Great place to go for a holiday. Spend as much time as you can get there. Hotel was spotless as were the facilities. Most friendliest staff you could ask for who are always willing to help you out. Went with a friend and her family so would love to have the opportunity to stay at the same hotel again. Just need to get my parents to go now because they would love it and it would be a great shame if i could not go again. Olu Deniz is deffinatly the place to be with so many friendly locals.

We had a 2 weeks stay here in August. The hotel is lovely and always kept looking clean and tidy by very attentive staff. Our room was in block 9 and on the top floor so we had views over Olu Deniz and out to sea. The room was small but plenty of cupboard and drawer space for clothes. The maid service is beyond reproach even leaving the beds decorated with swan towels and flowers some days.
The pools are clean and we could always find sunbeds and umbrellas when we wanted them. The food, breakfast was OK with a choice of salads and boiled eggs/fresh bread, BUT they also insist on serving luke warm chips at breakfast ??. We paid for 3 evening meals at 75tl each and got one free, but even at that it is cheaper and better to eat out in the evenings, the choice of main course is from 2 and both were abysmal. It is only worth eating in on Wed nights for the BBQ.
This is our 5th visit to Olu Deniz and this year all the prices have doubled for food, drinks, even the copy stuff on the markets. Evening meal will cost you about same if not more than what you pay in UK.Gernerally the restaraunts on the side streets are better value and better meals so take a wander round off the main strip. We booked all our tips online before we went to turkey with www.caroletayfun.com and they were fantastic value with pick up and drop off at the hotel included we paid £9 each for the 12 island boat trip, lasted all day until 6pm,wonderful BBQ and fresh salad for lunch and very comfortable uncrowded boats. we did 8 trips with them and loved every one.
We love Olu Deniz and that area of Turkey but if we do go back it will have to be all inclusive because of the high prices for meals and drinks.
The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and helpful, always have a smile for you.The entertainment is a bit hit and miss ( mostly miss) but all in all not the worst place we have stayed.
The payment at the hotel is all made on your room card and it very quickly adds up, so keep an eye on that. Drinks are expensive in the hotel at 5.50tl a beer, and 3tl a cup of coffee, same prices as UK roughly. We enjoyed our stay here but will try somewhere else next time we go to Turkey.

We recently returned from a week holiday in the karbel, first night we arrived at 3.30am and were put in rooms called the dungeon as our rooms were not ready and we didnt have our rooms until 1pm the next day. The hotel is very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly, the pool and bar area were clean and tidy. The food was nice but very limited in choice and didnt cater for children much, ok if you like chips for breakfast. The Karbel is situated in a good place near the beach, shops and bars.

We was recommended with Olu Deniz by a Thomson sales person and are we glad we listened. The place is absolutely brilliant and the Karbel Hotel is a wonderful place to be. Although the rooms are small they are comfortable clean and air conditioned, with the maids and staff very friendly even to laying fresh flowers on your beds.
The strip is fun with us whiteies been pounced upon for trips, watches, shirts etc but a polite no will receive a polite 'perhaps next time'.
Food wise, people need to try 'Ottomans'Toscana's and Sugar & Spice - In our opinion they far outweigh the others. The guys in the 'Ottamans' cannot do enough for especially 'Ahmet' the manager - Ali who likes to get is nipple out and Jameil who is the supplist kid i have ever seen. Even to dancing on the bar when they finish serving food. Also with this place we found it to be the best English Breakfast all for 9 Lira -(£3.75)
Change you money there you will get a better exchange rate - as high as 2.45l for £1
Keep away from 'Chill Out' we all had a dodgy tummy after eating there and certainly book NO trips with Bloody Gorgeous - We had to return home early due to a near fatal road accident.
All thats left is enjoy and visit the 'Olu Deniz Shopping Centre' End of the strip turn left at the beach and follow your nose, go to Gengsis Khan and you will come away with loads of fake but geniune goods cheaper than the strip.
Enjoy

I recently returned from two weeks, bed and breakfast at the karbel hotel in Olu deniz. I stayed with my girlfriend. It was fantastic, The hotel is imaculate, the pool is clean and the bar has an amazing veriety of drinks. The staff were very friendly and a maid makes your bed and gives you clean towels each day.
Our room was perfect, overlooking the pool ( to which there is two, and they are both nice). It had a small balcony and air conditioning. we were on the first floor of one of the hotel blocks, but i have to warn you that there are some basement rooms below the block with no windows or balconies. However, each time we spoke to somone who had been put in one of these rooms they simply said that they refused, and the hotel staff relocated them to another room.
There is plenty to do around olu deniz, loads of fantastic restaurants and bars. Breakfast at the hotel was abit limited by choice (egg and chips ), but we were told that the evening meals were superb ( we only stayed bed and breakfast ).
The Hotel is wonderfull and somthing would have to go extremely wrong to change it. we will definately be going back again in the near future.

