Fab Apts
from V.Garbutt
Have just returned from Ocean Palace and have to say we found it a well furnished spacious apt, we especially liked the bathroom which was more of a wet room and quite luxurious as was the foyer and gallery around it.Having stayed in a quite a few different apts over the years in t'rife I would not hesitate to recommend these apts to anyone. We will def go back again if only to sit on their beautiful terrace with a drink and watch the sun go down!
Just returned home but would go again tomorrow!!

Myself and my husband have just returned from a week staying at the Ocean Palace. We had a fantastic time and throughly enjoyed the holiday. You may have seen reviews slating this hotel but I have to say you can't always please some people.. I will try to give a good detailed description of what you can expect. The hotel is very pleasant with a very grand entrance. we stayed in a standard suite which consisted of a very large bathroom with bath/shower, hairdryer, toilet, bidet and two sinks. There was a large bedroom with two almost double beds together and very large mirrored wardrobes with safe situated inside. Although i would recommend you take a few hangers with you if anything like me and you take numerous amounts of clothing! We also had a living area space with sofas and TV etc and a small kitchen unit which had sink, hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and a large selction of utensils, plates, pans etc. and a balcony overlooking the pool. When we arrived there was a welcome pack in the room which consisted of bread, butter, jam, tea, coffee, milk and orange juice. The rooms are air conditioned and clean with maid service approx 3 times a week. The pool area is very large but the tiles are very slippy when wet so be careful if you have little ones running around. There is a wide variety of daily activities catered for by Stacey and Luna, the entertainment team, who did an excellent job of getting everybody to join in with quizzes and bingo around the pool, which passes the time when your sunbathing. There is also archery, bowls, golf, and water polo.. during the day. The hotel entertainment in the evening is varied with your usual hotel acts and the bar runs a happy hour between 9-10pm with 2 for 1 drinks. We were half board and found the meals to be ok with a wide selction of choice..there was cereal, fruit, pastries or fry ups with proper english bacon available! for breakfast and normally some sort of theme in the evenings with soup, meat, potatoes, veggies, pasta and large selection of fresh salads.. so normally something for everyone.. The hotel itself is situated just back from the fanabe area but within easy walking distance aprrox 5 mins from the shops, restaurants and bars all down hill.and about 10 mins walk to the beach...although it only cost approx 3-5 euros in a taxi back from the beach which I did at 6 months pregnant in the heat!! there is a large supermarket about 2 mins walk from the hotel if your staying self catering although I believe from next season the hotel is going to be all inclusive. It is merging with the negrol beach next door and although maitenance and building work is currently going on I can honestly say you can't hear it once in your rooms and we slept in til 10.30 most days!! This area is much cleaner than the area of veronicas and the heart of las americas where most of the nightclubs bars etc are situated so is ideal for families and couples... and is very much catered for english people. We had a very nice time and would have no hesitation in going back to either the hotel or the general area itself..
Mixed feelings about this place
from A TripAdvisor Member
My whole familly have mixed feelings about this place some things are good, some things could be better. Read the review before me and it kind of sums up the things that I dislike but, hey, we're all different. It reminded me of a Butlins camp but with better weather. Let me start off with the good things: The rooms are fantastic, spacious, well kitted out and because the hotel is high on a hill have a tremendous view over the sea; the pool is a good one, plenty of room; the foyer is nice, cool and with plenty of sitting areas to relax in; the resort itself is a mixed bag. Head down to the sea and turn right and keep on walking to Adeje, it's more cosmopolitan down there and very new and clean and rather smart. Expensive shops and restaurants with exceptional service. For Gods sake don't go left, that heads towards Las Americas which you should avoid at all costs, it's horrible. Full of fat drunkards with tattooes and piercings and the men are even worse. But the most annoying thing about the place is the Britsh timeshare sellers, they are a down right nuisance and the local authorities should reaally get a handle on them. We made the mistake of being courteous to the first pair we met and we were stuck with them for half an hour. Take my advice be rude to them or pretend you are French (same thing). That's about it for the good things I think, how about the bad things. First of all, like one of the reviews before me I would agree that this hotel is no four star, probably three. The food was dissappointing, if you like British bangers and mash and chips with everything then this is the place for you, needless to say though it caters for the majority of the British tourists. I would like to have seen some more variety on offer and the quality was not up to four star standard, a bit 'canteen' really. We got fed up with the food eventually and ate out. The breakfasts are a bacon and beans affair, not much in the way of fresh fruit or cold meats or the like. The evening entertainment was what you'd expect of this kind of place, bingo and karaoke, you know the kind of thing. The 'turn' came on about 11 o'clock which was a bit late I thought 'cos it pushed any chance of a disco till well after midnight and it never really got going. I think a nightclub would work well here but what do I know, everybody else seemed to love it. They are building a new 'English Pub' on site at the moment which the tattoo and piercing fans will enjoy, bring your favourite football shirt and you'll fit in a treat. Little niggles: you can't run up a bill at the bar and charge it to your room, never stayed at a four star hotel that you can't charge items to your room; no soap or shampoo in the rooms, not four star; television in the room but you have to pay for English TV (except CNN or CNBC but who watches that), not much use then. But don't listen to me, bring your Union Jack shorts and towel, find youself a nice British Pub that serves proper food and shows non stop Premiership football you'll have a great time.

