i really hate to write a bad review , but this is the truth,,,arrived 19 july for 15 nights, booked this hotel direct upon reading reviews, met at dalaman by ronaldo the hotel night receptionist, great and funny guy!! nice air con mini bus, upon arriving we were greeted by oykon the owner, nice guy, but when shown to the room, it was only really big enough for three, when we booked, he said room is large enough for 2 adults, and two kids, so, we had a double bed, fold down sofa, and a BABYS COT!! FOR A LARGE 5 YR OLD, the wife was extremley unhappy, if they could not supply a room big enough they should have said at the time of booking< so, being tired, we decided to stay there until morning, the air con barely worked at all, to be fair, the next day they tried to fix but to no avail, next morning we used the cloudy pool, by the following morning, our 7 yr old boy had a bad ear infection, the following day, we all did 4 seperate hospital visits, upon speaking to other guests, we found another 4 people with ear infections, swimming trunks and costumes went green, as did one girls highlighted hair, another two nights in sauna like hotel room, was enough, so we moved the next morning to the delta hotel, very nice, we did notice they were draining the pool when we were leaving, upon checking out, the tried to charge for 1 week, got quiet aggressive , but we stuck to our guns, and paid for the nights we had stayed,,, i really hate to write this review , as many people have enjoyed this hotel ,

ı am upset with this comment as it does not reflect the truth about our hotel.
when this people came to complain ı listened carefully to theır comments. and concluded that the best think to do.was give then a large apartment at no extra cost.but they preferred to have a large corner room where they could have the chıldren wıth them. they were very happy wıth thıs arrangement and offered to pay theır hotel bıll there and then. ı told them money was no problem and ı dıd not take ıt.
regardıng the pool we do not have any problem now or before. we have a report from the hospıtal to confırm that the problem ıs not because of the pool. the other complaınts are not true ı dıd not hear of any of these thıngs. all our revıews are very good in trip advisor. . we have awards ıncludıng gold choıce and gold medal from thomson and first choice..
my feelıngs are that these people were not happy but ı dıd everythıng they asked and ı was lead to belıeve that they were happy.
finally ı take any customer complaints very serıously and do everythıng in my power to ensure my customers get exactly what they want.but these people dont know what they want.
please check all other reviews about my hotel and make your own decision
thank you very much

Excellent 3* Family orientated hotel
from holidayflyer
We have just returned from a really excellent stay at the Oykun Hotel. Having first visited the hotel last year, we decided to return to see if our initial observations still remained. We were not disappointed! The accommodation was spotless, the staff friendly and the hotel immaculately kept. We used the hotels transfer service from and back to the airport, an air conditioned mini-bus, which was excellent! We stayed on a half-board basis, mainly home cooked Turkish fayre, excellent breakfast with fast food available at lunch if you so wished. There has been some major improvements made to the hotel since last year. The restaurant and bar have been extended , although we did feel that by extending the bar it did lose some of the magical atmosphere it had of the previous year. The bar tenders tended to congregate down at the old end of the bar and ignored those sitting at the other. The first all-weather flat bowling green in Turkey has been installed and did attract quite a large amount of bowlers. Both swimming pools and surrounds are kept very clean and there are plenty of loungers. The one downside we found was that the quiet pool was no longer quiet! The hotel had moved the table tennis, pool and football tables and put them beside the quiet pool. Not a good move! This was like a magnet for the kids and of course the noise and antics generated by them sometimes got out of hand. Several guests were very unhappy with this situation and although they absolutely adored the hotel said they would not be returning. This is a well run hotel and Oykun, the owner, does and is doing everything possible to ensure that this hotel keeps its reputation as being a first class family orientated hotel.
Pleasantly surprised
from elanmac
When we arrived the owner himself carried the cases to our very pleasant room. This was the start of a holiday which I hope I can repeat over the next few years. We have been coming to Turkey for a number of years but this was the best hotel that we have stayed at. The room was spotless and was kept so during our stay. The food was excellent as was the service in reception and in the restaurant. I have never seen so many sunbeds and umbrellas. When the time came for us to depart the owner, his son, the receptionist and the bar manager came to wish us bon voyage.
october jollies

