This is a standard hotel but i think 3 star flatters it a bit. We stayed in early june 2011, we were in a studio in the area overlooking the pool, although on the first floor we still had over 50 steps to climb which was exhausting after a day in the sun, the hotel is very... more

I was here for the last 2 weeks of September. I had viewed the accommodation online, on both the First Choice website and the hotel's website and was excited at what seemed to be excellent accommodation by Greek standards. In view of this I was willing to pay a premium... more

Fantastic setting, nice people, good accommodation and food.
We were greeted on arrival by the owners Christos and Nicos and made to feel very welcome. We arrived at around 11 PM and they had the chef on stand- by to cook us whatever we wanted. Woke up the following morning, opened the doors to the balcony and we were stunned at the superb views. All the staff are friendly people and work long and hard to please the guests. The greek night (Wednesdays) was good fun and the chef did a brilliant job on the barbeque. We will definitely consider this place again.
A Great holiday
Just returned from a 2 week stay at Valtos beach, the rooms were great with a shower cubicle, our first in greece, towels and bedding changed at least every other day and really friendly owners with a delicious breakfast ,continental and bacon/sausage if required. We had a gorgeous balcony room with a sea view and a lemon tree just outside and were suitably impressed with the accomodation standard, the family are very friendly and hospitable and go out of their way to ensure your holiday is great. Air con and safety deposit boxes are free gratis and the hotel serves a high standard of meals throughout the day and evening. If you like the beach you are ideally placed within a few feet of the lapping waves. We enjoy walking and so did not mind the 10-15 min uphill struggle into parga each evening, however if you don't, taxis are apparantly plentiful if the need arises. We enjoyed walks through the olive groves and on the donkey trails, Jacki the rep has walking maps for likeminded individuals. We were very impressed with Parga, it is breathtakingly beautiful, the people are really friendly and welcoming to tourists, but most of all the standard of food quality in the restaurants we found was really high. Our favourites were Apagnio up a side street from the harbour, To Hani, Taverna Andreas, Sideris and for a very special treat Filomila at the top of the hill, although this is an upmarket italian influenced eatery. We found Parga had so much to offer particularly for us as walkers that we did not stray too far from the surrounding area, although boat trips and day visits to cultural sights were advertised by the reps and local travel agencies. We hope to return to beautiful Parga in the near future, it will certainly be hard to match it's charm.
What can i say ? Simply fabulous
One of the best bungalows-hotels i have ever been to. Whatever i say will be poor to give you a full picture of it. The rooms are great The breakfast is delicious The scenery is amazing And Parga is a city you ought to explore
Great Place
We stayed in one of the self catering apartments and were more than pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. We were greeted upon arrival by the owners taken to our apartment and introduced to the facilities. The view was stunning, with the location 50 yards to the beach. The hotel is built into a hill and sprawls amongst the local fragrant greenery , there are a few steps up to the apartments and the hotel itself and could prove difficult if you struggle on stairs. The staff were very friendly. Cleanliness was spot on. Valtos Beach Hotel is over a hill from Parga town which in high temps is a bit of a climb but should not put you off the resort. There are water taxis every half hour that run till 2300hrs and they will take you from Valtos to Parga (excellent). Valtos beach itself is better than Parga's. We would have loved to have stayed longer.
Amazing friendly place
We stayed in the hotel for two nights during first weekend of May, after visiting the hotel's web site. Good thing for us that what the website promised, it was actually more than true: great hotel at a great place serviced by excellent and friendly staff with great food. The location is great as it next to a great beach and just 10-15 minutes of walk from Parga centre or 3euro taxi ride. We could hear the waves on the ebach when goign to sleep! Rooms are spacious enough with all the important amenities and the hotel brekafast is rich both in quantity and quality. Swimming pool is on the small side but the beach is right there instead! We also tried the hotel restaurant which I can say is equally excellent (cheese with honey is a must try) with reasonable prices. I would have given it a 4 stars but I will go for five instead because I was amazed about how the brothers and the staff working at the hotel wanted everything to be perfect. They seemed to enjoy their effort to be perfect at everything. So I can only do the least thing and give them a perfect 5 star! Well done!
Brilliant!
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Valtos Beach Hotel appartments as we had read reviews on trip advisor and it was a toss up between Valtos and Parga Beach Hotel. We were greeted by Christos (one of the brothers who helps run the business) The hotel is built on several levels and we were given a room at the front which had both a pool and sea view! The rooms were very clean and we had a fridge despite being B & B. They also had free air conditioning and safety deposit boxes which cost at other hotels. The room was cleaned and fresh towels every day. I would definately say Valtos Beach is the best hotel around the area, and the staff are exceptionally friendly. It is a family run business and every effort is ensured that your stay is a good one. Valtos Beach is the last appartments nearest the path that takes you to Parga town. The path is on quite slope and they do have water taxi's running from the beach although we enjoyed the walk into parga each day as it only takes 10 minutes. On the way up you can look down at the sea, which is crystal clear. There are a few cafe/restaurants at the top of the hill which are very good for food, but we found that many restaurants were all at a good standard. I recommend visiting the bar "Avra" where we ended up most nights. It is situated just over the hill on your way down the steps into Parga. The owner is Dimitris, who makes any cocktail going and you can sit on a balcony area overlooking a small island and the sea. The only thing that shocked us a little bit were the prices of drinks. E.g a vodka/coke (reasonable measure) was 6 Euro! A typical evening meal can cost anywhere between 6 - 14 Euro. (not including drinks) Not that different from eating out in England. We would also advise checking the exchange rate before you leave as near my town it was £1 = 1.17 Euro We waited until we were in Parga and managed to get an exchange £1 = 1.27 Euro although it did drop to 1.23 whilst we were out there. I wouldn't advise withdrawing any as it was 1:1 !!! I could write lots more about about stay but I will say that the majority of people we met there it was there 3rd or 4th visit to Parga and Valtos Beach Hotel which spoke volumes and I would definately consider going again.
