Great place to stay
We (fiance and i) have just returned from a great holiday at the Hotel Karbel. We spotted a cheap holiday to the Hotel through Goldtrail and we extremely apprehensive given the reputation of Goldtrail. Extensive research (including tripadvisor) ensued and we eventually decided to go for it. We needn't have worried as the Hotel and staff were excellent. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The pool is large and there are plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Everyday brings a new event at the hotel - we found it difficult to leave the hotel at all during the day. But leave you must as there are plenty of activities and trips to go on. Particularly enjoyed the paragliding and the sunset cruise. Highly recommended!
Great Again
This is the 3rd year we have stayed here and once again the holiday was wonderful. We stayed for just a week this time as an inbetween break as we can't bear to go a year without visiting Olu Deniz so we have to fit a week here around our main holiday! The staff are very friendly, the pool great as usual, rooms are small but immaculately clean and you do only sleep there. The bar staff are wonderful especially Zeki although he was quieter than normal, I think due to worry of his baby's imminent birth! Can't reccommend this hotel or resort enough for a relaxing break for young and old alike. I've been coming to this resort for a few years now so if there are any questions you have about this hotel, other hotels in the area (including Hisaronu) or activities / bars / restaurants, feel free to contact me.
fab time at the karbel hotel olu deniz
just got back from a one week stay 3rd july to 11th july 06 what a fantastic hotel for the money very clean very friendly staff nice pool great sunbeds not a problem to find them always some spare if you prefer the beach this is only a 5 min walk away food was good both in the buffet and pool bar good entertainment in the evenings very child friendly cant do enough for you, the rooms are nice air conditioning and fridge in your room and tv . with balcony. rooms were cleaned on a regular basis olu deniz is a beautiful resort i have been to many resorts in turkey and i have to say this is one of the nicest i have been to . not to busy and not to spoilt , plenty of stuff to do boat trips, paragliding ,excursions, etc . not to longer transfer from dalaman airport all in all a great time was had could not make a complaint about a single thing
Great Holiday
Just returned from a week at the Karbel and have no complaints - we were in block 1 on the top floor - our room was no bigger or smaller than other Turkish Hotels I have stayed in- it had a tv , air con and a fridge, shower with curtain - kept very clean by maid who even put petals on bed when towels changed - all the staff were very helpful & friendly -breakfast ok- we only ate at hotel on BBQ evening but it was well worth the money- we went down to the Lagoon most days but noticed there always seemed to be plently of sunbeds by the pool when we returned around 5 - it was not noisy in the evenings - positioned in a great place at the top of the main street - we booked a fantastic 12 islands boat trip at Activities Unlimited directly opposite the hotel, went paragliding with Sky Sports which was fantastic and our favourite restaurant was the Secret Garden - all in all had a great week at this hotel and resort
Fantastic Hotel & Resort!
I cannot praise this hotel up enough from the moment we arrived until we left! As soon as we got off the transfer coach our bags were taken straight to reception and then onto our rooms. Our room was quite spacious with a double bed, sofa, fridge and air conditioning that we could adapt depending how hot it actually got. This was also free of charge so didn't have to worry how much it was going to cost us. The bathroom wasn't that big but alright for us as it was only me and my boyfriend travelling. I liked the fact that we had a proper shower cubicle so the fllor never got flooded come shower time. The maids clean your room everyday and a couple of times throughout our stay we had the towels on our beds shaped in butterflies and flowers. Very nice touch! The staff at this hotel were really friendly as well. We would get up for breakfast every morning and there waiting in the dining area was Adem, I think he was the restaurant manager. Breakfast ran from (7.30-10.00) there was loads of choice from melon to boiled eggs from cheese to olives, tomatoes and you could have as much as you like. We only ever ate at our hotel once in the evening just because we wanted to go and explore the resort and there were cheaper places to eat. The one night we did eat in was Turkish Night, this is a really good laugh and if you have the chance to do it I would recommend it! There is the option when your there to have 3 nights dinner at the hotel and have a saving of 10% this includes the Turkish Night, Barbeque Night and Sunday Roast. Around the hotel there is also no need to carry any cash as it is all charged to your room from the card you are given on check in. Everyday come 3pm you have ~MILKSHAKE TIME~ they come around the pool area selling these, come 4pm its ~TEA, COFFEE AND CAKE TIME~. The Karbel Hotel has it's own photographer called Omer. He comes around daily taking some snaps, and generally will ask to meet up with you whilst on holiday to take some pictures we actually brought some that were taken of us because they were of quite a reasonable price. The resort of Olu Deniz is really pretty and just behind the Karbel Hotel we can find all the restaurants, bars and the beach. We went down to the Lagoon once during our stay and hired an umbrella and deck chairs for a cost of 12 lira to get onto the Lagoon it was 2.50 lira each. It is well worth it especially if your going to spend the day down there. We did a couple of excursions whilst in Turkey; Jeep Safari, Turkish Bath and 12 Islands. These were all worth doing and we booked through Seaside Tours on the strip. They were very reliable and cheaper than using our First Choice representative. Would definately go back! Missing the weather already!