We arrived at the Oykun on the 6th October, at 4 in the morning, after doing this flight with a 1 year old in tow you can imagine we were very tired. The transfer took about 45 mins (we were the first to get dropped off). On arrival the owner greeted us with two lads to carry our cases to the room (they were very quiet in doing so to ensure they didn't disturb any other guests). I have only good things to say about this hotel, the cleanliness, the staff, the pool. Everything was perfect. This was the first time we had taken our child abroad, but I had nothing to worry about here. The staff at the hotel adore children so we were always made to feel welcome here, and in every restaurant we visited (the italian on the sea front is delicious) they came and entertained our little girl once she had been fed so we could have some peace as we ate. One thing I did notice was the amount of mothers/daughters visiting this resort together. I can imagine this is because you feel very safe here. All in all I would really recommend this hotel and resort for people travelling with children or women travelling alone. Definatly take a dolmus through to OluDeniz, however if your going in peak season I suggest you take the water taxi as the dolmus can get pretty hot and swetty! Happy holidays
Excellent Week Except The Weather
from Bitez
We stayed at the Okyun in October last year, and are planning to go in June this year. The hotel is great, very clean, lovely food, and great atmosphere. The staff are wonderful and friendly, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only problem was the weather, rain in Turkey!! Oh Well global warming.
great spot

Four of us went to the oykun for a week on 13th october, arrived at 5 am on the 14th, the two lads on reception didnt hang around, taking our luggage out of our hands in about 2.2 seconds! and taking it upstairs to our room straight away. the rooms were adjacent and were clean, the bathroom was small and clean, towels are changed ever other day, tv in room is ok but you are limited to bbc world, euro news and cnn, unless you speak turkish or german, but for the time spent watching it, its plenty. The breakfast is just the job, the nescafe coffee machine is brilliant, nice milky strong coffee, the pool area is spotless, the bar is good too, large beer costs 3TL (£1.10) ish, the beach at calis is heavy shingle, shelves steeply and was freezing!! so the pool area was more popular, however the pool wasn`t much warmer in october. The turkish bath is well worth the money 20TL well spent. The staff throughout this hotel are brilliant, they never seem to stop working, always on hand with any help you need, and always smiling. The best chicken kebabs in the world are about 5 mins walk away, if you come out of the old part of the hotel and go straight ahead and take a right at the main street, about 20 yards up on the right hand side of the road (just up from the aladdin bar) there`s a guy that wears a doncaster rovers shirt who we christened "johnny doncaster" (brilliant eh!!) that does the best 100% chicken breast wraps (we`ve seen him load the meat on the spit and its 100% chicken breast) all the sauces and salad you could want for 3TL (£1.10) and "real chips" for 2TL the best bargain in calis by a country mile. There are loads of great eating place on the sea front, about 5 mins walk from the oykun, we ate in six different places and all four of us could not say we`d had a bad meal, i stuck to the turkish specials at most places and they were brilliant, my mate had the fish or steak each night and he loved it, if you budget fof about £20 per couple for 3 course meal with drinks you wont be far out, plus nearly every taverna caters for the ankle biters!!
over fiftys club

