This was our first trip to Turkey and it exceeded our expectations by far. We were unfortunately delayed for eight hours at Gatwick, but the grief was soon forgotten when we opened the door to our apartment the next morning and saw our first glimpse of the little paradise... more

I can’t praise Tapestry highly enough for the way they looked after us when we visited the uncommercial village of Ocakkoy, near Fethiye, Turkey in September 2003. From the moment we stepped off the plane, a Tapestry rep was there with bottles of water and Turkish... more

The service started as soon as you stepped off the plane and onto the transfer coach. A bottle of water and Turkish delight was handed to you. The resort of Okkacoy was lovely. Little cottages on a wooded hillside halfway between Fethiye and Olu Deniz. The staff,... more

change of direction or were we unlucky?
Most of the previous reviews mention how relaxing the village is, and for most of the time that was our experience. However, the hotel took a booking for 20/30 childeren on a school trip, supervised by 3 adults. Most of the children were located in the apartments and rooms which are located by the adult pool, and we happened to be staying in an apartment. We came back early in the afternoon to find that the children had taken over the place, running backwards and forwards through the gounds and playing ball etc We immediately asked to be moved and there was no problem with this, and we were put into a cottage at the top of the village, so that we would be away from the noise. The staff offered to move our things for us. The children stayed for 4 days and although the following days were not quite as bad there were a few grumbles around the adult pool. Despite this we still enjoyed our holiday. The staff are excellent and nothing is to much trouble, they dealt with our complaint well.
Loved it!
We have now been to Occakoy with Tapestry Holidays three times. It is an absolute gem. The location is a little tucked away, but that is what makes it so special. Occakoy is very spread out and as you walk through the pathways surrounded by flower and fruit tee filled gardens, you can even pick your own figs and apricots on the way to the pool! There is a ten minute stroll through the forest to get to the main road where you can pick up a local dolmus. A torch is provided for very dark return treks! Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Occakoy - Jamil is the local taxi driver, although some times he gets a bit busy. The cottages and rooms are all furnished in traditional style and have everything you need, although the wardrobe space is a little limited. Breakfast is served in a lovely restaurant overlooking the valley and usually consists of freshly prepared omelettes, fruits, yoghurt, breads, the usual cold meats, cheeses, olives, etc. The staff in the restaurant and at Occakoy itself are very friendly and helpful. There are two main pool areas, one adult only and very quiet, the other being the general pool which is for families and to be quite honest, this is the best area as it never seems to get busy at all. A local couple pass by each day whilst taking their goats up the mountain. I think the lady is around 80 and her husband 85! If you want peace and quiet, but like a bit of noise when you choose, Occakoy is the ideal place. We loved it the first time we went and have met people who have been there many times before, each time we have been back. Although we try to keep it our secret - too late now though!
