Aug 2008, Mrs J Charnock

Hi, We have literally just returned from the garden of sun. Thank goodness it was only for a week. It is the worst holiday we have had with regard to an all inclusive package, and we have done allocation on arrival before now.
On arrival, we were shown to our room. this had an interlocking door with the next room. (To be used by families) The door would not lock. An engineer was called to the room, he then proceeded to shave off art of the door frame. Managed to lock it eventually but left us with the keys. (Not good if we were that way inclined, we could have waited for the family next door to go out and rifled through their room) Thankfully for them we were not.
1st day in resort, went ok. eggs for breakfast but oh wait a min you had a choice. fried eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, omelettes, by the third day we were living on bread and jam. Tea was the same. chicken chicken oh and turkey then more chicken. we virtually lived on frozen french fries and sweets. If your a rabbit then you will be fine, plenty of salad.
The air conditioning was set at 160c which was far too hot to sleep in, we called reception and they told us to sleep on the balcony. (Nice.) Fridges were available in the room s but beware everything is warm and you are charged. The alcohol stops being all inclusive at 11pm and after that it has to be charged to your room.
One of the nights someone accidentally fell off the balcony, the managers answer to this was ""We water the beer down so we do not have drunks on the premises as this is what happens. (We actually think the guy was very badly injured) All in all we would not visit this hotel again, even for free. The housekeepers were lovely, the reception staff did there best but the rest were really miserable and ruined our holiday. We wanted to return home on day 4. This is from a couple that usually get emotional on leaving. whilst this time we actually wanted to wave a flag. everyone was unhappy. I would not rate this as a 5 star hotel whatsoever,it is more like a 2. I also questioned this with the manager who said standards had slipped but blamed the staff, He said they learning!!

Just got back from Turkey where we...

Aug 2008, Mr C Harmston

Just got back from Turkey where we stayed in the Garden of Sun hotel which is all inclusive and rated as a 5 star hotel. From the outside the hotel and grounds could pass as a 5 star hotel but when you add the ignorant non co-operative hotel staff, the one dining area, the lack of choice of watered down beer and spirits which were mostly served in small plastic beakers that had an engrained white film around the inside of the cup,the repetitive menus, having to pay for all drinks that are served after 11pm,the childrens club which is a small dirty unsupervised room with a few baby toys, the drinks policy at the bars which is 2 drinks to 1 person and the over the top security staff situated at the entrances ,around the hotel grounds and pool area it brings the rating down to a 3 star hotel. The hotels daily activities are repetatative with little variation and become tedious after only a short stay.

Garden of Sun?! MORE LIKE GARDEN OF CHICKEN N CHIPS!!
haha, na garden of sun is a really nice hotel.
some of the staff are really kind n helpful, but others just don't smile AT ALL.
the poool is masssssive, kinda deep though n aint got a shallow end, but its kool, coz theres a kiddies pool.. WITH WATER SLIDES!! which r soooooooo good. 3pm - i was there every day lol. ON THEM SLIDES. :-)
you can't reli get pissed in the day either - coz all the drinks are watered down.!
through out the day u can join in , in loadssssss of different games!
mini golf - croquet - pool games e.g water polo, and some games they made themselves.
E.g, women sit in a line on chairs n men sit nxt 2 them. the person nearest the pool has 2 wet the towel - u throw it over ur shoulder too the nxt person n wen it gets to the bak , that person has 2 get rid of all the water - or sqeez it out as much as they can. u then pass it bk forward 2 the girl/women at the front oo gets it wet agen, this goes on until the person squeezin it at the bak as filled up a bucket. quite fun really. :-)
food - nothing 2 moan about. pool - nothing too moan about. rooms - EXCELLENT!!
movin onto the night life - if you're a RAVER or a CLUBBER - you will LOVE IT.
just a 10 min ride on a bus dwn the road n BAM ur in town.
u will get hassled by EVERY bar man outside the bars, just say noo thanks mate.
and DONT promise ul do anything. coz i did it a couple of times, n nxt time i saw them, i got shouted at by them lol. so do b warned - they get offended.
if ur a first timer in turkey - i advise u too hit paradise bar where u will find some GORGEOUS men :-),, n then on too GALAXY BAR - which doesn't normalii get busy till bout alf 1/2 .... but trust me its worth waitin for.!!!!!!!
i can not WAIT too go bak next year! it was the best holiday iv ever been on!!
u never know wot could happen on holiday - i mean - i come bak with a boyfriend. haha, and NO E AINT TURKISH! hahaha - JUST LIVE IT TOO THE FULL!!!!!!!
me, my mum, my dad n ma sister did NOT wanna come home.!!!
make the most of it - 2 weeks wasn't even NEAR ENOUGH for me.