Just came back from a two week stay at the Karbel Hotel it was our first visit to Turkey and it wont be out last it was very enjoyable a bit to hot so we will be going later next year. Hotel very clean, small rooms but very nice and air conditioned, two nice pools with plenty of sun beds. staff very friendly and Breakfast very nice. Cleaner was lovely and she put flowers on our bed and flowers in my room as she could see it had been my birthday. Loads of shops and resturants on your doorstep, didnt rate the Buzz bar as found the owner very abrupt when we went to just have a drink, so we came away the best place to karoke and dance the night away till the early hours is n-joy, lovely people and food and a great nights entertainment made us very welcome. Lots of places to change your money and they accept our english money in most places. Blue lagoon was beautiful and a must is the boat trip to 6 different islands and then a return night trip to watch the sun set and sing round the fire on the beach it was lovely. would highly recommend this holiday to all ages.

Just arrived back from the Karbel Hotel, had a lovely holiday, weather very hot, two loveley swimming pools, Staff very friendly, and helpful, Breakfast could of had more choice, as it has mostly english guest there. Evening meal: limited, very spicy food
no ice-cream unless you pay extra. Room very clean and spaceious. Area is great. Would go back when not so hot temp 45-50 around mid day. If you like a buzzing holiday you can catch a Dolush up to Hissaranu 10mins up the hill, you cant walk it. Photo's taken by pool very good. Great turkish baths across road at Alize Hotel for anyone to use £20 for 2hrs. What else can I say Try it for yourself.

just loved this place. Didnt know which hotel to book with as a lot of the hotels look similar but we were so glad that we chose the karbel. arrived at 22.30, sat down with a free soft drink whilst the receptionist explained about the hotel - nice start. was shown to our room, although basic was very clean. we must have had one of the best views as we were overlooking the quiet pool (room 993).
The main shopping/eating/drinking etc was just about one minute away as the main area starts from the Karbel. Still pretty quiet at night but overall just in the right place.
The staff were very friendly, always helpful but the maid/cleaner was fantastic. She would leave the room immaculate but would always take time to arrange the bedding in a different way - nice touch.
Breakfast was ok although i dont really eat much but my partner enjoyed the fresh fruit etc. Had a nice meal in the a la carte restaurant but usually went down the road for most meals. i would recommend Ottomans.
We both fell in love with Olu deniz, especially around the lagoon area, although it did cost us 18 lira for 2 sunbeds and brolly.
Although we loved the beach - be aware that it is not sand but pebbles and stones which can be very hard on your feet but you can buy some beach shoes to make it easier for yourselves.
Nightlife in Olu Deniz was relaxed but still had a nice buzz about the place. WE JUST LOVED IT HERE.
For a more busier place, Hisaronu was just a short dolmus ride away. We had some great meals in the "Lemon Tree".
Loved watching the Paragliders and decided to have a go. Was recommended to book with "Focus". They were very professional, ATA my pilot was excellent, gave me confidence and took some fab photos. The drive up the mountain was a bit scary but was worth it when you reached the top.
Overall we both loved Olu Deniz and cant wait to go back, staying at the Karbel Hotel again.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a wonderful week staying at the Karbel Hotel in Olu Deniz. I'd definately recommend this place - the hotel is very charming, spotlessly clean with possibly the friendliest staff I have ever met anywhere!! They go out of their way to make all guests feel welcome; the cleaners do an outstanding job (we even had flowers placed on our bed on the last night). On a half-board basis, the food is good too: breakfast is quite simple with a selection of cold salads, nice bread, cereals, eggs etc. (only downside being the coffee, and a lack of tea), dinner was always good with lots of variety. The barbecue night was fantastic, great food and nice atmosphere dining by the pool! The accommodation itself is pretty basic but perfect if you want a base for lazy beach holiday. We had a room on the top floor with a small balcony, which was really great and had good views of the hotel pool, the sea and the mountain backdrop. Olu Deniz itself is buzzing with bars, cafes and souvenir shops, the downside of which is that they are all expensive and also excessively geared to the 'English' tourist (e.g. full english breakfasts, rugby games on etc.). However it is really great if what you're after is a totally chilled out holiday; Buzz bar and Help were probably our favourites. There are also loads of activities to choose from - we went paragliding (with Sky Sports), which was absolutely amazing!! The views were simply breathtaking, definately recommend it if you get the opportunity. The beach is very stony, so take some flip flops with you otherwise you won't be able to walk! The lagoon-side of the coast is a bit more peaceful, so we went there on most days. The sun beds are a bit pricey (15-18 Lira for two and an umbrella), but if you're there for a week that's ok. All in all, a truly wonderful holiday with excellent weather too!! One tip: take some food with you to Dalaman airport on the way back - it is incredibly expensive to get any snacks at the airport itself!!! (e.g. equivalent of £10 for a big mac meal...seriously!). Other than that, can't fault the holiday in any way! Already want to go back.

