Celtic Royal Hotel

Our room was had seen better days and was a little small, but it had all the basic facilities and everything worked. The buffet breakfast was good as the food was regularly replaced by fresh batches. However, on other trips to Caernarfon we have stayed in centrally located Bed & Breakfasts that have much better rooms with an excellent breakfast cooked personally for you at about half the price of the B&B rates at the Celtic Royal. I stayed here for a couple of nights on business and it was lovely. The room I was initially given had a problem with the lights but the staff were helpful and moved me without any issue. The entrance hall is quite unusual with a staircase that divides off on either side and a large central atrium. More interesting than the average Holiday Inn! Lovely views of the Menai Straits also. I had to visit Caernarfon and was booked into this hotel by a 3rd party. I was very pleased with my room, I even had a veiw of the Menia Strait, even though I was only on the 1st floor. T-mobile cell phone reception is not good in this area, and places in the hotel it was non-existant, this is not the hotels fault, but useful for other guests to know. I only had one major problem. We stayed here for two nights during the week. Although we are a young couple we wanted somewhere reasonably quiet to stay as a a relaxing break. The hotel reception and foyer area was very impressive - nicely furnished and decorated, had a nice feel to the place. Our room was standard size with a bath/shower. Our towels were changed and our bed was made each day - we had no complaints. Pros. Hotel facilities great! location good. Rooms large, comfortable and clean(air vents outside window somewhat noisy);Pleasant public rooms. Lovely swimming pool; Food good; Waitresses in particular, and generally most staff pleasant and helpful. Cons. Poor management. We stayed here for two nights at the end of August and were really impressed. We booked direct with the hotel and paid £100 per room per night, which included a cooked and buffet breakfast, car parking and use of the spa (swimming pool, gym, sauna, etc.). The lobby, sitting rooms and hallways are nicely furnished with loads of comfortable sofas.
