Gardenia Park Hotel
, FuengirolaGardenia Park Hotel Reviews
As you can see from the title, this was our 3rd stay at gardenia park and we can't seem to stop going back. the rooms are very very nice. Television has BBC 1, CBBC ( from 6 am to 6 pm), BBC 3 ( 6 pm till late), and ITV 1. Not that we were sad to stay in every night but its nice when your getting ready to go out. the food if very nice. There was a fish everyday and atleast 3 meats to choose from, plus the kids food table had old english favourites! The drinks are very nice. As it is all inclusive, you can't expect the beer to be brilliant but it was nice. the Coca Cola, Sprite And Fanta Lemmon And Orange Were Very Nice. The animacion staff are brilliant( in the day). The activities are great through out the day. Lola and Sergio are the head animacion staff and make it really fun the join in the activities. These range from archery, rifle shooting, water polo, french bowles, bowling and the spanish favourite sjoelen! Me, my husband and my son of 15 went out most nights. If you are looking for cheap beer go to the red dragon( just outside the garden gates). A Bottle Of San Miguel Was E1,20. The Most expensive pint was about E1,70 which is still cheap. I Loved This hotel and wouldn't hesitate to go back. PLEASE GO TO THIS HOTEL.
- Advice: walk to the train station. walk out of the the main doors and proceed to walk down until you see hotel toreblanca, then walk up and you'll see the train station. very convenient.

Really enjoyed this holiday. The weather was fab. The hotel was ok, very clean. Food was very nice & fresh. We were on an all inclusive holiday, but when you went to the bar for drinks you were only allowed 2 drinks per person, which was annoying as there was four people in our party. Which resulted in long queues for drinks. Also they charged for bottle water!!! No fridge in bedroom so was unable to have fresh cold drinks in bedroom. But we couldn't bring glasses of drinks to bedroom because it would end up full of ants. Staff were very rude and ignorant, they never smiled or weren't not friendly in the slighest. We had ants in our bedroom which we reported a few times but they still remained in our bedroom & going on our beds. The location of this hotel was great as it is just a stone throw from the beach. The resort was beautiful, very clean & tidy. Would definately come back to Fuengirola but not this hotel. Overall it was a good holiday.
- Advice: Pack plently of suncream as its very very hot.

Just come back from here with my Boyfriend. We booked last minute and after reading the reviews on here didnt want to go! We are both 22 but when we got there every review we read was wrong it was a great place to go! Brilliant if you have kids especially. The pool was nice and staff were friendly. The food was good there was something for every one every meal. I lived on san miguel the whole time I was there. Entertainment was good at night especially bingo just to hear the spanish reps saying "Fivety five".
Would go back in a few years time. One thing which wasn't good was teh sun didnt come by the pool until about midday.

I really enjoyed my holiday, most of the staff were lovely. The hotel was full of elderly people, some of the people staying there were quite rude. I wasn't much for the food, I quite enjoyed the entertainment, the weather wasn't very good, the outdoor swimming pool was freezing so i booked the indoor swimming pool everyday, the view was nice, but overall i really enjoyed my holiday,i would love to go again:)

Just returned from seven days and had a wonderful time.
We knew that there would be lots of older Spanish holidaymakers as we had been before, but what do people expect,it is there country and they are entitled to a holiday.
The food was excellent, plenty of choice, wish we could stock our cupboards with the selection that was available.
Rooms really clean, fresh towels every day.
Staff always friendly and attentive, nothing too much trouble, especially those in the restaurant.
Would go again,if they'll have us! I forgot to return the room key upon departure, but have since posted it back.

Wow! Amazing! What a treat!! Are not words to be used.
After booking a late deal to spain we did not expect to get to be a part of filming for Cocoon 3... The average age at the hotel was closer to 70... ideal for a couple in their 30's. The food was average, "snacks" were available all day, ie, cold chips, half cooked burgers and sausages. The same "snacks" we available everyday, to the point where if you marked any of them they'd still be there a week later.
The hotel tailored it's entertainment towards the film stars, with shuttle board, bingo, quiz's and ballroom dancing. By evening 2 you will be out desperately trying to find something else to do.
The room itself was clean and had all thats needed, minus the TV remote which is your's for a further 10 euros deposit, on top of other deposits needed for towels, safes, etc.
Its a fair walk from the town itself and any decent bars. If your after a sleepy break then this is the place for you. If not then look for somewhere nearer the marina which is about 5 miles away, not the 4 kilometers quoted at reception.

