Went to these apartments in the Red Block on 18th July. Going by the previous comments about Red block, I cant say that the place was all bad...quite the opposite. There were signs saying noise levels must be kept to a minimum, which they were. Common areas like outside stairs and walkways were dirty/dusty, however never saw any roaches. On our 4th day we did tho, in our bath.........but nail polish remover eradicated this prob!!
Pool was spotless, although I didnt realise there was a second pool! The large main pool was busy, and all sunbeds taken, but it was so hot that we prefered the large balcony for sunbathing...as it had a fridge (albeit rusty but working) and a wee breeze haha.
The road down to beach was steep, and went round a large bend and back up the hill...which we soon found to have the entertainment....O'Reillys was fab..had a live band called *Kick* on till 5 am! Its on the road parallel to the motorway/ bypass/ deathtrap, if u leave hotel and go UP the hill(right), follow rd right round and u will find the entertainment quicker than going downhill...as we found out! Its on a loop lol. Also recommend *The Irish Rose* down on the harbour area, Playa Pinto, excellent entertainment with cash games, quizzes, lovely compere Graham, karaoke, then at 11.30 ish pm came the adult acts..from Comedy Elvis to Billy Connelly and Lou Rex (watch him, he's a hound-dog!!) all very naughty but very very funny!!! All in all, this was my 1st girlie hol at the grande ol' age of 34 and had an absolute ball!!! Thoroughly recommend Playa Olid (get a safe deposit box tho, no excuse for not spending only 15 euros for safety) and I cant say I have any negative opinions other than its on a beast of a hill (but where in las americas isnt???)

After reading the reviews of the playa olid apartments i was quite worried as i had just booked my first holiday to go away with just my friends, but i dont know wat every1 is talking about because i luved playa olid! Me and my 2 friends had a gr8 holiday there n wuldnt hav wanted 2 spend our first holiday away together anywhere else, it was in a gr8 location and u just had to walk outside the hotel and you would get a taxi straight away. Our apartment was gr8! i was so suprised 2 how big it was! We had no problems atall with it, it was clean and had loads of room and no cockroaches atal! and the back pool was jst across from us which was gr8 because it was quite a walk 2 the top pool! We got a safety deposit box so we had no problems with items getting stolen or anythin. The maids were gr8 aswell. Im sure we wil b visiting the playa olid again soon! We had a gr8 time at the playa olid and would recommend any1 to go there!

Party of 11 (5 adults, 2 16yr olds and 4 children under 10)
Arrived 4/7/2008. Apartment was large and clean. W received clean towels nearly every day and the apartment was cleaned every other day. We saw 1 cockroche on our balcony and that was that, although my mum saw 2 on hers.
Pool bar staff was friendly and the food was cheap, kids had their breakfast at the pool most mornings. I was overall pleased with the apartment and could not find any fault. I would have liked a bit of entertainment in the apartments for the kids. I suggest you try the chinese buffett all you can eat for 6 euros, we all ate (including dessert) and two rounds of drink and the total was 72 euros and the food was excellent. Karoke bar is good for a few nights but can become a bit boring as the same singers seem to come every night and sing soppy songs.
We hired a boat for 190 euros for 11 of us which was great for 2.5 hours out at sea to see the dolphins and whales. It was fantastic getting up close.
There is a large supermarket at the top of the hill, over the bridge, and turn left, you should be able to see it from the top of the hill. It was a lot cheaper than the small supermarkets, You can store up on drinks etc which cost 40 cents compared to 1 euro for one can.
There is lots to do at the beach which is approx 10 mins walk away.
The market was on tues and thurs and it is worth your while going. Half the price of the stuff in the shops.
Good holiday had by all.

decent place, quiet, £1 on the bus to las americas(bar and club areas)...although a few nights we arrived home we noticed the balcony door had been opened - we left no money in the apartments so there was nothing taken. just a warning though!

Just got back from playa olid and had a fantastic two weeks there. If you were to go on some of the travel reports that we read before we left you would think you were going to hell on earth, I can tell you from first hand experiance that it is not as bad as some people are saying the living area is spacious, the bedroom is a bit small but no smaller than you would have at home, the the bathroom is average for a three star apt hotel. the cleaning/linnen service was 5 times a week the cleaners had thursdays and sundays off do you work 7 days a week? no. Any dealings i had with staff was done with a smile we did not experiance any unfriendly staff at all. As for roberies they did not happen while we were there for the two weeks we stayed all i can say to that is GET A SAFE to lock all your valuables in. There is no cockroach infestation in the rooms either, we only ever saw them while out walking at night while going for a meal/drink. The pool opening and closeing times could be a bit longer thats the only complaint we have and there is no entertainment in the complex for children or adults alike. All in all its like a can of paint "YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN" its a three star apartment hotel so dont expect the ritz. We had a fantastic two weeks there and we are going back at christmas.

