Lisbon was wonderful - My recommendation is to use the trams very easy to use as long as you have change! We also paid for a full day trip via coach. The morning was spent in Lisbon (saw much more via the trams system), but the afternoon was spent in Sintra and the palaces which was really great.
The tram system as far as I could tell was 1 euro 10 cents for any length of travel on the route 15, which for tourists was ideal. Try and see the Palace De La Pena in Sintra - it's beautiful.
As this was a competition prize we also had tickets to the semi finals of Euro 2004, Portugal V Holland. All the tourist areas were full of the Euro 2004 gifts and rubbish etc. We only had 3 nights in Lisbon but all the Portugese we met and drank with were really friendly. I have never been to Portugal before but I'm going back soon!!!