Jul 2008, Mr Kr Cook

this is the worse all inclusive holiday ever the whole holiday was a shambles from the start first of all we got to our room to find dirty towels and sheets then took a day to change them then went down to breakfast to find that they only cater for themselves this was the same at lunch and tea unless you wanted to live on burnt chips i ended up eating out with my wife and 2 children on an all inclusive holiday that cost me around 800 pound even the free kids ice cream was only available from 3.00 till 3.30 and if you were to far back in the que you had no chance of one on our last day we had to be out of our room by miday we was to be picked up from hotel at 2 in the morning we tryed paying to keep our room like it said in our brosure just so we could sort out our kids but no chance they even cut off our bands so that we had to pay for everything on our last day it was disgustjng

Arrived at hotel at 5am was shown to our room and then discoverd it wasnt facing pool
which we had payed extra for.The receptionist corrected this right away and we were
given aroom with a view of the pool that was much bigger and spacious. The staff were
excellent everyone of them was friendly and very helpful all you need to do is be friendly with them and they would be more relaxed and have a bit of crack with you.
The food was very good and there was something for every one. the beer was watered
down but if you drink the raki they cant do anthing with it or it would cloud up its very
good with lemonade.Get a dolmus on saturday outside the back door tell the driver
you want the market it costs 1-25 lire as does anywhere in altinkum.Went to Soke for
shopping outlets but didnt make much of them.Always remember to barter for everything in the shops or at the market.Back to the hotel if you have a late check out time you can ask for a room this costs £20 per person but no charge for children and includes allinclusive or you can pay £5 per adult to keep your armband. There where
people who seemed to be moaning about anything but you seem to find these anywhere
i can honestly say that this place does not deserve any of the necative revues it has
recieved. Me and my partner and the two children that went with us had one of the best
times.

we stayed at the Garden of Sun in September 2007 and had a fantastic holiday. I dont know what people expect. The rooms were large, clean and the air conditioning was excellent. The view from our room was not great - there were apartments being built but you have to remember the resort is still being developed so this will happen. However we did only pay for a land view. If you want a sea view you do have to pay extra when you book.
The food was great with something to suit everyone including soup, salads, meats, fish, various potato dishes.
Altinkum itself is great with lovely shops and restaurants.
The holiday was so good we have booked again for 2008!

Just returned from Garden of Sun, went with my 3 children aged 18, 12 and 7 and we all had a fantastic time. Had a lovely clean, large room over looking the pool. Hotel and grounds are beautiful and kept very clean. Pool area really nice, kids had a great time on water slides. Animation team are fantastic and work really hard, we all enjoyed the games round and in the pool which were held each day. The only reason I didn't score the holiday 10/10 was due to the food choice. I have stayed in many all inclusive hotels and the choice and quality of food has always been much better then here. Most hotels have a kids section but they were not catered for here, which ment my 7 year old only ate chips and melon (apart from when we ate out). There are some nice bars and restaurants to eat in town. All in all had a fab holiday and what the food lacked the fantastic weather made up for, lol.

