We stayed here as a last minute deal, had no high expectations, was expecting it to be really basic. I was pleasantly surprised. The Hotel was clean and well run, the staff were pleasant and after a couple of days they recognise your face and your drinks order. The hotel is predominately German speaking, but as unlike the British they usually speak English and I often had lengthy chats about football!
The food here was excellent. Breakfast was a bit boring, but lunch was great, I recommend the tradition Turkish flatbread with spicy beef in the pool side bar. Suppers were always good with grilled meats, fish and kebabs and if that's not you thing the usual spag bol and such was on offer. We also had a great meal in the Italian Restaurant. As I was there in winter we had 4 days of rain but this still was probably the best holiday I have ever had, it even beat my Florida holiday from earlier that same year.
Over all a hidden gem, If you dont like this place you will be the classic little englander!

this is the second time i have been to this resort and have booked for a third time for 2009. fantastic value for money but would agree with other comments made on this forum that there are a number of germans but the ones that i spoke to were very polite and in there own way quite funny.what people have to understand that the turkish people second langauge is germen not english but the staff are getting better at speaking english. some of the waiters are slow to serve the english and serve the germans quicker but the germans tip the staff day by day where as us english tip at the end of the holiday. but a polite word with the owner or duty manager soon sorts out this problem. so i would push any doubts to one side and book the alba. also the alba queen and alba royal looks wicked but have been told it is for the older generation with children over 12 years.

Hi,
I have just returned from the Alba Resort after two weeks of fun in the sun!
I must say that there is a lot to recommend this hotel, however there is no way it is of 5 star standard and in my opinion struggles to reach 4 stars. There are many pros and cons see below.
Pros:
A fantastic animation team, there is something going on all of the time but they do not pressure you to get involved if you just want to lay by the pool.
The hotel is absolutely spotless, cleaning seems to go on 24 hours!
Evening entertainment is a bit hit and miss but on the whole fairly good
The hotel has a great kids club that runs all day and early evening, shame they don’t speak more English, having said that my daughter enjoyed it although didn’t use it every day.
The beach is excellent although the water gets deep quck and then shallows again.
Watersports are great value for money
Rooms spotless if dated.
Cons:
Queuing there are queues for everything in the restaurant – It is just not big enough. I have been to 5 other 5 star all inclusives but have never had to Queue like that.
Waiter service in the restaurants is slow but good natured
The area round the pool is breaking up and in dire need of replacing
Pool towels are not up to 5 star standards
There are tiles missing off the bottom of the pool
Rooms dated and small
The slides are rough on the joins my kids and I all skinned toes etc on the joins
All in all we had a good holiday but please be aware that if you have been to 5 star elsewhere you are likely to be disappointed. Expect 3+/4 star and you will love it!
Just one warning:
There is no shallow area in either pool it is 1.5 metres deep all round The only option is the baby pools.

PLEASE READ THIS FOR GOOD INFORMATION TO THE ENGLISH!!
We returned on Friday 22nd August 2008 with a fantastic tan.
This resort is beautiful and spotlessly clean but unfortunately the majority of the staff preferred every other nationality apart from the British. It was mainly Germans and this is mentioned by many other people on the holiday watch dog reports but of course you have to find out for yourself.
We learn't that if we tipped the staff early on into the holiday we would then get the same standard of service as the Germans but in my opion that's the wrong way around you should tip for good service if received.
The maids cleaned the room every day to a high standard and the mini fridge was replenished every day with bottled water and mixer drinks.
The food in the restaruant totally blow us away for the first week but then it became very boring as once again it was mainly catering for the Germans and their taste is totaly different to ours. Like their greed for the sunbeds they are the same with their food, very pushy whether you have a hot meal in your hands or not.
I know this all sounds very critical against the Germans but I personally haven't experienced it to this level before and I have been traveling abroad with my family for 15yrs now..
They claim their sunbeds around 7am(cos I got up once and tried it)1 member per family will sit at about 6 beds until the time allowed to leave them then they disapear until when ever. I made the mistake ONCE of clearing their beds because no-one had returned for about 2hrs and oh my god did I know about it, they ranted and raved at me in their language, throwing in an occassional English word so to let me know of their annoyance. That word being THIEF.
The animation team were very good but because it was an international resort everything was drawn out because of all the different languages having to be spoken to explain the entertainment. This finished at 11pm and the bar connected to it closed at 12pm leaving only the night club which I thought "Oh great" but oh no this was taken over by the teenagers and as I have a 15yr old daughter that was great for her but all there was left for myself and my husband was a 24 hr loby bar. Don't get me wrong we had a few nights propping the bar up but you could do that at your local at home.
When I go on holiday just once a year I like lots of fun, well personally this place at night went to sleep too soon for us( and we're in our 40's not 20's).
In the day if you can get a sunbed its brill you can have fun round the busy pool with the animation team or chill around the lazy pool where at around 4pm the staff come round with afternoon treats like melon or turkish bread or even a cup of tea.
Make your own minds up for yourselves but personally speaking this is not an English resort...Good luck and feel free to give me your opion...Kim