Good hotel
We've just returned from the Karbel and had a fantastic holiday. There are 3 Karbel's in Olu Deniz. Hotel Karbel (locally called the big Karbel - which is where we stayed), Karbel Sun, which is directly across the road and Karbel Beach which as it suggests is very close to the beach. This confused us initially on the reviews. The Karbel is about 10 minute walk to beach walking down main strip which has shops, bars and restaurants. At the bottom of this road is the beach road which then contains more bars and restaurants. If you turn right at the end and continue walking for approx another 10-15 mins you then get to the lagoon. We used the main beach most days, went to the main lagoon beach once, which was worth doing but food and drink facilites were very basic. We then stumbled upon Sugar Beach club which is a fantastic private beach owned by the same guy who owns Help Bar on the beach front. We called them and they came to hotel within 2 mins to pick us up and also took us back. This place is amazing and we have planned to marry here. It is in the bay of the lagoon, very shallow water (fish ate bread out of our hands), plenty of sunbeds, gazebo areas with cushions, hammocks and a great restaurant. They play chilled out music all day - worth a visit! For us The Hotel Karbel was a good base, we don't enjoy sitting in hotel bar or around pool, but both did look absolutely fine. We were B&B but ate at hotel twice - once was Buffet which was fantastic, great choice, very welll presented and fantastic service from waiting team at 22 lira (but you get 10% off if you book 3 meals - we didn't feel the need as there are so many different restaurants to sample - but if you do you can use your 3 to go to Turkish/BBQ or Sunday Dinner nights too). We also ate A la carte one night which was good if you like meat - a huge menu and the food was really good. Breakfast, we found was superb - I did get fed up of hearing Brits moaning that there was no bacon. If your holiday does revolve around an English breakfast then you can pay extra for other food - but we didn't feel the need. Breakfast consisted of unlimited: fresh bread (and they have a toast machine for you to use), coffee, tomatoes, boiled eggs (scrambled and omellettes twice in the week), melon, cucumber, variety of cheese, variety of cold meats, variety of pastries and rolls, jam and a huge variety of more food. Our room was INCREDIBLEY basic and quite small, but this was fine as we just slept and showered here. We did notice that some other rooms were much bigger. The rooms are in blocks - block 1 nearest pool and block 9 furthest from pool/reception. Each block is in a gardened area which is very well kept. We had daily maid service and bedding/towels changed twice a week. On that note - there was only a bottom sheet and then a cross between a sheet/throw which I found uncomfortable to use as a sheet - personal thing. Our room was very dark, which was a blessing as it stayed cool. The patio (we were on ground floor) was tiny, as were the balconies - no table, just 2 chairs, but again looked onto gardens. We were woken quite a few nights by late arrivals, which can't be helped, but did wake us with suitcases being dragged - nothing you can do about that though. Rooms also had mini fridge, TV and free air con. The staff at hotel were all very helpful and VERY polite and made it seem as though they really did value your custom. The hotel also had hair dressers, nail salon and a super market attached. You pay £1 per day for safety deposit box behind reception and the whole hotel felt very safe. We are getting married in Olu Deniz next year, we are staying at Oyster Residences as they are very special for honey moon, but I will certainly recommend The Karbel to my family and friends - which must say alot!
Fantastic Holiday
We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Karbel in Oludeniz. There were 6 of us in our party 2 couples and 2 teenagers. We went on recommendation from the other family who stayed there last year and we were not disapointed. After reading a couple of the bad reviews on this site I am confused, were they staying at the same Hotel??? The Hotel Staff are first class and can not do enough for you. The rooms are a little on the small side but very clean and the air-conditioning and fridge more than make up for it. We were on a bed and breakfast tariff so that we could have a choice of where to eat in the evenings. There is plenty of choice in Olu Deniz or in Hisaronu (short trip on the Dolmuss). We ate a la carte one night in the Karbel and it was excellent (large portions and cheap). There was plenty to keep the teenagers amused when they were not in the pool. The Hair/Beauty Salon run by Morat was good, he does everything himself including manicures! Omar the photographer was very friendly and took lots of photos but with no pressure to buy. Entertainment every night in the poolside bar where we were lucky enough to win a Turkish Bath, Boat Trip and best of all a free week's stay for 2 people next year. The only negative comment i can give is that it was noisy on a couple of nights when 2 large parties arrived in the early hours and had no consideration for people trying to sleep. However, as soon as we complained to the Manager and our Travel Rep it was dealt with immediately and efficiently. Olu Deniz is a fantastic resort and the Karbel Hotel just fabulous - go and see for yourself.
