I would reccomend these appartments for last minute bargains. I wouldn't have been happy if i had paid alot to stay here however, I booked it for a quick get away and so it was good for the price. The 'studio' room we had was nice - adequate. The pools were very cold and small. The hotel is very difficult to find your way around as it is so large and all on different levels. The pool snack bars weren't open and were quite tacky like sheds. It is situated at the top of a hill so I wouldn't reccomned this to people with walking problems.
It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and the shops - which sell all the same usual stuff. There were two families that had there rooms broken into while we were staying so a safe is a good idea. These people were in rooms facing the back of the hotel and on the main road so if you do or have booked to go do request a ground floor and a pool view. As this is what myself and my boyfriend stayed in and had no problems and made our holiday enjoyable.
To go into Las Amercicas and Christianos town for shopping was very good, from this hotel cost about 8 - 10 euros which is quite expensive if you want to go to Verronicas (famous bars for nightlife). However, when Verroniocas doesn't get busy until early morning you are reccomended to go there at 1.30am!! This isn't bad if your on a holiday with your mates.
We did take a day out to Loro Park whichy I highly reccomend espcially to people with children. Its best to book this with your rep at the welcome meeting. This trip costs 50euros each and is an hour and a half trip on a coach. When you are there there is dolphin, whale, sea lion and parrot shows.Which take up the whole day! Also gorillas and tigers. I do say that you should take a picnic as the food once your in there isn't very nice and a rip off. Also there is only one restaurant serving hot food so there are big ques.
Overall, I don' think i will be going again to this hotel or tenerife as I feel I have done it all and nothing tempts me to go back.

On arrival i slipped on a banana skin and no this is no joke! Luckily i am a doctor and was able to assess the matter effectively as i always carry my emergency first aid box! Do Playa Olid even know what a first aid box is!? I DO NOT THINK SO!!
Day 2 - No toilet roll in room, unforently at the wrong time! Embarrasing moment!
Day 3 - Had food from the snack bar was average! Unfortunately there was no lobster thermodore, which i particularly enjoy!
Day 4 - i slept with a lizard!
Enough said!
Holiday Ended! So overall i enjoyed playa olid was grand!

We stayed at the Playa Olid for two weeks this year as we enjoyed it that much the previous year. The rooms were basic but sufficient for our needs and cleaned regularly. we would recommend that you use the safety deposit box although we have never had any trouble it just gives you peace of mind. during our stay we had a problem with the toilet but that was dealt with promptly. The hotel staff were friendly and always polite. The Chinese restaurant at the bottom of the hill was excellent value and the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. the first and last pub on the fanabe beach front was lively and had a great compere the bar staff were friendly, they also had a lot of good acts booked every night.
We would recommend that the hotel and the resort area are great for a nice relaxing holiday, so much so we are going back for the third time very soon.

Returned home yesterday from Tenerife having spent a fab 2 weeks there. Playa Olid Apartments are very nice, it's a large complex with plenty of staff who are on the whole very polite and helpful. It can be quite confusing as there are apartments with the same number, but they're colour coded so you must make sure you're going to the right colour section!
The apartments are very spacious and clean, although the cleaning could be improved on a bit during the week. Cleaners come in very regularly but they change the towels more than they actually clean/mop floors etc. There's plenty of cupboard space for clothing etc. The kitchen area is adequate, with a 2-ring hob, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The balcony is a great size, gives you a fantastic view and gets the sun from 9am through to 6pm at this time of year so you don't have to leave your room to get a tan!
There are good facilities at the apartments. There are 2 pools which are always kept very clean and tidy, and the staff are excellent, especially the pool lifeguard who was very friendly, always smiling and keeping a good eye on the kids in the pool. There's a hut in the pool area for refreshments as well, with food and drink fairly priced and a good selection available.
Inside the complex the lounge area is a decent size with plenty of seating. There are 2 computers with internet access. There's a bar, which wasn't open all the time but I assume that's maybe to do with the time of year we went. Connected to the complex is a restaurant (which runs the bar inside the complex), which provides a wide selection of meals all at very good prices, and the staff there are really nice and friendly. Next to the restaurant is a shop which offers a decent amount of food/drink etc but the prices are quite steep. If you take a 2 minute walk down the hill you'll find Supermarket Felipe which is huge, offers a really wide range of things, and is a heck of a lot cheaper!
Playa Olid Apartments are really well situated. Just out of the complex is a cafe which does an excellent english breakfast for 2.95 euros, a bargain!! A couple of minutes further down the road, at the roundabout, is a great chinese restaurant that offers an all-you-can-eat buffet for 5.98 euros and the staff there are lovely. There's loads of gift shops and restaurants/bars along the street, which then leads down to the beach and the centre of Las Americas. There's a nice buzz on the street, especially at night, but the people trying to get you into their bars/restaurants can be a bit of a pain at times. The beach is gorgeous, only a 10 minute walk from Playa Olid. 4 Euros for each sunbed and wooden table/umbrella, and there's free waiter service all day.
In each apartment at Playa Olid is a safety deposit box (you get the key from reception) and I would recommend you use this facility. My friend and I had locked our money/passports/things of value in my suitcase with the padlock on and I took the keys everywhere with me, so we never used the safe. This was absolutely fine until our last full day. We started packing a few things away, we put our english money (for drinks on the plane home) in our bags along with everything else, then went down to the pool for the day. That night, when we started properly packing, my friend realised she'd had some english money missing from her purse, and when I looked in my bag under the bed, there was £30 missing from my purse also. The only people with access to our room that day were the cleaners. As there are signs up all over the place which say the hotel will not be held responsible for things going missing if safety deposit boxes aren't used, we didn't report it to reception because I doubt we would have got anywhere, but we did report it to the Thomas Cook rep, who said she would speak to reception, and we were told we could ask Thomas Cook for a complaints form and we could make a claim. If you want to be on the safe side, I would recommend you using the safety deposit box in the room.
We were told by several people that it would be chilly and not overly hot at this time of year, but how wrong they were. The sun was out every day, slightly cloudy on a couple of days but still very warm, but the majority of the days were absolutely roasting! We've come back with a fantastic tan. We've had a brilliant holiday with great memories, I can't really fault the apartments at all, except for the last day theft! I would recommend Playa Olid to anyone and I will definitely be going back there for another holiday.

