Ocakkoy Holiday Village

This was our first trip to Turkey and it exceeded our expectations by far. We were unfortunately delayed for eight hours at Gatwick, but the grief was soon forgotten when we opened the door to our apartment the next morning and saw our first glimpse of the little paradise that is Ocakkoy Village. This property is well maintained , everybody does their bit to keep it looking beautiful and welcoming, from the gardeners to the house keeper Latife.
There is a delicious buffet style breakfast each day, bread, preserves, yoghurt, fruits, cereals, and a small selection of hot dishes too. The staff are all welcoming and friendly, we got on especially well with Sefer and Mojo, who are particularly helpful and charming.
The food served in the restaurant is scrumptious. I am a veggie, so was a bit concerned about having a varied diet in Turkey, but they have loads of delicious dishes for both vegetarians and carnivores, I would advise you to check your veggie orders though, as there was a little confusion a couple of times during our stay, which was quickly resolved.
Our host, Sara, has lived in Fethiye for five years and is married to a local, so she is very knowledgeable about the resort and happy to help with any requests or questions.
Burhan, the tour guide is fabulous, with a vast knowledge of Turkish history, he makes the jaunts (we did the Fethiye market/Turkish bath and Saklikent Gorge jaunts and found them great value for money including a three course lunch), very enjoyable.
Ocakkoy is a relaxing, tranquil spot, it is good for both couples and families as there is an adult’s only area, which was very desirable for us as we had had a hectic six months and wanted some peace and quiet. Being a complementary therapist myself I was most impressed to find a resident therapist, Haydar, who trained in Australia, Thailand and the U.K, he practises Shiatsu, Thai massage and aromatherapy, I highly recommend him as did three other guests who have been returning to Ocakkoy for several years.
We fell in love with Ocakkoy,( so much so that my partner purchased me an engagement ring from the Fethiye gold centre!), and we hope to get married there next year! In fact, part of me didn’t want to write this review as we want to keep it as our special place!!