Best Ever
My wife and I and friends(all over 50) have just returned from a week at this great Hotel. We have between us stayed and travelled to most counties in Europe USA and South Africa. We all agree that this was the best weeks holiday we have ever had. From the moment we arrived at the Hotel at 2am the staff did not stop looking after you. The rooms are set in lovely gardens. Yes a bit small but well appointed and very Clean. The cleaners we had made your bed with folds and flowers differently every day .The bar staff "Rodney" "Eric" and all were an entertainment in themselves. Adam the resturant Manager was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. The food at the Hotel was good quality. \we ate A La Carte on a couple of Occassions 3 courses with 3 bottles of wine £10 a head(Try the mussell casserole if you go) The Entertainment at the Hotel was good just join in and have a great laugh. Nereby bars are ok as are the resturants. Don't miss the worst Elvis Act you will ever see if he is about. The beach is fab. People about all day to bring you your food and drinks to you on your sunbed! The location and scenery is fabulous. We loved it all and will be returning. Well done Karbel!
Best holiday ever!!!!!
My boyfriend and i have just returned from our holiday in Turkey and we really felt we needed to write a review to show just how good it was!! We stayed in the Karbel Hotel Olu Deniz and it was fantastic!! I was concerned when i read the bad reviews people had written before we went but i shouldnt have worried! We are both in our 20's but wanted a quiet, relaxing holiday together. This is perfect for it. The hotel is in a fantastic location, at the top of a quiet street that leads down to the beach and resturants and bars. The room and bathroom were nicely decorated and very clean, free aircon (much needed!) and mini fridge. We were on a top balcony so little noise and no bugs! The pool is pleasant, though as other reviewers have said there were a few tatooed people there (which i dont like!) but in no way did it affect us, everyone was friendly and it is very quiet around the pool. Staff are so friendly and remember who you are! Food is basic, we only ate at the hotel one night as there are so many lovely resturants down the street. Drinks are pretty much the same prices as in England but food is very affordable and good quality (fillet steak at £6!!!) we ate extremely well here!!! Some great resturants to try are; Captain Hooks Sea Food Resturant Bella Gusto Italian Resturant (so good we went back 3 times!) The best resturants tend to be to the left of the street and opposite the beach, lots to chose from!! Dont be put off by all the attention you get from the turkish people trying to lure you in to their shop/resturant/bar, they are all friendly and just say no if you dont want to! The beach was gorgeous, really clear blue sea and great views with the mountains. It wasnt busy atall. I suggest buying jelly shoes to wear though as it can be a bit pebbley and sore on your feet. Try to go on the excursions that your tour opperator offers as they are well planned and you get to see so much of Turkey, find out the traditions and the history. We went to the 'Turkish baths' (very relaxing), 'Dalyman Discovery' (incredible sights, boat trip along the river, rock tombs and turtle beach), 'Turkish mud baths' (bit grim in the mud but very amusing!) and 'Walk on the wild side' (brilliant day, walking through a cool gorge between the mountains, paddling in the snow water!) Also visit the desserted town of Kaya-koy, very interesting and eerie!! Dont be concerned when your coach drives you (from the airport to the hotel) at the derilict areas and the 'shacks' which are houses, dont forget Turkey is generally not a wealthy country. But you soon reach the bigger towns and Olu Deniz, and visibally it is wealthier and more civilized. We had such an amazing time we wish we had booked longer!! This is definitely one of the best holidays i have had and i have travelled alot. This is best for couples i think, not so much for young groups. Try it out for yourself and have a fab time!!!!
hot hot hot
Was not looking forward to it with the bad reports i heard off people abut Turkey in general. How wrong i was. Fab hotel, open plan. rooms small and basic, but you only sleep there right. Food was really nice, and special meals of a roast dinner on Sunday's. Hotel staff were so friendly and guest's are made welcome from the moment they arrive. Nothing was too much trouble for ALL the staff. Short walk to the shops which sold everything. 20 mins stroll to the blue lagoon, small charge was made but it was worth a visit. The only thing that let the holiday down a little bit was the weather, 35 - 40 degrees, a mini heat wave for the area and the time of year. All in all, The Karbel hotel was a real good relaxing freindly place to stay. planning our next holiday there for the end of the year. hope to see you there.