We were late with this booking but cannot find much to fault with the Playa Olid apartments. Half of the site is being done up at the moment so only one pool. There are ample sunbeds for all, no need to rush down in the morning with towels. Pool very clean, staff very good, pool food just as you would expect (fast and good).
The apartment although basic was very clean as is cleaned each day, with beds made and fresh towels (not Thursday or Sunday). Towels are quite worn but this is due to be rectified with new contract. We enjoyed our weeks stay in Playa Olid and shall in fact return next year.
Its location is just perfect for shops, bars, market etc with bus stop outside for e.g. Los Cristianos only 2.50 euros for two, very good value. We could not find fault with the site or staff and would score at least 8 out of 10.
By the way the Torviscas/Fanabe is a very quiet and upcoming place to stay.

These apartments are a little tired but they are clean. The hotel staff, especially the evening restaurant staff, are absolutely lovely. They made us feel very welcome and always chatted to us.
After reading of burglaries we decided to use a safe, which is probably the best idea on any holiday. We felt very safe there and had an absolutely wonderful time. We were half board. The breakfasts weren't as good as the evening meals but there was a small choice of food and there was only one night that we were disappointed.
A very low budget holiday and well worth it. I would recommend Playa Olid and would definitely go again.

I and my boyfriend stayed here for a week in November, it was a last minute holiday that I booked for my 21st to get away. It’s a nice location, although it’s right next to a motorway so if you get a room at the side of the slip road you won’t get any sleep, as we did on the 1st night, but they changed us to an apartment further way as soon as we asked.
There are 2 pools, the 1 in the middle of the complex is too busy and there is too many kids splashing, but the 1 behind the complex is nice and chilled, we spent most of our time there.
Las Americas is about 45 mins walk away, but it’s nice to walk at night along the beach. There isn’t much to do in Costa Adeje, a few bars and restaurants and the markets close by.
We had a fantastic time for the price we paid and would go back again as we love Tenerife!

Just got back from Tenerife and what an amazing holiday it was! Was quite apprehensive about leaving as was my first holiday with friends and had heard a lot of negative reviews about the hotel!
But can say we were pleasantly surprised the staff weren’t overly friendly but they were polite! Had a bit of trouble finding the rooms as their colour coded but once found was very impressed!
Very spacious with kitchenette sofa and dining table and lots of space balcony ideal size as well!
The whole complex is clean and in an ideal location 10 mins walk from the beach and 5 mins to the main strip in a taxi which costs around 8 Euros!
All in all brilliant holiday and would definitely recommend the resort! It’s amazing!!

We've just returned from our 3rd visit to Tenerife. In the past we have visited in November and April but wanted to experience the island in the height of summer.
We had never stayed in Playa Olid Apartments before and at the last minute I read the reviews which did worry me a bit.
I have to say though, this is possibly the best low budget Apartment we've stayed in on the island. I agree that they do look a bit tired but I've seen worse. The staff in the bars and reception were very friendly and helpful. The cleaners were OK but they do not understand English so communication is difficult. The bed linen was a bit worn but we had fresh towels each day they cleaned (5 out of 7 days).
We read the reviews of the thefts so we did invest in a safe but the security there appeared very good. We arrived at 2.30am and were excited and wanted to look around the site and check out the pools. Whilst looking around we were followed by a security guard who possibly thought we were suspicious! We were on a ground floor apartment and on the second night it was very hot so we decided to leave the big window open. About 3am a security man was knocking on the window telling me to keep it shut - it appears as though they have upped their security level.
We did have a couple of problems with our toilet not flushing but a quick visit to reception and it was sorted virtually straight away.
Although it is a large complex there was always room around the pool. The pool was clean and there was a very good pool bar staffed all day.
I would thoroughly recommend these apartments for a low budget holiday.

We booked a late holiday to Playa olid apartments, we were allocated a large apartment, overlooking one of the pool areas. The apartment was clean, well equipped, well funished, spacious, with a lovely balcony area. The maids came in most days except wednesdays and saturdays, and were quick and efficient, and very pleasant. The complex is amazing, with many appartments, like a maze, there are two good sized pools with chairs, and sunbeds available, and a smaller childrens pool, with sunbeds. We went in April, and there wasnt a problem getting a sunbed, not sure what it would be like in peak season when complex is full. We found that the position of Playa Olid, great for us, near the supermarket, shops and a short walk to the beach, which we enjoyed. The weather in April suited us, with a slight breeze, and a little cloud, and even a quick shower, a little cooler in the evening. No horrid little biting mossies this time of year.
The resort itself, is very friendly, and the food, well you must try the chinese eat all you can (great value), and The Pantry was excellent.
negatives..........slamming of doors in the complex but this is due to inconsiderate guests. Otherwise a great value holiday........
