Torreblanca Hotel Fuengirola

Stayed for one week early August with two children, aged 2 and 1. On two occasions asked specific questions to receptionists. Did not know the answer to my question and made no attempt to look for an answer or help further. On our day of departure we were advised that a room would be made available to us as our flight was in the evening 2120. When asking for the room to freshen up we were told that there was no room available. Staff clearly could see two babies that had been in the sweltering heat all day. After some heated discussion a room suddenly became available. Unclean, used towels on floor, no air con. In general, staff falling over themselves to help the Spanish. Could not have been more rude to us, travelling with 2 young children and an expectant mother. On another topic - room was infested with ants. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The flight was good and the taxi ride from the plane was very smooth and the room was a quite good size and the view from the blacony was actually quite beautiful. The pool looks nice from far but at times it was a little bit dirty and the poolside was never cleaned so it was really dirty. There were a lot of shops naer the hotel though which was quite good and the train was right outside the hotel and runs very smoothly and it very punctual. We were able to get everywhere we needed to go and we didnt even here it coming and going from our room.

Just returned from a 1 week stay at this hotel. 2 adults and a 15 year old and a 7 year old. Booked last minute on lo cost hols.com.
1st tip, dont book transfers, we did and paid 68 Euros for a return private taxi, which was still very cheap, however their is a fantastic train service and the train station is literally at the back of the hotel, it costs under 2 euro to get from the airport to the hotel and the trains run every 20 mins, and are always on time. They run 7 days a week,and the last train from the airport is 22.45. Same if you want to go to Belamadina, Torremolinos etc take the train 1.5 euros return.
Back to the hotel - Very clean and spacious. We had 4 in our room, 4 good sized beds, and lots of wardrobe, drawer space etc, fully air conditioned, and nice size clean bathroom. Towels changed daily and room cleaned daily if you want.
2 good sized pools, with plenty of sunbeds, and whats good is that theres a gate that locks and is not open until 9am, so people cant reserve sunbeds, pools open until 8pm with a lifeguard on duty all the time. pool bar that serves drinks and snacks, drinks very expensive, so pop down the supermarket, and buy your own.
Breakfast is 8-10am, lucnh 12-2 and dinner 7-9pm, good sized restaurant, never had to wait. Lots of choice, breakfast - cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, meats, cheese, rolls, bread, fullenglish etc, juice, all hot drinks. Dinner, loads to choose from,soup, starters, salads, paella, lots of dishes, chips for kids, and loads of sweets. Again drinks can be bought, but were quiet expensive.
Entertainment in day for kids was ok, usually water polo, pool games, golf, ping pong etc, they win certificates which get presented at evening mini disco, starts at 9.30pm, kids games and dances, lasts 30 mins, then bingo and entertainment, flamenco dances, singers etc.
Just a 5 min walk down a steep hill to beach, bars, shops etc, use gate from pool to reduce time, opens same hours as pool 9am-8pm. Fuengirola centre is 30 min walk, or 5 mins on train, we only went once cause we didnt want clubs etc and there are shops, bars and eating place 5 mins walk away from hotel
all in all i would rate this hotel as excellent. we paid just over £1000 for 4 for a week, half board,and felt this was extremely good value. Have been to 3 star all inclusive before and we could tell the difference with this hotel, food was better, no queues etc. Would go back and highly recommend

A reasonable hotel given the money paid. The room was fairly old fashioned but very clean. Towels were changed everyday. The food wasnt great, we went out for dinner a few times to avoid eating anymore Veal. Breakfast was plain but edible.
The hotel was unfortunately filled to the brims with spanish pensioners who were unbeliveably rude. We seemed to be the only people under the age of 60 in the place. The activities were obviously targeted for the old dears so this is definetly not a hotel for children.
The situation of the hotel is good for the beach but it is a good 30 minute walk to fuengirola or about 7 euros in a taxi.
Overall a good hotel if you dont want to spend to much time in it, basic but you get what you pay for.

Very nice hotel for 3 adults cost us £900 including flights, meals are very good something for everyone, is slightly fish/veal based but chips etc for kids. we had 2 rooms one for my parents and one for me but both rooms has 3 beds so bare this in mind, my room was nearest the train station but you can't hear a thing it is really quiet(really cheap aswell i fink it was $1.60 which is about £1.20 to get you pretty much anwhere!. We fought their was one pool before we went but theres two which is great also 3areas to sunbathe, we normally chose as you come out the hotel to the right its got about 12 sunbeds so nice and relazing! Maids dont clean your room untill you put sign out even if it is 2pm!! Evening entertainment is free and worthwhile magician, bingo talent show etc! Good for families i went just before school holidays and was 75% spanish 25% english! is in the quiet end or the resort but if you go down the hill and turn rigth along the beachfront after about 20/30mins walk you reach the busier side. Hotel is clean and is having improvements when we were there. In hotel classed as 3* but locally it is a 4* on the front of the hotel it is. Hope you found this usefull!!

I booked to go with my husband and daughter 17 yrs old the hotel was clean and the maid came daily but not so early like other hotels which was good if you did'nt get up early. We could'nt get sun beds by the pool but on the 2nd week we were there they put up gates so no one could put out there towels on the sun-beds.The food was very poor it was great if you liked veal or fish nearly every day. Staff were very friendly. The hill is not not not slight you go up one turn the corner and there is another one.The train is great it only cost 1.20e to go to the marina 1.30e at the week-end.We did have a good time.If you like to have a good sunday lunch go to Pat and Adrians OPP side of the marina behind the big hotel that has a shop that sells swim suits.Also there is a lovely bar there called Toons where you can get cheap beer.Near the hotel is coast to coast where you can also get nice food.

