Feb 2008, Mr M Stribling

My partner and I have stayed at the Torreblanca on several occasions, and our rating is based on amenities, facilities and value for money.
The hotel occupies a commanding position in the resort of Torreblanca, providing good views of the sea from all rooms. Rooms are extremely spacious and clean, and of traditional Spanish style and decor. This adds a quaintness to the feel of the hotel. Rooms were cleaned daily and we were always left a clean set of towels.
The clientele of the hotel is mainly Spanish, and to be fair, the hotel does cater more for their needs. Our visits confirm that most of the clientele are pensioners, many staying courtesy of the Spanish Government.
I speak a little Spanish, and found that efforts to speak Spanish (although staff can speak English) were well rewarded. I am a firm believer that "When in Rome......"
Food, in my opinion, is the only downfall with the hotel. Its fair to say that choice is rather limited and geared to Spanish tastes. Having said that, I found that breakfasts were reasonable, although evening meals often left you scratching around for something suitable. I do not believe for one moment that you should expect English fayre when in Spain (you may aswell stay at home for that), but the selection of food offered just looked unappetizing. During a weeks stay, we ate our evening meal in the hotel only twice. Fortunately, the hotel is situated close to many restaurants and bars, so eating out is easy (and cheap).
The hotel pools are clean and reasonably well maintained. I found ample sunbed availability. The grounds of the hotel are clean, although a little "tired" in places. There was evidence of some refurbishment when we last visited.
We did not stay in the hotel in the evenings and unable therefore to comment on the entertainment provided. From what we heard, there was a good level of entertainment, though with a Spanish bias.
Taking into account everything, price, location, facilities, food, I believe the Torreblanca offers exceptional value for money. Do not expect 5 star facilities or food from a hotel catering for the lower end of the market!
The hotel scores from its excellent location in peaceful surroundings, far away from the noise of the brash Torremolinos and Fuengirola resorts that tend to be frequented by the typical "good time" holidaymakers who prefer liquid meals and have no respect for anyone else.
As a further bonus, an excellent train service that runs from Malaga to Fuengirola, calls right outside the hotel. Therefore it is easy to travel to other resorts easily (even to the airport) for a couple of euros.
In my opinion, the hotel is an excellent base from which to explore the Costa Del Sol.
It offers traditional style, clean, comfortable accommodation, with a basic standard of catering. (Good breakfast/fair dinner).
You should be aware that the hotel sits on a hill, a steep one at that. This may be of significance to some potential visitors. However, the train station is located right outside the hotel, so it is possible to take a train to Los Boliches, where the beach can be accessed more easily.
This was our third visit.

I read the other reviews and I agree with some comments and not with others.
Against:-
The hill is, as others have said, a bit of a slog, and not for those for whom walking uphill is a bad experience. It is an effort.
Apart from a few English owned bars and restaurants, there isn't that much at the Torreblanca end of the strip. Fuengirola is great, at the other end.
The toaster in the dining room is like an electric fire on it's side. Primitive, awkward and it takes ages.
Only BBC1, if you're into watchingf TV from home.
For:-
The rooms are large, clean and functional. And a real sized bath!
The food is plentiful with lots of choice. I've seen some people complain here about the food. I think that's a bit mean as there was always a choice of 4 or 5 different main courses in the buffet style dinner. Okay, it's not the Ritz, but plenty of good stuff.
THe train station. The fact that the hotel has practically it's own train station is a massive plus as you can get to/from the airport, to/from Fuengirola and Torremolinos for 1.70 Euros (2.60 at weekends) Very important as I said there isn't that much in Torreblanca.
The pool looked nice but it was FEb so i wasn't going to try it.
I can't comment on the inhouse entertainment other than to say it sounded lively and busy. The thought of staying in the hotel being "entertained" when you've got the great towns of Fuengirola to the west and Torremolinos to the east would not occur to me.

