More interested in money than hospitality.

I haven't stayed here at the Lawns hotel but when I tried to make a booking for the coming weekend, the man on the phone refused the booking as he only wanted to rent a room for a minimum of 4 nights! Their website quotes a rate of 1-3 nights at £28pp and 4-5 nights at £25pp. As I only wanted to book for Saturday and Sunday, he said it's a waste of money as EVERYONE wants only 1 night and that he'd rather not lose out on the money. My question was: wouldn't it make sense to take a booking for 2 nights instead of the 4 as 2 nights money is more money than having the room empty for 4 nights (thus making no money). He said he'll get enough passing trade so it wont go empty but with that attitude - I'll never stay there!!! He eventually said he'd be happy for me to pay for 3 nights, even if I only want to stay for 2... gee thanks. I guess it's up to you.... staying at a B&B where people enjoy what they do or funding the lives of money grabbers knowing you can only be a guest on their terms and conditions!!

I do sympathise with your TripAdvisor member having such difficulty in locating accommodation for one of our busiest bank holidays on the Isle of Wight. Our policy has always been the same during bank holidays. I do understand the gentlemen’s frustration, it not being easy to find accommodation but he must bear in mind that we are running a business and we would like to remain in business and yes we do have terms and conditions. That’s why we have such a good reputation. I find the gentlemen’s comments not only to be distorted in fact but find his opinion unjust. I would like to invite him/her or anyone else reading this comment to my hotel where I can give them my visitors/comments book that will prove just how good our reputation is.

We had the last room in this hotel, myself, daughter in law and granddaughter on B&B basis and we stayed two nights. I wish it had been more. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, comfy beds plus bunk bed. Usual H&C. facility, bathrooms adjacent (all en-suite were taken)... more
