Bitter End Yacht Club Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the BEYC from May 27-May 30, 2005. It was everything we expected and read about, and more. We were welcomed at the dock with a nice COLD towel to freshen up before being escorted to the Front Desk. A wonderful surprise!! The Restaurant Staff was very attentive and courteous, had great big smiles on their face all the time and were chatty, always trying to accommodate any request. My wife and I recently returned from a 10 day Virgin Gorda vacation. We stayed at a villa across North Sound from the Bitter End. During our stay we made dinner reservations at the BEYC restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I had been there previously and looked forward to returning. There certainly has been a change (for the worse) in management. When we checked in with the hostess we were asked for our BEYC room number. I explained that we were staying elsewhere. My family and I stayed at the Bitter End in July 2004. It was our second visit. Having read many reviews of this resort and others I feel compelled to add my two cents. The Bitter End is clearly not for everyone. It is somewhat rustic, in an old money kind of way, and it is not for those looking to lounge by an exquisite pool and be pampered all day. It is a very active place. It is a get wet, get tired, explore and experience kind of place. The average guest is accustomed to the finer things in life but is a very active participant... more
