We have stayed at the Dart Marina several times and have loved it. In fact we have recommended it to friends and family. So I report perhaps through rose tinted glasses despite having had to complain about the room and restaurant service in previous years. The manager was... more

I had a great stopover at the Dart Marina Hotel and Spa in December 07 and wanted to share my experience. I was greeted and treated with a genuinely helpful approach from the staff and my room was very clean, fresh and had modern furnishings. The hotel is in an envious... more

A truly exceptional hotel experience. I have just returned from my stay at The Dart Marina Hotel & Spa, a stunning place with its own marina, situated in the truly beautiful location of Dartmouth. I’ve had such a lovely stay with them from ‘check-in’ to... more

Excellent as always!
We have been using this hotel for the past 7 years and with each returning visit the improvements are evident. Dartmouth is a great place to visit to sail or simply relax and this hotel can help in both respects. It is located on the marina as the name would suggest with ample parking. The rooms have a great view out across the estuary. The restaurant, bistro, pampering (so I am told!) are all excellent. The staff are a compliment to there employers. The rooms have balconies, and are spacious and extremely clean. All are furnished to a very high standard. There are no reasons NOT to recommend this place, but... If there is a complaint, then it is that in the 7 years we have been visiting it has understandably got expensive. It is shame as for economic reasons the visits to the Dart Marina will be far less regular.
Modern, relaxing waterside weekend retreat
A wonderful modern, classy hotel with tasteful boutique style interior. Muted tones, classy rooms, tasteful bathrooms. Modern, clean spa area small with perfectly formed small gym. Good breakfast. A fresh modern hotel. We have been twice and are going again. A perfect weekend retreat on the river.
Suberb time had by all
My birthday treat and being very fussy it had to be a good one. Saw the Dart Marina website and was impressed but I have fallen for well issued web sites before so I held back my feelings until I saw the place. From arriving at this superbly postioned hotel to leaving we were so very well looked after. Genuinely interested staff who have been well trained and know what their visitors want. On checking in we were offered a welcome drink, given our car park pass ( In Dartmouth the car park alone is worth a kings ransom). We were offered advice on where to go on our stay, all the details of the Hotels and Spas services and made to feel very special. Our room on the second floor was stunning in a contempary style, ensuite and with a living area also but more than that was the view of the marina and river Dart that caught your eye all the time thru the large windows...Awesome view. They say don't ask for a river view because all their rooms have one!! The bar prices were surprisingly competitive, there was a pub they owned attached called the Floating Bridge but we did not go in there . The Wildfire Bistro look fanatasic and my wife had a great treatment in the spa also at comptitive prices. We ate in the River Restraunt and to me it was top class cuisine and the Chocolate Fondant was to die for. They do some good packages and offers out of peak season including DB&B deals..talking of breakfast I did not eat again for 9 hours I was so full and it was hot and fresh and not greasy in any way. Leaving was so hard to do and next time I will stay longer..Dartmouth is a lovely place and not a fast food joint in sight. We were made welcome everywhere we went and cannot wait to return. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try it is such good value for money with great service.
Outstanding Devon hotel with no chintz in sight
18 - 20 January 08. Chose this hotel based on tripadvisor reports and an a very good offer from Travelzoo. Stayed in this hotel about 25 years ago and what a transformation!! The setting is still outstanding, directly on the river overlooking the Higher Ferry and a short walk into town. We stayed in one of the 2-bed apartments (109) which was wonderful, on 2 floors, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and a lovely lounge/ kitchen and a further shower room on the second floor. All the rooms are very contemporary and luxurious with high quality fittings throughout. The lounge has an open fireplace, flat screen TV and DVD and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. We did not use the spa but the pool/ steamroom and gym are very nice. We just wished we could have stayed longer! We were on a DBB basis and the food in the river restaurant in the evening was top quality with a good wine list. Breakfast was equally good with large continental selection (freshly baked pastries were a real treat) and full english. The service from everybody in the hotel and restaurant was excellent, very personal and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and we felt very well looked after. Definitely a place we will go back to. Only one small suggestion - it would be even better if the evening meals could also be taken at the Wildfire Bistro, we felt that we would have liked to eat there on one of the evenings.
