I have just came back from the violin apartments, myself partner and son aged ten stayed there for aweek. It was fithy we had no pillow cases for three days the beds and pillows had stains all over them, the sink in the bathroom was cracked right the way through an repaired with filler the list is endless.i am seeking legal advice as we were totally misled about the apartments.I've stayed in cleaner and better hostels,it should be closed down until it is brought up to a acceptable standard. It ruined our holiday,we would never go back.

This place shouldn't even have arating it should be shut down!! I have been to Turkey more times than I can count and never had a bad experience.....until now! I booked to stay here because the pictures of this complex were amazing, it had everything...NOT!!! It is a complete nightmare. We arrived at 5 in the morning, walked into a reception which resembled nothing more than a run down youth hostel in a back street and smelled like a stale ashtray!! The guy who greeted us was in a jumper and jeans that were so dirty they could almost have walked away and shown us to the rooms on their own!!
Got to the rooms after feeling our way along a pitch black corridor. The first one was really dirty and my kids refused to get into the beds. They then showed us to our room next door and I almost squealed when he opened the door...It looked like 40 vagrants had been sqatting in it for the last 6 months!!..There was rubbish lying all around the room, bins turned over, plates with food still on them that were growing fur coats and dirty beds that ppl were still sleeping in.
They apologised profusely and left us in the room next door. This room had a hole where the hot plate used to be, there were faeces on the sheets along with someones pubic hair. There was no ceiling in the Bathroom and the toilet and sink were hanging off the wall. The patio doors wouldn't open and there was no kettle or toaster )not that you would have used it if there was. By this point my kids were begging for me to take them home. Everyone staying there was desperate to get out ... and believe it or not when I confronted the rep he told me they had never recieved a complaint from anyone!!! I told him I would walk him round the pool and get him some!!
Another party staying there had been there 2 hours and had their ipod docking station stolen.
Needless to say we made the rep move us into Gumbet and our holiday was saved but please , please stay away from this place it is horrendous.

This was the worst holiday we have ever had. From day one when we were put in a dirty room with wires hanging out of the wall until the day we checked ourselves out to look for other accommodation. In my opinion this is not a 4* hotel and I was not alone thinking this as everyone I spoke to shared the same opinion.
In reality the hotel had very little resemblance to the pictures posted on wed sites. The housekeeping standards are shocking and the facilities just about non existent during my stay. Mix all this with rude staff who overcharge you at the bar constantly, who will gang up on you if you question the bill, and in one situation I witnessed, will hit you with sticks if you protest about the bill.
Not a place I will be visiting again and would not recommend this to anyone, not even my worst enemies.

We arrived at 8am after long transfer and were taken to a room which I can only describe as in the Dungeon. The corridor to the rooms was filthy and when we went into the room we were hit by the heat and the smell of grease. The sink in the bathroom was hanging off the wall and the toilet didn't look as if it had seen a drop on bleach for years, on the bed in the bedroom were 2 grubby hand towels, when my husband opened the window in the bedroom to let in some fresh air, it had been boarded up. We walked onto the balcony which was supposed to be sea view, we were right in the corner overlooking the restuarant and a grubby cigarette covered garden. When i asked to change the room we were told perhaps at 2pm, with that we left our luggage and walked to another self catering accomodation and paid for 2 weeks there, when we went back to collect luggage and give back the key, the Manager just shrugged and took it. I would not recomend this place to my worst enemy, this place was advertised a a 4 star accomodation, it was more like 'no star' Turgutreis is a lovely place and it is a shame that places like this are going to give it a bad name. DO NOT STAY THERE i have given this place an overall rating of 1 that is only because there is nothing lower than that -100 would be more like it

Myself and partner have just returned from a weeks holiday here and i wish i was still there. I found no problems at all with the hotel, fair enough no toaster or kettle but im on holIday cooking is not in my plans. Our room was lovely and cleaned every other day, air con worked fine but i didnt think it was that hot at night so never used it. The view from our room was fantastic just what we wanted. I couldnt fault the food it was lovely and if you ate at 8/10 you got 40% discount (the comment of 40ytl is rubbish i paid 12 on a morning for a BLT with chips and salad thats £6 so reasonable i thought.)
As for paying your bill i was fine with this all we did was pay after each meal or drink, before paying i added it all up and was never once over charged. The hotel staff were friendly enough maybe not as friendly as the lads from nutters bar but all in all they were fine. I thought the pool was clean and tidy, maybe too cold but thats not a bad thing on a hot day. As for the walk into town i thought it was a lovely walk, by the sea and then along the gardens and the pier with all the expensive boats. The only bad thing was the hill but after a day or so you got use to it. All in all i had fantastic holiday and would defo go there again.

