Olive garden hotel and holiday

Sep 2011, Netty

We found the apartments to be basic with all the amedities that are needed, but did not like the ants although they were manageable.
The Bar area was lovely with seating area and wonderful views of the sea and lower down in Lassi. The hill was a killer though, I managed to climb it three times we also took a walk to Agostoli which was lovely, the town itself was busy and full of tourist not quiet like Lassi.
The restaurants in Lassi were nice but the best was the Blue Sky restaurant,we found the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The bar staff at the Olive Garden were also friendly and welcoming, lots of knowledge and very helpful. My husband and I would definately come here again.

Just back from two wonderful weeks in olive gardens Lassi had a great time The appartment are usual Greek Style ( 4 wall and the usual kitchen stuff ) you could sit outside and have breakfast. It was also majic siiting having lunch looking down watching all the boat go by into Argostoli The only slight problem you have is you have to come up the hill after visiting a few tavernas If you get a taxi up then it is 5Euros
Fantastic time was had by us

The HILL is a killer

Jun 2010, Mountain goats we aint!!

The complex is very clean, smart, and well laid out when you first arrive theres this amazing view over the whole area,Then you realise you are on the top of a mountain and its greta being up there but you have to go down at some stage to visit the restuarants and beaches.
Be prepared for the walk if you do go for it be very prepared for the walk back up, its gonna tell in the morning if your fit or not??
My advise is to hire a car and let the engine have the heart attack rather than you ruining your holiday with the pain from the walking up the Hill (mountain) road.
its definately not for the faint hearted!!
Unfortunately this did put a bad bit in the holiday because once you have done the walk a few times you dont want to do it again and we travelled by cab back up on most nights.

Olive Gardens Lassi

We have just come back from a 2 week holiday at the Olive Garden Apartments in Lassi. The apartment complex was lovely, laid out in pretty gardens with stunning views from the pool and bar area over the bay. The view does come at a price though - the apartments are situated on a VERY steep hill, which when tackled in the heat of the day is not nice. Once the sun went down it was fine though and helped burn off those extra ice creams!! Plus it was nice to be in a peaceful location away from the main strip of bars and restaurants. The apartments are mostly 3 storey maisonettes, the bottom floor being the studios and the top 2 floors were 2 storey apartments. The other studios were underneath the pool/bar area and did not seem to be as nice/private as the maisonette studios (we were in room 8 which had lovely sea views and a private terrace area).
The rooms were basic but very clean, kitchen included fridge/freezer, oven, hobs, toaster and kettle. Plenty of cutlery/plates/pots and pans were provided too. The apartments are run by an English family who were very friendly and helpful.
The beaches in Lassi are the best we've been to outside of the Caribbean, crystal clear water, beautiful sandy beaches, little fish swimming around your ankles!!
The strip of bars and restaurants in Lassi do not over look the sea which I was disappointed about as we like to walk around a harbour area at night time, the walk into Argostoli is not too long though and it has a bustling harbourside atmosphere and some really good restaurants - we really enjoyed 'The Captains Table' on the sea front. When eating in Lassi we stuck to the recomendations in the guide book and had some fantastic meals. Eating out is not expensive, its the drinks which really bump the price up!
We hired a car from the rep for 100 Euros for 3 days and visited Skala, Fiscardo, Assos, Sami and Myrtos beach. Myrtos is STUNNING from the top but not so good at the bottom, the sea is very rough here and the beach very pebbley. Assos was beautiful, we had an evening meal here by the harbour. Fiscardo was very pretty too and great for wandering around.
A must is a visit to the Melisani Lake which is unbelievable, the Drogaratti Caves were worth a look too.
Overall a lovely relaxing holiday, great if you just want to chill out by the pool/beach and not do much. Not so good if you like sightseeing.

Olive gardens were lovely for our family holiday last summer. we had a 2 story 2 bedroom apartment witha fantastic view. facilities were fairly basic but more than adequate and we had a fantastic time. The pool area is lovely, great for kids and teenagers.
Although on a big hill we are a family of walkers so fairly fit and usded it as out twice daily exercise up and down, and an excuse to eat ice cream and drink the local wine. Once you've done it once it isn't bad at all. That said if you are there in the summer and walk up at the hottest part of the day, buy a bottle of water at the bottom first!
We can also recommend the long walk to Argostoli, round the country roads and past the lighthouse. Again, make sure you take water with you, and stop at the hotel by the lighthouse, they were very nice! Enjoy Kefalonia, it is a lovely place. This was our first visit and I would happily return, and happily return to the Olive Garden.

My holiday was really fantastic! The rooms were so clean and i really relaxed! The views from the pool were magnificent! You couldn't get that view from anywhere else, as the olive garden is set on the corner of a huge hill you can see around to the island on your right which is Luxuri, and the island a bit further on was Zante! Absolutley breathtaking! Myself and my boyfriend spent most of the day by the pool, which is huge and its a real suntrap up there! Got a great tan! The bar we visited quite a few times!! Andy the owner, is very nice and made sure we had everything we needed, told us about great restaurants and places to visit, hes english and has been living here for 13 years. Also his daughter Sam works there during the day and i got on very well with her! Obviously as a girl in my early 20's i wanted to go out, and as she was the same age she showed me all the great bars and clubs! Had a fantastic time, didnt have to cook once, as Andy has a great menu, from traditional salads to toasties to chillie wraps to jacket potatoes and at a very reasonable price! Have booked to go there again next year and would reccommend the olive garden to everyone!!