A Wonderful Place, even in the rain !!
This was my third stay at Dartmouth Marina hotel and each time I stay there it just gets better. We chose to stay in one of the apartments this time. From arrival to departure it was brilliant, despite the rain and gail force winds in the Dart Estuary ! The apartments are very luxurious while being warm and cosy. After a long, tough walk over in Kingswear, we snuggled up on the sofa with the fire roaring and a dvd on the box and ordered some room service. We deserved it ! Even the room service food was as good as the hotel restaurant food, top quality ! The staff as always, were polite, helpful and very cheerful. It's a pleasure to go to Dartmouth, and even more of a pleasure to stay in such a wonderful hotel. Keep up the good work Dart Marina Hotel.
excellent food very friendly Hotel with attentive staff
Jan 3rd 2008 for 3 nights. Excellent food - both dinners and breakfast in the main restaurant - don't miss them. Very helpful staff and comfortable Hotel Thoroughly recommend for a relaxing break. Superior room was spacious with new fixtures and large comfortable bed.
Pleasant stay
Stayed in the self catering apartments which are part of the hotel. The accommodation was spacious, clean and well equipped. The hotel staff were efficient and pleasant. We ate in the bistro one night and the food and service was excellent although the wine was a bit pricey. The other night we ate at the Royal Castle hotel and the food was equally as good. The breakfast at the hotel looked excellent although we took a cheaper option and ate at the Barista cafe in Foss Street which was very good. Overall a very enjoyable stay and good value. Excellent accommodation, location and service.
Absolute perfection
A fantastic stay in superb location. This hotel now offers everything you could possibly desire for a wonderful break at any time of year. Contemporary styled rooms with quality fittings and bed linen, stunning apartments, wonderful food both in the restaurant and the fabulous Wildfire bistro, excellent staff everywhere, attentive, efficient and friendly. Spa with wide range of treatments, small yet perfectly formed pool and gym. Stunning location right on the banks of the River Dart and only a five minute walk into the charming town.......in fact why am I telling you all of this? ...... Anything this good should be kept a secret!!!!!!
Very noisy and very disappointed
One thing to consider at this hotel is any room that faces the river be prepared for considerable noise from the 'bistro' below. Although it's referred to as a bistro in reality it's a pub/club and on the Friday and Saturday (I suspect these are the busiest nights) and the music pounded away well into the early hours with everyone congregated in the smoking area outside below the rooms. All well and good if you are up for a party but not so good if you just want to chill out for a couple of nights. I ended up giving up trying to sleep and got dressed and went for a walk at 1:30 am. The service on the whole was very good although when I arrived I was told that the spa area was shut and the receptionist pointed at the sign on the desk as if I should have known it was there!!! The restaurant service was excellent although the food and the wine are expensive for what you get, I recognised a 3 for £10 wine from the off licence being sold for around £18.00. I really get the feeling with this hotel that they are trying and certainly charging for something that they are not and the noise level really capped the whole experience off. Would suggest either the Royal Castle if you have to be central Dartmouth or to really chill out in a log fired Devonian hotel try the Watermans Arms just out of Totnes about 10 miles away.
Wonderful weekend
My wife and I decided to get away for a quick break to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and found this hotel through a number of sites. The comments on Trip Advisor made us pick this from other similar hotels, and we booked for four nights from 11th to 15th October. We could find very little to fault at all - we had a wonderfully relaxing weekend. We had meals on three nights in the hotel and could not fault the food or wine. Breakfast too was very good - a slightly different take on the good old English breakfast. The restaurant staff were very helpful in finding us a table for Saturday night in Dartmouth, which was very useful as we had happened to be there at the time of the Dartmouth Food Festival and spaces were at a premium. Our garden room overlooked the estuary, and despite being next to the car park, was very quiet and private. The room was nice and large, and again could not be faulted. The only minor issue is that the hotel is next to one of Dartmouth's ferries, which does create a bit of noise. However, like most things you quickly get used to it and it did not intrude at all. Watching the boats come and go, and the steam trains running along the opposite side of the estuary, also added to the charm of the place. We both used the Spa, which again was very good, with a lovely relaxing feel. We would certainly return at some stage!