we had are best family holiday ever! we have been all inclusive before but this holiday was out of this world! you definately get 5* treatment! you get your room cleaned & clean towels & your mini bar topped up every day! the hotel is spotless the staff & security are fantastic you can eat & drink 24 hours a day if you you want too! the swimming pools are great you have a quiet pool & a fun pool with 2 slides, games,& music! there is plenty to do day & night! there are 5 different places to eat, the 2 pool bars each do a different variety of food, and the main restaraunt which has a fantastic variety every day! it even caters for kids & diabetics! the fish & italian restaraunts you can go to once a week they are both are 5 courses each! so wear something baggy! the only down side we found was the breakfast as they tend to cater for the germans so dont expect your bacon, sausage & black pudding! but apart from that i would recomend the alba to anybody! thankyou to all the staff for a great tme!

First time i had been to this hotel in June 2008, and it was Fantastic ..Really enjoyed it. Just about eveything about the hotel was Perfect, the Animators were really friendly and always had time for us, and the shows were good, although one or two were not English. The maids at the hotel, i must have to say made my room lovely everyday, some days my room was a mess, and i would come in after they had been and it was like a total different room.
The beach was beautiful, and the facilities at the hotel were just brilliant. The one problem about the hotel was the Bar staff at the Entertainment Pool Bar, most of the time they just ignored the English, which was quite annoying, but other then that it was fantastic. Thank you x

Fantastic Holiday. My first time to Turkey and will definatley go again. The alba resort was clean and tidy and the hotel staff were very helpful. The meals were fantastic with a buffet style offering a variety of selections every night. Im a fussy eater but I found every day the different options were more than enough to satisfy me.
The resort itself is very big and there are regular activites to get involved with throughout the day. 2 Pools with one being big and noisy (activities) and the other abit smaller but more quiet.
It is mainly a german speaking resort but this wasnt a problem as I was in a large party and we made it aware we were english. Most staff speaked English but any that were confussed tried the best they could with understandings.
The entertainment crew were excellent. All games and any rules for all were explained in all languages, For whom ever was there at the time, Germans , English, Russians etc. and they made the entertainment a pleasure - whether just watching or partisipating.
Excellent Holiday, and Excellent hotel - would defo go again to the alba.
Only gumble is the stories about the Germans are true. They put there towels down on a sunbeds early doors. In one case we had our party of 16 with 8 either side of a couple(germans) who had put there towels down early and we couldnt move there beds.
DONT GET THE TAXIS. Cost us 15 euro to get into Side but if you flag down one of the buses they are very comfy and very cheap - 5 lira for 2 of us which works out at 2.50 euro. The buses are like our mini buses. Very safe.

just got back from 10 glorious days at alba resort.found the place very good and extremly clean.good choice of drinks and many places to go and drink not just in 1 place.most of staff are lovely and we tipped the 1's that are nice without tipping rather than other way round.
Alot of germans there but found them ok and plenty of sunbeds to go round either at pool or beach.food is well presented and nice however after 5 days it did get a bit boring but if you vary it yourself you can make it exciting.