We have recently come back from a week in the Olive Garden Apartments in Lassi. We booked last minute and got a really good deal. We stayed in a studio apartment and although the room was a bit on the small side it had all the basics- kettle, toaster, fridge and 2 ring cooker and even a fan was supplied. We had clean towels and sheets 3 times in a week and the aparments were cleaned every day. The pool was lovely with fantastic views over the resort below. The gardens were very well kept and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
The spectacular views from the complex come with a price!! people had warned us about the steep hill but nothing can prepare you for it! It's a long winding country lane that just keeps going up and up and up. we managed it twice a day for the whole week and only really struggled in the afternoon when it was hot. There are taxi's that will take you up the hill for 5 euro's. Also i would recommend that you leave your supermarket shop to the evenings as it's easier to carry water etc.. when it' a bit cooler. Also the main Lassi Supermarket do offer a free delivery service on a Wednesday and Friday. If you spend over 20 euros they will deliver your shopping to the door for free.
Lassi has lovely beaches the main beach (long beach) is beautiful it is a long stretch of white sand which is split into about 3 swopping bays. beds cost about 8 euros for 2 beds and a parasol.
Restaurants in Lassi are great and we never had a bad meal in the entire week we were there. I would definately recommend Nefeli's restaurant, Sirtaki, Phaedra and Zorbas which is at the opposite end to all the other restaurants next to Lassi Supermarket. There a few bars aquarious, Simple and our favourite was Odyessy.
You can walk into Argostoli which is a lovely walk mainly down hill!! so we got a taxi back which only cost 6 euro but was worth it.
Overall it's a beautiful island and well worth a visit a week was long enough for us but if you like going trips or car hire then i'm sure there would be enough to do for 2 weeks. Just remember that everywhere is hilly but the views are certainly worth it.

Fantastic place to stay, a beatiful setting ( make sure you ask for a sea veiw) the pool and bar area is a very pleasant place to relax. The apartments are at the top of a steep hill, but it does say that in the brochure so what are you complaining about!.
The resort is just the right size, not too busy, but also a good selection of bars and restaurants. Would definitely go back.

My partner and I stayed at the Olive...

Jul 2007, Miss Amanda Smith

My partner and I stayed at the Olive Garden Hotel for 2 weeks.
Our room was described as a 'sea view' room. On the internet the only pictures of the rooms were the two bedroom ones, which looked great. As there were only two of us we opted for a double room, I wasn't expecting it to be as nice, but as it was still quite expensive we were still expecting it to be of good quality...little did we know!
The room was small to say the least and even though it appeared clean at first, things like the plug sockets were filthy. The furnishings were pretty bad and there was barely any draw space.
However the worst was yet to come. On entering the 'bathroom' (if you can call it that) we discovered that it was more like a shower room. No shower curtain and there wasn't even a hook to hang the shower head on. I've got very long hair so as you can understand hair wash times were quite an ordeal! Everything in the room would also end up drenched.
For some reason the supply (or lack of) toilet roll seemed to become a real issue. When we first arrived a toilet room was supplied however after a few days it hadn't been replaced, however the cleaner had taken the time to throw away the cardboard tube when it had run out.
We weren't told anything so we resorted in taking toilet roll from the pool bar toilets. As explained later it wasn't as if you could just pop to the shop if you were in desperate need of loo roll! Both of us started to think that maybe it was up to us to buy our own loo roll but I've been on holiday to Greece before and stayed in real budget accommodation and there was never any shortage of loo roll!
During our holiday there was a bit of a heat wave going on and temperatures didn't really drop below the high thirties. The nights were so uncomfortable that we ended up paying for air conditioning. At 8 Euros a night we thought it was very expensive and it really pushed up the price of the holiday.
I really did like the pool and bar area. The pool was nice, there was a good atmosphere, and it was very clean. They have a BBQ and quiz night on Saturdays and this was fantastic. Food was great and the quiz was great fun.
I had read on numerous reviews that the hotel was up a hill and people who were less able may struggle... a complete under statement! Walking down was fine but even we (fairly fit couple in our 20's) struggled in the searing heat.
There is no supermarket near the hotel so you have to contemplate the hill or opt for a taxi. I know they're only 5 Euros a go but it certainly adds up.
I was finding that the last few days of the holiday I was really looking forward to getting home so I could have a proper shower and be back in my comfortable house. However the final nail in the coffin was when there was no water in the entire hotel.
We mentioned it to the staff and they told us that the whole of Kefalonia had no water.
We had to use bottles water to wash from a saucepan (there was no plug for the sink). There's something I don't want to experience again!
We headed into town worried that there would be chaos but all the bars seemed to be fine. We got back that night and there was not any water until the next day. Then later on the next day the water was off again (luckily after we'd had a shower).
We did see a message from the holiday rep saying the reason for the water problems was due to a burst water main in the main town; however you can understand why I was sceptical!
I would definitely go back to Kefalonia as it is such a beautiful place however I would advise anyone thinking of staying at this hotel to think again… believe me you'll be glad you did!