3rd time - still excellent!
We stayed here in 2003, 2005 and again in August 2007. We have never had cause to complain. The managers and staff are extremely friendly & nothing is too much trouble. We like the proximity to the beach but also the fact that the town is a short walk uphil (Ok, it's a hot walk uphill) or 5 minutes away by water taxi. The olive trees, flowers and shrubs are beautiful and it is lovely to see tortoises walking in the gardens. We would most definitely stay here again and again.
great place to stay
If you are considering Parga as a holiday destination then the Valtos Beach Hotel is well worth considering. Its over the hill from Parga Town, about a 20 minute walk. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the owners are very hospitable. The location is set back from the beach in a wonderful setting, ideal for a morning on the beach, a spot of lunch in the taverna, back on the beach , then a dip in the pool, what more could you ask . Plenty of tavernas besides the hotels, which is very good, in Parga. Overall for a week in the sun, fantastic
The Earth Moved for Us!!
The Valtos Beach Hotel is located at the bottom of the hill next to a busy little road, leading to the beach. This is however not a problem as the accommodation is set back far enough, which keeps noise to a minimum. The hotel is family run and the two brothers run the show to a very high standard. The hotel set on a hill side and does not have a lift - so therefore only suitable for people without walking disabilities. The food in the hotel taverna is excellent and cheaper than in Parga itself. To get to Parga entails a 15min walk up over a hill which requires good shoes, as the stone path is steep and slippery. Our stay was very good and the Hotel is kept very clean from the rooms to the pool. It location so close to the beach means that the pool area ( which is small) does not get to busy and if there no sun beds left - you can go onto the beach which is 100m away where you will find plenty of sun beds. We were there for a week and the first 5 days were great. However what happened next was not so good, By the way this is nothing to do with the Hotel as you will see. At 2100hrs we were just about to leave the room to walk up the hill to the great tavernas that look over the bay. The room started to shake violently and we suddenly realized that we were experiencing an earthquake (5.9 on the R scale). This was the most frightening experience of my life and both I and my wife ran out of our room with no clear idea of what we would do next. The Hotel to its credit suffered no structural damage, as we later found out that all building out in this area are designed to take an earthquake up to 8 on the scale. We left the Hotel in a hurry grabbing money and passports. We were reluctant to go back to the room an stayed out in the open. This was lucky as we had a second severe tremor at 0100 hrs which was a second earthquake. We did venture back to our room at 0400 hrs but we had an aftershock (1st of 10) at about 0630. My wife beat me to the door and we ended up back on the beach watching the sun come up. From that point on we stayed outside as much as possible a slept with clothes on when we did go back to the room. Now we are back and having goggled earthquake in Greece we are more that aware that this is a fairly common phenomena, which personally I could do without. Therefore we will not be going back to Parga or any other part of Greece. This of course has nothing to do with the Voltas beach Hotel and if you are planning a trip you will have a good time and I do hope the earth moves for you when you are there but not in the way it did for us.
Beautiful Views, Fab location
We stayed at the Valtos Beach Hotel June 2007 for our honeymoon. We travelled with First Choice. We had a large self catering apartment with beautiful sea views (room 144). We also found the room quiet (unlike many hotels) and it was lovely waking to hear the sound of the waves lapping. The hotel is well kept and very clean. We prefer to spend the day on the beach, which the hotel is well located for. The pool area is quite small and sometimes did get fairly busy. Though the sun beds are comfy and pool very nice. The two brothers are very friendly and helpful. This is probably the best hotel we've stayed in whilst in Greece, though we did pay quite a bit more than usual seeing as it was for our honeymoon. One word of warning. I emailed prior to arrival to see if we could have some wine/fruit in our room as a surprise for hubby (we got married the the day before arriving) I was thrilled when the reply back said yes no problem. We were very impressed, until we checked out and the bus was due to arrive in ten minutes, and we were told we owed 30 euro for the wine and fruit! So be warned! This was not mentioned when I made the request, nor at all during our 2 week stay. Bit annoying as we know many hotels do offer this for free. Anyway, aside from that, I dont think you'd be disappointed with this hotel. A 10 minute walk up a fairly step slope and steps to Parga Castle (which is well worth visiting for the views) and another 10 minutes down hill to Parga Town. We did this walk and back at least once every day and towards the end, in the heat, it was hard work! Beautiful views though and shops to look at. You can also get cabs or water taxis. Parga is a lovely town with many good restaurants and bars. We particularly enjoyed Bachos, Zorbas and Dionysus. Our favourite cocktail bar was il Posto - the cocktails are amazing! We also used the dive centre twice, which was very friendly and professional - though the shop etc may not give that impression. We went on a boat trip to Paxos, on the Queen Mary. There was no commentary so we were often wondering where exactly we were! A good day though, and Paxos is worth visiting. The train to Ali Pasha's Castle is OK, but it felt quite a long time sitting on the train, and the stop in the village felt a bit pointless. We will definately return to Parga. We had a beautiful honeymoon and it was just what we were looking for. There's plenty to do and the harbour area is great, whilst it still retains it's Greek charm. We would also return to the Valtos Beach Hotel.