just back after spending a week at the Karbel well we had a lovely time the staff were lovely and nothing was to much trouble. we found it easy to get on a bus and go to fethiye and also the blue lagoon was a place you have to go.the hotel itself was set in some lovely gardens & was only 2minutes from the main street short distants from the beach (although you will need to ware a pair of beach shoes)as its all pebbles even in the water your on pebbles and also beware of the quick difference in the deepness as its very quick.once got used to it didnt stop us from going in swimming.A boat trip around the bay calling at six stops the blue caves &butterfly island with lunch is well worth trying.a Avery enjoyable time had by all

Just reurned from 3rd visit to Karbel. The place is outstanding, spotless, basic accomodation, amazing staff who cant do enough for you and always have a smile! Olu deniz is not for youngsters really as not geared up for them. No clubs, just nice bars and restraunts that a usually closed by midnight. More suited to the middle aged and older bracket like us!

We booked our flights through aegeanflights.com when they were released in the previous June, and paid a bargain £70 flying from Cardiff. This was the first time that we had flown from this airport and indeed with this company, but check in was by far the easiest we have had. No queues and literally straight through. It was breakfast time, and if you want something more substantial to eat, eat before you go through to departures.
Had heard some mixed reports about Onur Air, but our flight was one of the best that we have had, it was comfy (although the recliners on the seats seem to be a bit hit and miss so be careful if people in front of you decide to recline!)
Arrived in Dalaman, and getting visas and through passport control was pretty quick and easier than the year before. Baggage collection was quick and easy too.
We booked our transfers from the airport with Hamish McTurk (£65 return for 2 people) and our driver was waiting outside with a board although we did have a little difficulty finding him. Quick transfer through though to Olu and our hotel for our stay the Hotel Karbel.
This was our second visit to this hotel, having stayed there the previous year, I had booked the hotel this year through sunshine.co.uk (Excellent service, price and when I realised a problem on booking I emailed them even though it was gone 11pm on a Saturday night I received a reply within 20 mins) I had also emailed the hotel direct to pay to upgrade our room as last year we had been moved to one of their suites.
On check in, however, although we had been told we would be having the room we had booked and had email confirmation, when we were taken over to our rooms it was not the one we had booked, nor which we were paying for! As we were led down the stairs in block 4, there was no getting away that we were being placed into a basement room. My heart sunk as we were led into a room which can only be described as a prison cell. About 12 foot square with no balcony. The only windows in the room were at the top of the wall at near ceiling height and they were only about 12” wide! The room although clean really was awful. IF YOU GET ONE ASK TO CHANGE IMMEDIATELY AND DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!! We refused to stay in this room, and although our bags were offloaded, I had to make a trip to reception, where the guy on reception said that our room was not available and as the hotel was full this was where we had to stay. I told him that I was not staying in that room, showed him the emails we had, and he was aware of our booking. In a space of about 20 minutes we were given various different excuses as to why we couldn’t have our room, and told that the manager wasn’t on site. We were told that someone was checking out after midnight and we could be moved to a family suite until we could eventually be moved into our room later in the week. Having been up since 4am, the thought of having to stay away and move was not appealing. It was somehow a miraculous quick return of the manager who was supposed to have been offsite, which eventually got a result. But if you are placed into these rooms, do not be put off getting a room for which you have paid. In the first couple of days (and again when we were checking out 2 weeks later) it became apparent that the hotel seems to have a policy of placing people in these rooms to see who will not complain. We spoke to 4 other families who had been placed in these rooms, and eventually all of who got moved, but it doesn’t make for a good start to the holiday. But the basement rooms really are awful to say the least. We were also failed to be moved to the promised room and a trip to reception the following morning, we were told that the room was still not ready. However, in the afternoon of our 2nd day, I had to leave the pool along with my son to move to the new room. This was only for 2 nights, but was a family suite. It has a double bed and a separate twin room, separate shower room, the room was spacious and had a small balcony, fridge and air conditioning, and would be nice for a family of 4. There would also be room for an extra put up bed if needed. I would have been happy to stay in this room, but on our 3rd day while being by the pool, we were advised that the room for which we were booking and had paid for, was ready. As I had already unpacked, as I was told to do, the hotel packed our things and moved us to room 116. Although the room itself doesn’t have a view, it is in a good place, it’s a huge room and also has the Jacuzzi bath, which was the exact reason why I had wanted to upgrade.