We booked this as a last minute holiday and were very pleased with what we got. The hotel was clean and tidy with room service and clean towels every day. After reading other reviews we caught the train from Malaga airport and it was great, a 5 min walk across the road and the train stops right outside the hotel! No noise disturbance and it is cheap and very reliable.Food was good,buffet style with plenty of choice and plenty of lovely fresh fruit with breakfast and evening meal.The beach is in easy access just down the slight hill and across the road.Torreblanca is the quieter end of Fuenguirola which we liked and was a nice slow walk of about 30 mins into the main town and harbour.If you want english food the you must go in the Wessex on the front, and for good entertainment every night go in the Bacchus bar with Derek and Linda.And if your feeling really adventurous try the Paragliding with the english guys in the Karma bar on the harbour... great! If you want a relaxing holiday then go for this, not too many kids, we always managed to get a sunbed, and they have lovely gardens if you dont want to sit around one of the two pools.

We had a fantastic time here! Staff were lovely and friendly and rooms were spacious and clean (towels + beds every day) We had no complaints at all, The food was tasty and a great selection to choose from. My 3yr old son always found something to pick at and they even let us take a little fruit for him if he didnt eat much at the table which was great. Yes it is situated on a slight hill but we needed the extra exercise after all the food we ate!! We had a lovely relaxing holiday overall and really enjoyed strolling along the front after our evening meal. The train is a great way to get about and really cheap. VISITING THE ZOO IN THE TOWN CENTER IS A MUST!! stunning!! what a surprise to say the least. We will be going back at some point.

This hotel was definitely not 4* either in the rooms or in the restaurant. The food was very limited choice and not of good quality. The rooms were clean but also very basic and I would say that if, as someone has said, it has already had some recent refurbishment then it still has a long was to go for a 4*.
It was a long walk (50 mins)to the main part of the resort where the main shops were.
I know we went out of season but I would say that the average age of the couples there was 65-70 and mainly spanish. Bingo and old time dancing was the entertainment at night.
Would I go again definitely not.

Well, what a difference a year makes!
Having visited this hotel on 3 previous occasions (see my earlier review from March 2007), I have just returned again from this hotel in total amazement at the transformation that has occurred.
I wont spend much time describing the actual rooms in the hotel, since nothing has changed there. It is worth mentioning however that the rooms are of traditional style, of generous size, and with a separate lobby area. The lobby area is now fitted with a fridge, supplied free of charge, which is a nice touch. Rooms are spotlessly clean.
I was very impressed with the initial impression of the hotel, that has been partly refurbished on the ground floor and outside the entrance. I was even more impressed with the very helpful receptionist. She was extremely enthusiastic and efficient; within minutes we were in our room, having been briefed on meal times and facilities. Her English was excellent.
As described in my earlier review, meal times were the only real weakness with the hotel, and it was here that I found the most significant changes evident.
Firstly, staff were quick to clear vacated tables (so much in fact that one had to be wary leaving a plate of food to fetch a condiment, for fear of returning to an empty table!)
The food selection was a mixture of european hot and cold dishes, free of the earlier Spanish bias. There were always 2 soups on offer, several salads, and 3 or 4 hot dishes, plus a local pasta dish. Selection was greatly improved, and piping hot.
Desserts were significantly better, though mainly consisting of fresh fruits/jelly/ice cream. There were also various pastries available and yoghurts.
It was easy to find something palatable, and for the first time, we ate in the hotel every evening.
The Dining Room had been substantially refurbished, with a vibrant colour scheme together with tasteful blinds, making our dining experience more enjoyable.
My rating of the food is based on what I would reasonably expect in a 3 star hotel. (Note that the Torreblanca is described locally as a 4 star hotel).
The grounds of the hotel are still in the process of being improved.
The pool area has been cleaned up, and sunbeds were easily available.
New shrubbery has been planted (work ongoing), and it is clear that things are clearly improving. There is a large lawned area and small childrens playground.
The pools were very clean.
This time around, the clientele was still mainly in the 60+ category, though an even mix of Spanish and British guests. Many guests were on long-term stays of 3 months or more.
Entertainment during the day is rather modest; rifle shooting, card schools, boules, line dancing, tai chai, beach walks etc. Evening entertainment is lively but still biased towards the older (Spanish) clientele.
Based on this visit, and, again bearing in mind the cost of a stay at this hotel, I believe it warrants 9/10. If my current experience is representative of ongoing improvements, the hotel deserves to shake off its past reputation.
I should also add that the train station is directly behind the hotel, and from here one can easily reach the resorts of Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Malaga for just a couple of euros. Trains run every 30 minutes until 11:30 pm.
This is a superbly located hotel in the quiet resort of Torreblanca.
It occupies a commanding position over the resort.
The only negative point is the fact that it stands on a STEEP hill. It is approximately a 5 minute walk (downhill!) to the beach, where there are several small bars and restaurants. It can take considerably longer to walk back. However, a taxi is only 4 euros! Recommended bar/restaurant - "Coast to Coast" for a Sunday Roast.
It is also possible to take the train to Los Boliches (1.35 euros) where the beach is more easily accessible. Also, Los Boliches has an abundance of small local shops, restaurants and bars. Recommended bar/restaurant - "The Sandpiper" opposite the beach.
