Hylatio Tourist Village Reviews
" OK but nothing startling "
Submitted By: Hot2TrotTwo things spoilt our holiday, one was at Perrys taverna in Pissouri Bay where the owner screamed at his staff from start till finish, everyone in the place was embarrassed by it, and I heard that it wasn`t the first time.
The other thing is the timeshare touts on Paphos harbour, they hassled us continually while we walked along and then got abusive when we said we realised they were timeshare touts.
Advice: A good base, see both Pissouri village and Pissouri Bay and then head off into the mountains
Activities: Curium (the beach and the archeological site)

" Just returned from a week at the... "
Submitted By: Ms G O''DonoghueThe main point i want to make which for me is important, was that the accommodation was extremely clean, the maid called in six out of the seven days. The guests were mainly English.
Down side not anything drastic but worth a mention should the owners read this:
(1) the food at the hotel, is not great, i wouldn't bother eating there, although breakfast is ok, within a short distance (take a torch) there are restaurants along the main road and overlooking the stone/sandy beach, the local Indian is not bad, also Perry's was great, we were made a fuss of us and given free drinks at the end of the evening;
(2) tea and coffee cups or glasses were not cleared regularly from around the pool, sometimes they would be left all day, it was never that many but these small details should be addressed; and lastly,
(3) I was not overly keen on the owner, he's sort of ok, but not very approachable, he spent most of his day walking around in his vest, he really should take more pride in his appearance and make the effort to dress up, or get dressed, or just look smart, he has a lovely holiday site, and a great collection of affordable clean accommodation and should regard it with more pride then he does.
Flew out with a Cypriot air line, it was great, lovely wide leather seats plenty of leg room, returned with Monarch squashed in like sardines on dirty seats, got quite claustrophobic on the returned journey, I'm 5'3 and couldn't move my legs, dreadful experience.

" We went to the Hylatio resort for two... "
Submitted By: Miss C CooperThe pool is large and clean and there is plenty or room for people to sunbathe by it, with umbrellas available for shade.
The beach is not far away and is part sand part shingle but very nice. The restaurants are all very much the same as each other with the exception of a couple (we would recommend the Indian in particular), so the food can get a bit boring if you are there for two weeks. However if you like seafood then you will be fine as there is a large choice of seafood available.
The staff at the Hylatio (with the exception of Victoria the rep) are not very friendly and we found the owner to be quite rude. He appeared to make a fuss of his favourite guests and ignore everyone else.
We were also not told that there was a charge for air conditioning until the end of the two weeks, therefore we had to pay 170 euros when we checked out which we thought was disgusting. To add insult to injury the air conditioning doesn't even work very well, so really isn't worth the money so beware of that.
Overall an excellent holiday and despite the staff and the air conditioning we really enjoyed ourselves and were very sad to leave. For such a cheap price the resort was excellent and we would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone who was after a quiet relaxing holiday.

" Have just returned from a fantastic... "
Submitted By: Mr Colin McDonaldThe Holiday Village name is a bit misleading as this is really a group of studios and apartments set in lovely gardens surrounding a wonderful, large kidney shaped pool. There is also a lovely restaurant, nice pool bar, large reception area and mini market which caters for your day to day needs.
Everything was very nice and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and very colourful at this time of year. We were there as a family of four with the two of us and our 17 year old son and 15 year old daughter. Both of them thoroughly enjoyed the Hylatio and had great fun in the pool. Pissouri Beach itself is a quiet area, but is being developed and is popular with older British people who have moved to the area. There are lots of nice restaurants (the Vine Leaf and Captain's Bay were ones we particularly enjoyed), but no nightlife (much to our relief).
The old village is lovely and has some great restaurants around the village square (the Bunch of Grapes is fantastic). We hired a car and visited the Troodos mountains (fantastic day out) and other great sights. Cyprus is a lovely country and very hot in July, but would definitely visit both the Hylatio and Cyprus again.

" Went as a lone parent with two... "
Submitted By: Ms G SuttonThe pool was excellent and the surroundings so safe & secure for children that age. We hired a car and travelled around however every day all the children wanted to do was return to the pool.
Even though there were other people around the pool was big enough that all the kids could have fun without getting in the way of the adults.
All the staff were excellent. The maids were friendly and helpful. The food at the pool bar was always hot & fresh with adaption’s made for the kids.
My family are already looking forward to returning.

" We had a really good time at the... "
Submitted By: Miss S.A PalmerThe staff were friendly and the pool was great because it was massive! The area was however a bit dull especially for teenagers, there was not a lot to do without a car, and the only bar was the one in the tourist village apart from the restaurants. Lots of nice restaurants catering for everyone, some of us were vegetarian and we had no problems.
The beach was ok, quite deep water so tricky to swim with small children, better beaches we found at Paphos, but it was a great holiday.

" The two week holiday was fantastic.... "
Submitted By: Mrs S CollinsEveryone speaks English and communication is not an issue for Cyprus in general. If you are gong for two weeks you will need a car, cheaper booking there rather than from the UK.
Cyprus is a little expensive, but go to the main supermarkets not your local ones as you will spend the earth. We took tin and packet food with us and cooked now and then which helped out with the cost. You will need swimming shoes for the beach as its all pebbles. Great views although slightly baron at times.
I we totally give the thumbs up for Hylatio, the staff, cleaners, gardener, chef, barman/lady and management are great people. We are missing Hylatio already!

" Clean friendly and laid back.... "
Submitted By: Mrs L HarriottThe meals we had in the bar were cheap and well presented and the evening meals in the restaurant were delicious and served very professionally.
The complex is well situated for the beach or local walks. We found the pool clean and well maintained every day as were the gardens and grounds. There is a tennis court, we did not use it but saw others doing so. There are some new buildings going up on site but there was never any noise or mess to interfere with guests.
We would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone and have booked to return next May ourselves.

The rep was clueless. She had no ida where the health centre or hospital was and had to be asked a couple of times before she found the information. Her view was that "with the best will in the world she can't know everything".The pharmacy was closed for the week and expecting any help from the tour company with the infection aquired on holiday was met with rudeness. The rep encourages car hire to be through Olympic at an unbelievable cost - around 140 euros for three days. 70 euros for one day! Stories of lack of insurance on cars by other operators are naturally to ensure you pay their high prices. Outside the village expect to pay a fortune for taxis (no bus) I paid 7 euros to go around 400 yards!
This together with 10 hour flight delay on the way out. No wheelchair help on return despite it having been ordered mean that I have decided to stay put in future.
Advice: Have plenty of money, be able bodied and don't get ill.
Activities: None,