Me and my girlfriend both 18 booked our 1st hol together at the playa olid apartments. Initially..we were quite concerned about the place having read reviews on this site. However...as soon as we got there...with room key and deposit key in hand, our room was ready. The rooms were amazingly spacious, as was the balcony. The only downside to our room was the sofa...it had several pieces of wood missing from the framework...meaning that when we sat...we sunk into the damn thing. No major cockroach concerns. I personally only saw one dead one on the stairs down to the secont pool.
Our room over looked the sky park...not the best of views but a giant pencil amused us on our 1st day.
The apartment complex is roughly about a 15-20 min walk to the beach....15 mins on the way down...20 mins on the way back up. For a decent drink in Odeje, you will be walking for about 25mins to a cocktail bar, which is the most perfect place to drink whilst watching the sunset.
A taxi ride to las americas will set you back 10 euro and to the aqua park 5 euro...good prices.
The pool towards the back of the complex has a great temp and a clean feel to it. The pool near the reception looks equally as tasty.
To conclude...stay here...its ok...just get a safety deposit box and let the good times roll.

Okay so I've read a few bad reviews and really can't imagine that these reviews were from the same location that I stayed in.
I'm 18 years old and decided to go for a weeks break with my mum (40 odd ha!) before my exams and it was the best idea. We weren't really bothered about having a big night life, we just wanted to relax in the sun and spend time together. I can see how young people in groups may find it a bit annoying being so far away from the major night scene in Playa las Americas but it was our choice to stay out the way. Plus we went in April so it wasn't particularly busy.
First impressions - we were a bit concerned that our room was right next door to the pool and we thought that people would be messing around by the pool during the night but we were reassured by the reception that the pool area clothes at around 6.30 so nobody would be walking past our bathroom window which was near the pool area! We had no problem at all so we didn't move rooms!
Only other issue we had was one night two guys were talking across balconys at 4am after a night out, but obviously this is no fault of the apartments and we just told them to be quiet. Then continued to talk for another half an hour, and we couldn't find a number for the reception so they could be told to keep the noise down. They eventually retired to bed so we just decided to prank call to wake them up before leaving early morning the next day. :)
The apartments are basic and clean - which is all we expected from a 2 Star. Only saw one cockroach on the public pavement at night so no worries there. We only really ate cereal and toast in our room because there's a small resturant next door which did amazing cooked breakfasts for a measly 3 euros (plus orange juice). We ventured twice to the chinese buffet down the hill which we found reasonably priced and had some good old english grub at Wigan Pier.
Yes when you venture out P.R are trying to get you into their restaurants and "lucky lucky men" try to sell you watches but all you have to say is 'No thankyou' or 'I've already eaten" and they shouldn't bother you.
Watch out in restaurants and check your bill. We went to one restuarant on the sea front, and we pleased that they offered us bread rolls with our meal which we thought was a token gesture. To our amazement we were charged for them so make sure you read the 'small print' on menus where it says "Please state that you if you want the bread rolls as you will be charged" - even though they forced it on us with a nice friendly smiles. The drinks are very expensive too - sometimes you think you're getting a good deal on the food but they catch you out on the drinks by giving you "a boot of coca cola" which is about 4 euros!! Try asking for a small drink or a bottle of water with your meal.
Another minor problem was that although there was a bar inside the reception, it was never open. I can only assume this is because we didn't visit during peak season as most places shut down quite early too. There was a pool side bar open during the day however which served hotdogs, burgers, chips and toasties (etc) during the day.
TIP: Just nip back to your room for a drink, it will cost too much money to keep purchasing soft drinks and water from the bar. We just used to buy one drink and then take the cup to our room to fill up and bring back to the poolside. Apparently, you're not allowed your own drinks around the pool but plenty of people were doing it and the bar staff and life guard didn't pull anyone up.
It was easy to get a sunbed, and quiet round the pool but again this could just be due to the time we visited.
All in all, a fantastic break. Although basic, it was clean and all we really needed. Suitable for older couples, families and people who don't want to be in the middle of the nightlife. Nothing on for the kids but this isn't usually involved with self catered apartments. The weather was great, I think it was cold one day but be careful with the sun especially when it's cloudy - a few people had severe sunburn because they were careless.
Would definitely go back again with my mum :) however I'm heading to Playa las Americas with my friends in July!