Sep 2007, Mrs S Davenport

There are two swimming pools, not overly big though. We went to the beach most mornings and never had a problem getting a sunbed.
The hotel had entertainment for children his name was Pepe, he encouraged the children to all mix together and run good entertainment for kids and adults alike.
The staff here are friendly, and polite.
There is a train at the back of the hotel which we found very handy getting around. The food was OK. The evening meals were worse. We had maid service daily.
This hotel is situated in a very good location.
We had a veranda which was lovely as we had a drink there every night before we got dressed to go out.
This is not the most fanciest place, but especially if you have children its quite good.

Jul 2007, Miss D.A Allahverdi

The Torreblanca hotel is a fantastic hotel. It has everything for the kids and adults. The food was delicious and very well presented. It has a souvenir shop, club, entertainment every night and a hairdresser. It's about 2 minutes to the beach and has a train station (Torreblanca) right beside it. You can also walk to the city centre and there are tons of shops and restaurants on the main road. It was fantastic!!!

Jun 2007, Mrs M Crisp

We must admit we were pleasantly surprised. We were offered a room on the first floor which was facing the sea. The room was quite spacious and we were well satisfied.
Cleaner called every day and we were supplied with clean towels every day (which you don't get in most hotels) bed linen changed twice a week. Cleaners and staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
The location of the hotel was quite good. good views only downside it was on a slight incline which didn’t bother us. Most nights we walked down and taxied back from the front. It only costs 6 Euros and was worth it. Train station not very far from the back of the hotel (no noise or disturbance) which stopped at all destinations to Malaga airport and very reasonably priced.
Two good size pools which were kept clean (plenty of free sunbeds) and a very nice garden area (with sunbeds).
On the whole the food wasn't too bad Breakfast was quite good something to suit all nationalities. Dinner again wasn't bad except it was mainly veal, pork and fish but there again there was something to suit everybody. One shouldn't expect to be served roast beef and Yorkshire pudding abroad.
One thing should be addressed is the dress code. Notices were posted at the entrance to the dining room specifying people should not wear shorts or beach wear to dinner but most guests turned up in the beach wear they had on for breakfast and all day.
We had a room on the first floor facing the sea. I wouldn't suggest going higher as there were only 2 lifts serving 9 floors and they were always full coming down. Lots of Spanish guests but that didn't bother us
All in all very good value for the price paid. We would certainly go again.

Jun 2007, Mrs S Atkins

This is our 3rd visit to Hotel Torreblanca, Spain, the hotel itself is very clean and the staff very helpful.
Tthe food has not been as good as previous times especially for a 4* hotel, I feel that the rating for the food is 2 - 3*.
This hotel is set on a hill but the best part of it there is a train station at the back of the hotel, which run on a regular basis and does not cost much per person, nor do you get any noise from the trains it is a great way to get round.
I do believe that the hotel just do accommodation ideal place to stay as there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area and good value for money.
The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, but the hotel has two pools that have been modernised, plenty of sunbeds and brollies.

This hotel is a very good three star,...
7 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr M Johnson

This hotel is a very good three star, old quality three star not new ratings which are inevitably two or less, which advertises as a four star hotel.
It is clean, welcoming and a minute or two from Torreblanca railway station which is on the direct line from Malaga airport to Fuengirola. Big plus as it was only 2.60 Euros for both of us from the airport. Also a nice ride into central Fuengirola with a nice long walk back along the front.
We were given a spacious room with sea view on the fourth floor which was spot on any higher and the lifts would have been a problem at meal times however we walked down and rode back up. Full bathroom with bidet and shower.
TV (included) with BBC1 and Sky News. Air-conditioning and safe. Large gardens with two pools and free sunbeds.
Entertainment was basic but the guy worked hard. Bar prices were reasonable for a hotel.
The only downside was the food. Breakfast was fine but dinner catered more for the Spanish guests. To be honest we eat most things but struggled on a couple of evenings to find anything remotely tasty to eat. Mainly veal, pork and lots of fish. We never had a problem getting a table and the waiters were great.
Wine decent at 6 Euros a bottle. It seems a bit snobby but there was no dress code for dinner and some guests turned up at breakfast in the same vest and shorts that they wore for dinner the previous night!!
Definitely something that needs to be addressed if the hotel wants to say it is 4 star. We think it is not suitable for children from UK generally they might have a real problem finding things to eat on an evening.
Having said all that we enjoyed our stay at the Torreblanca and will return. For what we paid through Wintersunshineholidays on the net we could most definitely not complain even though we have about the food.
We went to Gibraltar for the day through the local travel agent on the front. 14 Euros each for express travel both ways left at 9.45 got back at 6.20 had five hours in Gib great day out.
Use the newsagent at the bottom of the hill just off the roundabout, been there 24 years and is cheaper for booze and cold drinks for the beach than anywhere.
We can recommend the hotel as a good base for an excellent holiday.