Booked 2 weeks S/C from 31 Aug; arrived 4 a.m. to a room with no kitchen, lots of windows with few curtains (1st fl, corner room). Moved to a better room (eventually) next day following promises of "your room will be ready in 5 mins". So lost 1st day of hol. No towels in room; finally tracked down the cleaners to room we had vacated to find them both asleep on the beds! AC advertised but doesn't work throughout the hotel, same with many of the electric sockets. Unfortunately this room next to reception so very noisy that when people left in middle of night we got little sleep. Requested a further move to 2nd floor after 3 days. By this time I had learnt to "acquire" what was not provided; so stocked up on pillows from previous room, borrowed a kettle from someone who was leaving and if the cleaners' trolly was in corridor, helped myself to fresh towels. Sheets not changed in 10 days. Blanket bed covers (provided in place of a top sheet) NEVER changed when new clients moved in, so we took clean sheets off spare bed. The pool became more and more murky so we couldn't see the bottom; we went down the road to another pool. The whole place is not particularly clean and the staff sitting around most of the time. The whole problem down to bad management; it could be a really nice place. Bar prices extortionate but this is usual for hotels. Turgutreis itself excellent resort.

Myself and my husband arrived very early in the morning ( 6am) after a bad and very long transfer ( supposed to be 1 hour and ended up as 2). We found no cooking facilites ( all rusty) avaiable but the guy at reception was happy to bring us bottled water. On waking we found the view from our room wonderful as it looked towards to sea ( if not slightly obstructed by what looked like a run down old bar area - was wondering whether this was the non exsistent disco that had been promised!) I found it a real shame that the apartments were so run down as a lick of paint/good tidy up and some pots and pans would have made a hell of a difference! The baby pool was unsuitable, beaches unmaintained ( full of rubbish, fag butts which was a real shame as the sun sets are beautiful) and the 15 min walk to town was actually 30 mins ( which caused a few more elderly people a problem as they had to get taxi's) We were self catering so didn't eat at the pool bar but I had been told that the food was terrible ( 40 YTL for a cheese sandwich, burnt chicken and chips and 2 very small beers!) Also, we heard many people complaining that they had been over charged for drinks ( you weren't allowed to pay upfront for the drinks etc - we tried to argue this when we bought 2 beers but the bar man wouldn't take the money- subsequently we didn't buy another there all holiday which lost them money!) For what we paid for the holiday we had a fantastic time but I understand that alot of people had paid 4* prices for what was no more than a 2*. Turgutreis town was fantastic- much as Bodrum... we made friends with the folks at Ozmen hotel just across the road where the drinks were cheap and plates of fresh fruit and nuts were offered as a gesture! Infact next time we may stay there as the pool was clean, the surroudings beautiful and only £20 per night :-) A word of warning though- make sure all your hot and cold beverages are made with bottled water!!

well myself and my partner arrived to be put in a room that was not fit to stay very very dirty (pillows, bedding, towels, cupboards.toilet, utensils, and the only pan we had) i went straight down to reception to change rooms to which we found was worse, the 2 ring cooker was unfit to cook on (not that i would have attempted to)no kettle which we requested 3 times, the towels were still stained, bedding marked, freezer solid not even enough room to fit the small ice trayand my god the bathroom, the toilet so marked i wanted to buy bleach but no where to buy,the basin was cracked at the front and back of the marble top and collapsed at one side which was very unsafe and under the sink it was propped up with chip board.
The rep the following morning was as helpful as the staff (which were young males)this place has got to be a - 3star.
We stayed 1 night and that was too many in fact we shared a taxi with an other couple into gumbet where we both sorted our own accomodation to which we really enjoyed, the place is beautiful but this hotel should be shut down and revised the star rating it deserves -0 we re-name this hotel as hotel [-] hole