We really lost the first couple of days to sorting out the rooms, but even though our first day had seen such problems, the staff were helpful. Breakfast (which we only made twice in 2 weeks) is the basic Turkish breakfast, although they do cook omelettes on a Friday to order for no extra charge. Cereals are limited and I took some from home for my son (the ultimate fussy eater). Prices have gone up in this hotel, as indeed they have within the resort of Olu, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the cleanliness of the hotel. Rooms cleaned daily, sheets changed every other day, with towels changed as and when too. Needed extra pillows but they were bought very quickly. Air conditioning which is free worked well as always and much needed in temps which were heading over the 50’c mark on a regular basis.
The entertainment at the hotel hasn’t improved a great deal, we went down into the main strip in the evening to eat and drink and so didn’t stay for it, the entertainment doesn’t normally start til late and then is very short. Breakdancers were good, and the firelady was ok too. They still do the BBQ on a Wednesday night, although we didn’t partake this time.
All of the communal areas in the hotel are very well kept, clean and tidy, always being tended to, so cannot fault this about the hotel once again. A lot of the staff are friendly, some of them tho, really aren’t, which is definitely not the norm.
We went in May last year and the hotel was fairly quiet so it was interesting to see the same hotel and resort in high season. We didn’t struggle for sunloungers by the pool, apart from on one day, and they do try to remove towels left by people. Someone does a round mid morning, removing any towels or items left on the beds, so do keep an eye out if you are in the pool as you may get out to find your stuff moved! But it does help having the two pools, so even tho the hotel was full, it didn’t seem crowded. We only used the bottom pool once tho, and didn’t use the snack bar that end at all, but having double the facilities spreads people out so gives you more room.
One of the nicest things (and we’ve never returned to the same place twice) was being remembered from the year before, for people to remember your names, where you come from etc etc was a new experience for us, but the people are so friendly and welcoming.
We dined at the hotel sometimes at lunchtime at the snack bar by the pool, the prices again have gone up slightly, and the prices for soft drinks are what push the bill up. Can be a shock when you come to pay the bill having used the card (they don’t accept cash) soft drinks were 6 YTL, milkshakes the same, beer was 5 YTL for a large one. Happy hour in the evening for local drinks if you wished. Snack bar food was nice, chips are wonderful! Cannot comment on the evening food there this year, we much prefer to venture down into Olu and eat at the wonderful places. We actually went to Captain Hooks and Sultan Ahmets for many repeat visits, the food excellent. Visit to Buzz but while nice, we weren’t that impressed. Although they do a lovely take away kebab which was great value and incredibly tasty!
There is a no outside food/drink policy around the pool areas, however, a lot of people were nipping out to the Karbel market to buy bottles of soft drinks as they were cheaper than the hotel prices.
We did notice that prices had increased on last year, starters averaged about 5-7 YTL, main courses were between 12-24 YTL, some restaurants doing 3 courses for around similar amounts. Efes was around 5 YTL in most places, soft drinks again were the things that pushed it up, although water still cheap everywhere.
Although I would love to go again next year, I think it may be time for a change, but we will return, we would return to the Karbel, but for a change would probably stay somewhere else. The complimentary fruit basket and wine wasn’t enough really to make up for the first 3 days of 3 different rooms when I had booked in advance for a specific room which was confirmed. But the hotel is lovely, a mix of groups and families. There were also a mix of nationalites and were surprised at the number of Turkish people who actually stayed here, but it isn’t a rowdy hotel, although why is it that there is always one English family group who always think that it is funny throwing all of the staff into the pool in their clothes???!!!!
Cannot recommend Olu enough, although if you want a clubbing atmosphere Hisaronu may be the place more for you, although it is only a short dolmus away.