May 2007, Mr V Atkins

I must admit I wasn’t expecting much, but the rooms were good and the food ok.
It was the area surrounding the hotel which was lovely and the beach was one of the best I have ever been on, with loads and loads of space (not too bad on a Sunday either).
When I go on holiday I like to eat out a lot and there were loads of restaurants to choose from.
You can make your holiday as noisy or as quiet as you like the further you walk up to Fuengirola. Half way from Torreblanca (which is quiet) is Los Boliches which is also unspoilt with loads of back st bars and eateries.
Then 2 miles from the hotel is Fuengirola which caters for the 18-40s with night clubs and loud music. In Fuengirola is the port area and fish ally which is for people who want to go out for something to eat, which is away from the loud bars.
We also went the other way in a taxi (15 Euros) to the port of Benalmadena which is really nice.
Getting back to the hotel, it was a little tired but ok for somewhere to have a sleep and breakfast in the morning, and the pools were good, and without the surrounding area I would rate this a 6/10, but overall I say it’s a great place for a holiday and
I had a great time and I am going to try the Fuengirola Park hotel this year.

Oct 2006, Mr A Withall

This is by no means a 4 star hotel.
If you like a holiday with a hotel full of noisy Spanish pensioners who seem to take over everything then this may be for you. All entertainment is geared for Spanish visitors.
Even something as stupid as a game of bingo was in Spanish language first, if they called house before any English people had heard there numbers, the Spanish would win?

Jan 2006, sheena

I stayed in this hotel the first week in dec 2005 and when I came back I read the reviews on it and nothing has changed in the hotel at all what the bad reviews has said. The only thing I will say is that I will never ever stay there again or even recommend it to anyone.
Two most appalling things of it was (1) My partner & I had to eat out every night even though it was supposed to be half board, the food was absolutely terrible. (2) From the time we arrived and until the time we left not one of the staff spoke to us, if we had been Spanish we would have been ok as 95% of the people that was staying there were Spanish o a p and the staff spoke & laughed with them all the time.
What we did find out though was that the Spanish government give their o a p`s 4 weeks paid holiday each year in Spain’s hotel’s and this hotel is 1 of them, please don’t get me wrong I respect every o a p.

Well, we had our Christmas in the...

Dec 2005, mick72

Well, we had our Christmas in the Torreblanca Hotel and I have to say that we were somewhat disappointed. The room was excellent, 8th floor overlooking the sea with a view from Torrequebrada in the east to the Sohaili Castillo in the west. Cleaned every day towels changed daily bed linen three times a week. The food was the problem. Breakfast was hard boiled or scrambled eggs, sausages and beans and Spanish bacon, all rather cold. Fried eggs and grilled tomatoes once a week.
Evening meals were a little better but poor variety of choice. We are not fussy eaters so we managed O.K. but for this hotel to advertise itself as 4 star is a bit of a liberty. The staff are all extremely pleasant and friendly. T.V. in the room with BBC 1 and Sky news and CNN. Two lifts serve this large hotel and broke down frequently, but were put right promptly.
We were in this hotel in 2000 and 2002 and it was far better then, but as I feared it was taken over by Medhotels as was the Fuingerola Park and has gone downhill since. We won’t go there again.

Sep 2005, Miss N Taylor

This hotel looks dirty from the outside and is not that clean on the inside to. No one welcomes you and the hotel as a lot of Spanish over 60s staying there who do speak to you at all. The rooms are small and horrible the beds are uncomfortable to sleep in. The hotel it self is on a big hill and you have to cross a main road to get to the beach. The staff are not friendly only if your Spanish and there is no entertainment for the English only for the Spanish. The pool steps need fixing as there lose . I will never go back again
