Beaches Hotel

I recently booked a room at The Beaches Hotel, Beach Road West, Prestatyn for the night of my wedding. I telephoned to make the booking and the receptionist told me I would have the Honeymoon Suite for the night at a cost of £125.00. When I called in to pay the deposit the next day I was informed I would have to pay the full amount in order to secure the room booking. I returned 2 days later to pay the full amount in cash when I was told I had a standard room not the Honeymoon Suite as agreed. I was very upset about this but felt I had no choice but to accept so I continued with the payment, paying the same amount I was quoted for the Honeymoon Suite!
Later that afternoon, I decided to cancel the reservation. I called The Beaches Hotel and asked to cancel; the receptionist was extremely rude and abrupt on the phone and told me I would not get my money back under no circumstances. After becoming angry and very upset with the attitude of the receptionist, I asked to speak with the manager to which she replied “well, she’s not in so you can’t” she then put the phone down on me.
I went to the hotel the following day to speak with the manager. I explained to her that I wished to cancel my booking, also giving 16 days notice, but she too told me I would not see my money again. She continued to cancel the room but refused to return my money saying it is non-refundable!
I was absolutely disgusted by the attitude and conduct of the staff at The Beaches, I was very upset as I had lost £125.00 from my wedding fund and had no room to stay in on the night. I decided I had no choice but to stay in the room I had paid for but when I called to confirm this, the receptionist told me I would have to re-book the room and pay again. I couldn’t believe it! I will never use or recommend that hotel ever again and would advise others against using it unless you are absolutely sure what you are getting and don’t pay until you depart or are at least sure you want the room. I never got my money back from The Beaches Hotel and had no room to stay in on my wedding night; I was and still am devastated!