Not quite as expected for myself and other half. the hotel was clean, food available at all times and variety on offer was okay, however, for a vegetarian it was chips, salad or chips and salad. The hotel catered mainly for the spanish and was awash with people most definately over the average age of 65 (no offence intended} and the entertainment consisted of bingo, quizzes, line dancing, ballroom dancing and again catered for the more mature clientelle. Was told the main centre and harbour was only 4km from the hotel but after an hours brisk walk it was more than 5 miles. Everything has a deposit of 10 euros attached so if you want to rent the safe, towels and tv remote allow 30 euros on top of the price to have them in the first place. The outdoor pool is nowhere near as big as it appears in any photos i have seen on various websites.Spa, sauna, jacuzzi and indoor pool all cost extra to use. Shop around for bars as prices for 2 vodka and cokes went from 5 euros in one bar to 10 euros in another.
- Advice: Not for the young and lively that want alot going on around them!

I read the reviews on here before going and, I have to say, it set me up for a fall.
The swimming pool is too small for the waterpolo they claim is played and is only open between 10.00am and 6.00pm meaning it is not open at the better part of the day when the sun is not so strong.
The snack bar is, in fact, part of the restaurant therefore is closed before and during mealtimes meaning it is NOT all day.
The staff were efficient but sometimes aloof and abrupt.
the meals were regularilly cold, even for a buffet setup.
It was peaceful enoough and the beach is just a stonesthrow away.
There is a market within comfortable walking distance on the Tuesday and you're only forty minutes or so drive from Gibraltar.
- Advice: Not a hotel for those looking for excitement

my friend and i just returned from a 4 night break at the gardenia park. it was ace. very very clean, staff fantastic and the food was plentiful and delicious. entertainment was more for the spanish holidaymakers but guess that was time of year but it certainly didn't spoil anything, just made it funnier. (laughed at rather than laughed with)!! met some fantastic people. if you're thinking of having your hair done before you go, then don't. go and see Pepi in the hotel, fantastic and great rates. i had restyle and highlights, love it. my friend had indian head massage to die for from Stirling(Pepi's husband). all in all, i don't think there is anything to complain about this hotel, defo recommend it, maybe not for kids tho in the winter season. apparently there is a funfilled programme for families through the summer.

This is the eighth time we have stayed at this hotel, the fourth time this year but it will be the last. It is hard to believe that a hotel can go from being possibly the best 3 star in Fuengirola to one of the worst hotels not even worthy of 2 stars in 5 months.
After our last stay in June 2011 I was as before still reccomending this hotel to friends and family but after this last stay November 2011 I like many other repeat guests will be warning people to stear well clear.
The rooms are still dated but spotlessly clean and what few staff are still left are friendly, helpful and work really hard.
The gardens and communial areas are well tended and clean.
The drinks if you can get service are not watered down and of a fair quality. After that the hotel has nothing good going for it.
Breakfast is not too bad about half as good as it used to be with less choice and nearly allways stone cold. No scrambeled eggs or soft or hard boiled eggs and while we were their cold/warm beans on offer twice. No plain Yogurt. The bread if you want to make toast if often mouldy and you have to be carful when picking a coffee cup to find one that is clean. Dirty plates are left on tables for ages due to lack of staff.
Lunch is very bland , badly cooked and often cold. Nearly allways fried frozen skinny French fries, chicken, pork, lumps of leathery liver or bony shrivelled up fish. Veg normally rockhard cold brussels ,cold green beans or fried cabbage and onion. There is a choice of salad but there is no longer any cheese, cold meat or fish to accompany it. Deserts are very limited and they soon run out of most options.
The coffee machine has been taken away during the day so if you want coffee or a drink with your lunch you have to que at the bar. Only one bar person so expect to wait 5 to 10 min to get served.
Evening meal is disgusting by far the worst of the day to call it a meal is a travisty. Many of the guests British ,Dutch and Spanish go out and buy a meal rather than risk the so called food in the evening. The deserts are hit and miss but often they run out by 8.30pm. The pool bar also serves the restaurant but due to cut backs this is shut at 6.0pm. Red ,white wine and water is supposed to be on tap (by law in Spain) but as the bar is not an option for a drink while we were there they ran out of wine twice during the evening meal.
The supper buffet has been stopped to save money but they have a few dried up sandwitches in the upstairs Victoria bar.
Entertainment is virtually non exsistant even the Bingo has been stopped because they no longer have a licence.
At night the outside temperature dropped as low as 9c. It was perreshingly cold in our rooms we and others were forced to wear coats and jumpers in bed. They would not turn on the heating untill the hotel director told them they could on the evening Thursday 24 Nov 2011.
I personally complained to reception Monday,Wedensday and Friday about the above issues and asket to have a meeting with the management but was informed none were available. Others from what I was told met the same brick wall.
Still plenty of good hotels in the Fuengirola area but sorry to say this is no longer one of them.
We will still come back to the Costa Del Sol 4 to 6 times a year but this hotel has lost our buisness with their cut backs and poor service.
