :)

i went to costa adeje. Playa Olid hotel 9th-16th oct. with my friend im 21 and she is 26) before i went like everyone does i red the reviews and i was worried what the hotel and food would be like. but it was nothing like what other people said.
all of the staff were nice and very helpful (i had an incident on holiday and they helped alot) there was a wide variety of food the only thing i would say is that it is the greatest for vegitarians. i didnt come across any under cooked food. the apartment was a good size and cleaned everyday except thurs and sundays which was fine. the pool was clean it is a wee bit small and there is limited beds by the pool. the only rubbish thing is that there is no aircon and u have to rent a fan. the entertainment at the hotel wasnt great but okay.
one thing that ****** us of was that the day before u depart your meant to arrnage transport from the hotel to the airport... we kept ringing & ringing. finially got through and they said they did not have us on their list, so we were going to book a taxi. so then we spoke to a rep and he was pretty rude and rubbish. but in the end we managed to get transport, so you have to persist