we stayed at the oykun hotel mid. sept, and the biggest plus for the hotel was that about 70% of the clients were repeat guests, some having been going there for up to ten years or so, and some twice a year. so i suppose it speaks for itself. found the staff and owners very friendly and accommodating, but one problem, as with many hotels was the sunbed situation ie. if you did`nt get one before 9am. you had to chase the sun around the pool for the rest of the day . normally we are beach people, but only went on calis beach once and it was very dirty, and full of rubbish. the trip to fethiye over the ferry was quite novel and cheap, and they crossed every half hour or so all in all we went to turkey for the weather, and after going for 20 years or so remains good value for the money .
Good mid priced hotel
from lilystag
We spent two weeks at the Oykun in a room in the old part of the hotel. The room was quite small with no view from the balcony to speak of, but it was very clean. It has plenty of hanging space and a TV. The bathroom was also compact, the shower curtain did become a bit mouldy towards the end of the fortnight, other than that, the room was OK. The pool area was excellent, two good sized pools, with plenty of sunloungers. There's a bar serving snacks next to the pool. I thought the drinks were quite pricey, what you would expect from a hotel bar. We tended to buy our drinks from the local shops nearby at a third of the price. There's plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and a water taxi just across the street takes you to Fethiye, that runs every half hour until midnight. The local buses to Fethiye can be caught anywhere on the route which is straight past the hotel. Plenty of boat trips are available from around six pounds incl meal, and the jeep safari is good fun, but be prepared to get wet. We also took the local bus to Olu Deniz, it took around 40 mins and cost a few pounds, well worth a visit.
Our Trip To Turkey
from FATPUMPUM1
I travelled to Turkey in July for two weeks with my two daughters aged 13 and twenty months. we arrived at Dalaman airport after a plesant flight. The airport was very very busy and it took an age to get through immigration, then to be told we had to queue again to obtain a visa. Eventually, we got through and were able to board our coach and travel to our hotel. The drive took around forty minutes. We arrived just after midnight. The staff were very friendly, and did eveything to make us comfortable. We were starving and quite dissapointed that there was nothing available to eat. In general, our stay at this hotel was pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Our room was comfortable and cleaned on a daily basis by a lovely lady called Oksian. There was hot water heated by solar therefore not warm until the sun came up. Which wasnt a problem as we were not up until at least 9am! The beds were comfortable and we had a cot for the baby. We hired a fridge in order to keep the babys milk cold We also kept our drinks an fruit in there too. Our stay was half board for seven days and bed and breakfast for the remaining seven days. The food was typical Turkish food. Lots of salad, cold pasta dishes, turkish stews and soups; fresh fruit such as melon and peaches featured regularly. My 13 year old daughter was far from impressed by the food and didnt eat a lot on site. I was forced to order food not on the menu at an extra cost. We ate out every lunch time and after our seven nights were up at the hotel, we ate out in the evenings too. The local restaurants were excellant and i am really pleased that we were not confined to eating at the hotel for the whole trip. The local restaurant's food and service was excellant and really cheap too. My daughter got her appetite back! We recommend Muglar and Suzez. Food was cooked freshly to order, and the variety was huge. Muglar do excellant fish and delicious pancakes with ice cream. The average meal cost around forty lira for the three of us. This included main meal of fish, chicken, meatballs, lamb or steak with pasta, fries and rice or jacket potatoe, soup and fresh bread [delicious] salad, and pancakes with ice cream. Freshly squeezed orange juice. Excellent value for money. At the hotel, they have a Turkish night that is unmissable. It was really good fun..all guests and staff join in with the dancing. They have belly dancers and turkish music. My daughter had a great time. The food was excellent also, well worth the £8 a head, or is included if half board. Oykun hotel have two main pools as well as a baby pool. There are plenty of loungers and umbrellas. There is a well stocked bar and food is available upon request for most of the day. If you have fussy children, the option of burgers, fries, pasta etc is available at extra cost. There is money changing facility available and the rates are the same or better than local money changers. Keep a look out because rates change from day to day. I had a turkish bath onsite with suana and massage. I thoughrally recommend anyone who likes to be pampered take full advantage of this facility. It was wonderful! Another great facility, was the laundry service. Each load cost twenty eight lira [around £10] and came back the same day or early the nextday, washed, ironed and folded! The only complaint i had was that our tv didnt work for the whole of the second week of our stay. I didnt mind, but my 13 year old was most put out not to be able to watch MTV Music channel. I complained to staff an a couple of accaisions but to no avail. The hotel is a family run business and everyone mucks in, including the owner, his son and wife.. If you are looking for a quiet, by the pool soaking up the sun kind of holiday..At a hotel that is family orientated...Oykun is recommended. Its far from the madding crowd, not to big and busy. Efficiently run by caring helpful staff. We also went on excusions with the Thompson reps. We went to Dalyan for a trip to a Sulphur spring and mud bath, very busy at that time of year but enjoyable. Dont miss this trip if you enjoy boat rides. We cruised all the way back to Fetiye and were able to see some breath taking Turkish scenery We went to Oludenez on the local buses by our selves. Where they have beaches and a blue lagoon. A very nice day trip. If fish is your choice to eat. Do go to Fetiye and find the fish market where they sell fresh fish and you can have it cooked to order all for next to nothing! The weather at that time of year was extremely hot. Please do not forget sun screen and lots of moisturiser. Drink plenty of bottled water. And avoid ice in general if you dont want an upset stomach. I would definately go back to Turkey, maybe not at that time of year because the heat was unbearably breathtaking. And i am a sun lover! The turkish people are very friendly, they absolutely adored the baby and were generally lovely every where we went. We walked around all day until late at night and never felt uneasy or in any danger. We travelled all around the local areas, went to Bazaars and travelled on local transport. As a woman alone with two children, it was fine and there was never any cause for any concern. Turkey was lovely, the people were fantastic. The food and value for money was excellent. The hotel was nice and the staff really went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable. It is not a luxurious place to stay, but clean and friendly. A home from home.
Clean but subjected to noise
from moonygem
We booked a week in this hotel as part of a package holiday. We were located in the new extension building where the rooms were newly painted and furnished. The room was cleaned daily but was difficult to get any hot/warm water. The hotel was on a back street few minutes from the main road however was subjected to loud noise coming from a open air hall for wedding receptions. The music blasted loud till 11.30 pm and midnight during wedding functions. I would not advise to use this hotel if you wish to have early nights. I have used earplugs but they were not enough. Altoghether though the room were at a very good standard and very clean.
As a younger couple we stayed in Hotel Oykun for 2 weeks and we found it fantastic!! it is in such a idealic spot, as you can walk down to the beach and calis front, you can get a water taxi to fethiye and its just a bus ride from the more lively ouludinez! we found the... more