Just returned from 2 weeks at Violin Hotel. Have to admit, did not find it quite as bad as some of the reviews here, but did find it sadly lacking in some departments.
Firstly the room we were given was in a corner at the back behind the resturant so what would have been a beautiful view was blocked. Also, the toilet leaked (only water - thankfully) so we spent the whole time mopping up so as to keep the rest of apartment clean.
Also, for a self catering apartment, the facilities were very poor. No kettle, pots, cooking utensils, cups!!! Did ask several times for even a pot at least, and although staff were very pleasant and assuring, requests fell on deaf ears so eventually gave up and bought kettle, mugs & frying pan.
We did ask to be moved to another room, but were told that hotel was full so would take a couple of days. We were offered a new room up stairs eventually - after 1st week was finished, but by that time we had bought what we needed, unpacked & settled in, so couldn't be bothered with the hassle of packing up & moving.
Air conditioning was a bit of a joke too. Blew hot air and after requesting a fan countless times, we eventually got one off a young couple who were leaving after our 1st week. This did help a bit, however, there are no sockets in the bedroom so we ended up sleeping in the living room to try and get some cool-ish air.
Also, having read the reviews before we went about bar bills, we tried to stay away from the hotel bar apart from one night when there was a Turkish night. £7 each for entertainment & food. Ended up having to tip every act - traditional dancers & belly dancers & STAFF (yes, bar staff actually came round with tip box too) and still ended up with bar bill for 130 YTL!!! Not convinced actually spent that as didn't have that much to drink, but no point arguing from what we had been told - just didn't drink there again.
Having said this, we did have a fantastic holiday. The location of the hotel was ideal for what we were looking for. Blissfully quite area (apart from pool music which plays constantly & barking dogs) but close enough to the biz when you want it. There is a very steep hill to walk up to get to the hotel so may not suit people with walking difficulties but a taxi is only 9 lira (£4.50) and it is a lovely walk into town along the water front (about 30 mins relaxing stroll). The staff were also very freindly & courteous and we did have a good laugh with some of them - in particular Typhoon (?).
So all in all we had a lovely time, but I don't think I would return to this hotel. Could have put up with the lack of amenties but in that heat - 36-40 degrees, air-con is a must!! It's a shame because with the staff they have & the spaceous rooms, this could be a wonderful hotel if it was updated a bit.

Well........i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. All the jargon you will have supposedly heard or told of how great it was there or what to expect facility wise is rubbish. I went with my girlfriend who was really excited from the homepage this so called "4 star" hotel claimed it had too offer yet as soon as we arrived you could clearly see it had all been fabricated....- There was no indoor swimming pool, no kids section area, no satalite tv ( just some Turkish channels with subs) and thats if u were lucky enough to get a TV that worked! The pool itself had all sorts of insects literally swimming in it. If you are planning to come self catered- plan on bringing a kitchen with you as the only function-able appliance was a fridge and two very dirty hobs in which to cook what ever the city 2 miles away had to offer! The beach which is apparently only 200 meters away is just a coast of rocks...you would have to make your way to the city for any chance of sand if a beach is want u want in this holiday package. The food prices were deeply over priced and even giving into such extortion you would probably have to pay twice if not three times as much for ghost food orders.....someone is pocketing some serious free lera here!
If you have read this review and still find yourself wanting the VIOLIN HELL PACKAGE go ahead, but too the people who don't want a holiday full of confrontations of things you have more than likely paid for and are entitled too that get pushed aside and disregarded...STAY AWAY!!!
Your Sincerely Hollzenio

i booked a holiday from 24/08/08-07/09/08 for myself and my boyfreind for 2 weeks and we both wish we were still there. travel from the airport is hard though as we were told were only 20 mins away from bodrum but were not told the airport was 2 hours away from here in milas.
we arrived just after 5 on the sun nite and were greeted by a lovely young gentlman who helped carry bu case up the stairs. we were given a very clean, spacious room and when he opened the balcony doors i was amazed as the view was amazing. i saw the sun set every night and watched the million pound yachts float by everyday.
the apartments are a bit away from the busy part but we walked most nights only a few nites getting a taxi which set us back £4 (9 lira). in the centre on the 1st few nights we tried to eat somewhere different. i would recommend alin's - very reasonably cheap and the staff were lovely. for a drink visit the radio bar as it was fantastic and the staff were amazing and help you with everything, we went back again and again!!!!!!!
unfortunatley they dont have a great beach as it is all rocky but the pool at the apartments make up for it. all staff were amazin and were brilliant with the kids from what i could see with others.
they had a turkish night both fridays we were there which cost us £7 each (15 lira) and well worth it as they had an open buffet and the food was great.
overall we wish we were still there and cant wait to go back so get booked up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

myself and my fiance have just got back after staying at this hotel.
booked through teletext and a company called united blue and holiday taxis.
it has got to be the worst place we have ever stayed in, when we arrived to start with the room looked ok we then went on to discover that we had rusty cutlery no cups one saucepan and no kettle cooker or toaster the only one cooking ring worked in the room and the fridge didnt even get cold. The pillows were stained and our room was only cleaned twice in a week with a dirty mop!!the kitchen sink had grit in it and the worktops were filthy our sheets were not changed for the whole time we were there and we had to request towels which were also not changed.
there is no entertainment for children!!!!!
the disco is being used for protitutes and there customers.
overall i would recomend that you DO STAY at this hotel it does not deserve the 3 stars it has.