After reading the previous reviews about these apartments i was rather worried about what we would find. Myself and 2 friends (aged 19) went to playa olid on 20th June for a week and we had a brilliant time. We couldn't pick one major fault with these apartments and can't believe what previous people have written! We booked through travel republic and paid £250 each for a week including transfers and i must say it was such a bargain for what we got! We stayed in the blocks of 1 bed apartments which overlooked the old sky park and 2nd pool and this was a perfect location as the front of the apartment was a 2 second walk to the main pool. The rooms are spacious and we were suprised at how large the whole apartment was, everything was clean and the maids gave us fresh towels every other day. The only days the maids do not pay a visit are thursday and sunday and they seemed pleasant enough. We paid for a safety deposit box which cost 30 euro but you did receive half of the deposit back on your departure.
There is a chinese buffet down the road near a little shopping centre and it has to be the best chinese buffet i have ever been to. It costs 5.98 euro and is well worth it, we went there twice we loved it so much. Most nights we walked into Playa de las americas and into Veronicas which was a good walk but we stopped half way and had a meal. Veronicas is great for a good night out, every bar offers 2 for 1 so for 6 euro you can have any drink then get the next one free plus free shots. The shots are watered down but what more can you ask for if they are free? Our fave place was Yordy's bar, the music was fab, the drinks were yummy and the people were fanstastic! We always got a taxi back to the apartments which costs around 7 euro, you should ask before you get in how much it will cost as the first night we got a taxi and he charged us 11 euro.
We only went on one trip which we organised ourselves after reading reviews before we went. We got a taxi to the monkey park which cost us 15 Euro or so one way and it's 10 Euro to get in for an adult. It has to be on of the best zoos i have ever been to as you can actually hold the animals as they have walk in enclosures. There is a lovely lady on the reception who will call you a taxi for the way back, it is perfect for a morning trip or afternoon but there isn't enough to see for a whole day. We went in the morning as it opens at 9am and wanted to be out before mid day as it became very hot. As we left around 12:30 the animals were all too hot and having a nap so it's best to go around 10:30.
We saw 1 cockroach the whole week and that was down a dark pathway to the beach, there was no sign of the beasties in the apartments.
We paid to keep our room on as check out is 12 mid day and it only cost us 27 euros which between 3 of us was nothing. We got to keep the room untill we got picked up for the airport.
We absolutely loved Playa Olid and would def go back in the future so please ignore all of the bad reviews, some people are never happy!

arrived home yesterday from the apartments, visited for a week and have got to say it was the holiday of a lifetime!
iv read other comments about the appartments and i dont find some of the comments true as i saw three cockroaches in the whole week and they were no where near the apartments. the rooms were very spacious and the bedroom was very big. Pools were gorgeous and nice and warm, were a nice size and there was two that were never that busy and one small paddle pool for younge children.
thomas cook rep laura was really helpful and planned some good trips for us, and the reception is 24/7 which was also really handy.
appartments are near to everything, not much of a walk to get anywhere, a lovely walk down to the beach which takes about 10 minutes, which is covered with shops and resturants the whole way down, prices are very competitive for your duty frees, so look around first before you buy as it is worth it.
Personally im glad i didnt eat there as the resturant wasnt all that, and there are so many places to chose from. Also you must get a safe, we were on the top floor in the green block and our room was raided by the maids, which we had to complain about they have gone through all the draws and cuboards asif they were looking for something. Luckily we had a safe and a padlock on our suitcase so nothing went missing, the receptionist was really helpful about it aswell.
Plenty to to plenty of parks and i would recomend jet skiing to anyone, its all really safe with a pretty much impossible chance of crashing or hurting youself so its all safe.
overally my and my boyfriend (17 and 18 years old) absoloutly loved it!!
oh yeah and for teenagers go to the reps meeting where they invite you to P.A.N.T.S, you get to go to 6 different clubs and get a free shot in each placee!! definatly worth it.xx

Very noisy in the red block due to close proximity to TF1, when it did get quieter the noise was replaced by idiots banging doors and screaming until the sun came up. I think I could have had a better nights sleep camping on the hard shoulder of the M1.
Very dirty and scruffy with dirt balls rolling down the stairs when windy. Not 3 star rating - actually worst than any 2 star place I have stayed before.
Room was only cleaned properly twice in two weeks after we had made several complaints. Reception staff were friendly and helpful though. Rep was very good and seemed happier towards the end of the holiday as he was transferred to another hotel.
Various reports of cash and valuables going missing so if you do have the misfortune of getting a late availability here make sure you hire the safe and don't get fobbed off with the safe is broken in your room. Spoke to several people with cash, passports, phones, jewelery etc gone missing after the room was "cleaned".
The rooms were big but this gave the cockroaches more room to breed and spreadout.
Kids pool was basically a puddle and the family pools sunbeds were occupied by other peoples towels all day.
The only good point was its location to the TF-1 and the ease in which you could get back to airport and go home for a good nights sleep.
Costa Adeje is billed as the posh part of Las Americas but there is far better accomodation than this there with less noise. Holiday was a total waste of money.

LOVELY! No Problems what so ever! Stayed in green block.Apartment very clean and tidy!Would definately book again at Playa Olid. Had a very cheap last minute deal and wasn't expecting anything nice really, but we were blown away by the cleanliness and everything about it.
Room was cleaned every other day with new towels, bins emptied, floors swept and bed made.Didnt need to use deposit box, locked valuables in suitcase.nothing of ours went missing, but unlike other people leaving their purses on show when people are going to be in and out of the room is a bit daft!!! Everybody was very helpful and wish we stayed their for 2 weeks instead of a week. We would definately return again to playa olid and i have already recommended. There was no faults and a fantastic holiday.
Would go back tomorrow!