EVERYONE DO NOT PANIC!!! This hotel...
7 / 10
Jul 2008, Miss C ROGERS

2 readers found this review helpful

EVERYONE DO NOT PANIC!!! This hotel is not as bad as everyone is making out,i dont understand what half of these people are moaning about, its not as bad as they make out, granted there are a few areas which need sorting, but there is nothing terrible about this hotel.
I'm 24 and went with my mum and dad and 16 yr old sister (I went with them as my partner didn't want to go away this year, just to clear that up) its a long transfer from bodrum to the hotel so make sure you go to the loo before you set off,i worried all the way as there was nothing along the roads,it was just dirt tracks everywhere and pitch black!
On getting to the garden of sun,it looked gorgeous from the outside, the inside is amazing, especially at night, its so beautifully lit,the rooms are lovely, spacious, clean, air conditioned,no complaints there,if you are at the front of the hotel the view is a bit cack, you look out onto a bar, which isn't bad, however the building behind it is a bit of an eye sore!
But me and my sister were worried,no bars, clubs, shops, and we were told we were only 10 mins away from the town but couldnt see it anywhere.
Morning came and we went and had a look around, the pool area is huge!!!!! There are always plenty of sunbeds whatever time you get up!
The pool is big and the slides on the kiddies pool side are brilliant, especially the blue one!!!
Only problem is there is only 1 bar around the pool,so you sometimes have to queue a bit to get a drink, but we bought bottled water and just kept re filling it during the day from the dispensers i would recommend you do this at night too and take water to your room.
The animation team are very nice people, however ozzy is a bit miserable looking, banderous is sooo cute, always smiling, full of energy, loved my dad for some reason!!!
The food isn't the best ive ever had and considering it supposed to be 5* it definately wasnt to that standard, but if u like rice, chips, chicken,LOADS of salads,Pasta you`ll be fine, there is something for everyone!!! Can be a bit cold at times but it was edible.
The drinks are watered down but it was so hot when we were there we just wanted water and juice.
The bar staff and reception staff are quite rude,we had an argument with them as all inc finishes at 11pm,and when we tried to take beer to our room they said we werent allowed which we werent happy about as all the previous all inc we had been on it finished at 12am and we were not gonna pay prices in the hotel.
There is a shop if u walk out the back gates of the hotel and turn right, its MUCH cheaper than the hotel one!
The evenings are a bit boring, the entertainment is down the other end of the pool area, with no bar! you have to walk all the way back down the other end to get a drink, which a lot of people didnt like.
They try hard but its not really entertainment, its just a bunch of adults being dipsticks,DO NOT PLAY THE BINGO,its the longest game ive ever played!
Anyway for those "younger and lively" persons the town literally is 10min walk down the road,or you can walk out the back gates of the hotel and jump on the bus, tell them dolphin square and they will tell u where to get off its 1l.25 for the bus which is like 60p,u need to catch it on the otherside of the road from the hotel, failing that turn left outside the hotel, and keep walking straight, pass the funfair on the right, carry on straight and you are on the beach front, which is where all the bars, clubs, restaurants and shops are.
Girls do get hassled by EVERY promoter outside EVERY bar and club, but its their job just tell them no thanks and keep walking, the paradise bar was good we went there every night before going to galaxy bar, there is a bloke who stands outside to get you in called arron,MY GOD! HE IS SOOOOO GORGEOUS!!! If i couldve took him home in my case i wouldve!!
Anyway, they are very friendly, one of them even went to the shop to get my sister crisps coz she was hungry!!! They also used to meet us out after the bar had closed, one thing out there,if u say ur gonna do something,or u "promise" to do something, they will hold you to see it through and are quite offended if you break it!
RIGHT THE GOOD BIT, GaLaXy BaR the place to go !!!!!!!!!!! Briliant music, great atmosphere, and the bar staff are so friendly, mind you we were in there every night, felt like part of the furniture!
Ali is just great to sit and stare at,and his brother john is lovely,he used to drive me and my sister back to our hotel every night!!
Turkish men dont have a good reputation i know, but some of them are the most kindest people ive ever met, extremely protective if you are sitting on your own or if some1 is hassling you they will help u out, john used to come over and kiss my cheek and take me to the bar with him!!!! HAha
Anyway im wondering here!
OVERALL, THE HOTEL IS FINE! THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT,IF YOU WANT A RELAXING HOLIDAY THAT IS THE PLACE IF YOU WANT TO GO OUT ON THE LASH EVERY NIGHT THEN THATS THERE FOR YOU TOO,YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME!
I CAME HOME YESTERDAY AND AM SO DEPRESSED,I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!
IM MISSING IT BIG TIME,I CRIED WHEN WE SAID GOODBYE TO EVERYONE! AND IVE NEVER DONE THAT ON A HOLIDAY!
BUT HONESTLY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS HOTEL,GO AND ENJOY YASELF!
I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!!!

Just returned from week at hotel....
9 / 10
Jul 2008, Mrs K Foley

Just returned from week at hotel. Food excellent and found staff extremely helpful. Hotel extremely clean. We went with little girl - 2 1/2 and after first day thought she was a little bored so then went to "3rd beach" for four days. "Mr Banana man " sells fantastic fresh fruit. Few complaints we overheard by guests about lager and vodca, watered down but that was all we heard. Sometimes dont think the english are happy unless they complain!!!!. night time kids entertainment (mini disco) same every night and after first night our daughter had had enough. There is an adult disco on site and our room was above it, if had stayed for longer would have asked to be moved as could hear boom from our room and disco did not end until 3am!!!!!!!!!!!! just be careful if you have a room anywhere near the childrens pool so to the left of the hotel if you looking from the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my only moan!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We were sad to leave and had a good time. For children the slides (the adults enjoyed too!) are open 11 - 12 and 3 -5. Icecreams are available 3pm until they are gone (not long and usually a queue) Would def recommend the melon dessert (like a cake with glazed melon and cream). Have to say the desserts were fab, not only in appearance but in taste. My little girl ate the best ive seen her in a long time and that was one of my concerns. I would rate this as a 4*. Hope all that go enjoy, and dont read too much into the bad reviews, dont know what on earth they expect!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We paid £950 for a week for three all inclusive and it was worth it, every penny. Went into dolphin square, main area of altinkum and that was a bit pushy but still ok. There is a fun fair ten mins from hotel and worth a visit one night. Not loads of rides but ok for a change. Overall, very enjoyable.

Jul 2008, Mrs H M Murray

i went to this hotel with my millionaire husband expecting 5* service like i am used to. i was not impressed.
There were cochroaches in our room, flies in the food and an an ignorant bar tender. He faniced me.
The vodka was watered down and it tasted like the water out of the bathroom (dirty and stale)
My husband wasnt impressed with the food and he must of gained about a stone in weight. it was greasy and tasted like Jamie Oliver had cooked it!
Not nice
The health and safety was appauling. out room neighbour had his child taken to hospital when she was given raw chicken because the oven broke. The turkish claimed it was a delecasy.
The pool was dirty and had more spiders swimming in it than people. Very off putting.
Two people unfortunatly fell through the large open windows on the stairwells situated at both ends of the hotel. the man who fell from the 5th unfortantly died but luckly the child who fell from the second floor survived but is now in a spinal-jacket for the rest of her life.
When i mentioned this to the manager he replied ''i told no complaining about the food, its was probably the chef.
So to summarise throughly entertaining holiday , would go back again if they can guarantee more fatalities and accidents.
So, if you want food poisoning, Grotty water and a ''convienient'' death
THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!