an absoloutly amazing hotel for me and my mum it was allocation on arriv al but i would pay however much it is to stay there!! the daytime entertainmen t is great with thye daily quiz and bingo with the common catchphrases of "whos ur daddy" "ow much" and "oooo thats nice" then the evening entertainmen t is great for the kids and adults my than ks goes out to stacey luna and amanda for providing this great entertain ment and also the bar staff in the hotel as they are equally as entertainable!! the rooms are really modern with nice big baths and doulble sinks and very well lit! the beds are even more confortable i havent slept aswell as i did o n holiday fokr months and the air conditioning in the room could be better but hey its air conditioning!!!! if you have picked this hotel and looking to go oiut every nite i would say tht you may just be dissapointed as it isnt really close to many clubs thiks tht is mainly the reason why the en tertainment on site is so good!! its not to far to the beach or puerto calone but if your looking to go into las americas then ur are way out!!
Very enjoyable holiday, but would rate hotel as 3*.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ocean Palace in May 05. The rooms were fantastic, the welcome packs were a nice touch and the pool area was beautiful. We were half board, but a little disappointed with the food. It was never hot and there wasn't as much choice compared to other 4 star hotels we've stayed at. Although we spoke to the chef about the temperature of the food, it never improved and as the staff were so obliging we didn't like to persist with our complaints but decided to eat out instead; however we got a brilliant offer with First Choice and overall the hotel was a lovely place to stay. I've stayed in Tenerife at least 8 times (clubbing with the girls in my younger days!) but this was my first stay in Adeje and I totally fell in love with the place. You've got the best of both worlds, a short taxi ride away is Playa De Las Americas for the buzzing nightlife or a short stroll to Plaza Del Duque for picturesque restaurants and bars on the beach, there's also a lovely shopping complex here - well worth a visit! If you fancy an evening out, but you're not up for clubbing - try the Moonlight bar, it's a 15 minute walk or 3 euros in a taxi (all the drivers know it). We had many a fun evening here! It's a karaoke bar, open until about 2am but they also have a live act on at 11.00pm every night - check out BWB if you can, two black guys with a wicked sence of humour and the most fantastic voices!!! It's not often I move away from the pool area, but as this was my first holiday to Tenerife with my boyfriend I made the effort to leave my sun lounger for the day to go on a trip up to the volcano. What a fabulous place, a world above the clouds! We went on the VIP Jeep Tours, who stop off at various villages and places of interest along the way. On a clear day you can get a cable car to the top, this was well worth the 20 euros as when you get to the top you are unbelievably 3000 feet above the ground - take a cardigan with you, although the temperature was an amazing 32 degrees back at the resort, it was a bit chilly stood above the clouds! Hope you enjoy your stay in Adeje as much as we did.
Ocean Palace is a palace

Spent a week at Ocean Palace 11th February 2005, 2 adults and a 12 year old, half board. The hotel reception area is very impressive with grand stair case, illuminated by rope lights in the evening, with a water feature on either side dropping through 3 floors. Arrived in the early hours and was able to make a drink due to the welcome pack that had been left in the room, containing tea, coffee, sugar sachets, bread, water, milk, orange and wine. The room was very nice and clean (should have watched the step down into the living room though!!). The longer meal times in the buffet restaurant meant that it was never full. The food was excellent with a theme each evening. There was entertainment every evening, although the main act was rather late, with a quiz and bingo during the day and sports activities which our 12 year old enjoyed. The on site health club looked very impressive. The First Choice reps were really nice and very helpful. The supermarket alongside the hotel was rather expensive and it is well worth the 5 minute walk to the nearby shopping centre. Can't think of anything negative to say about Ocean Palace - would go again.

The Good Bits All rooms face towards the pool and sea. All have balconies, which are south or south west facing so they get plenty of sun. You cannot therefore get a bad room although some rooms are noisy if you are over the basement entertainments room. Views from the rooms are very pleasant over the pool area and across the resort down to the sea. Rooms are spacious and reasonably clean, have a nice bathroom and decent shower with plenty of hot water. The bedroom is in the middle and can be shut off from the rest of the apartment by sliding doors. The kitchen area has two sofa beds, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and two rings – adequate for snack type meals. A pay to view TV is provided with Sky Sport 1 and other channels. The room has decent free air conditioning. Pool area and public rooms/reception are very nice. The not so good bits This Aparthotel was built 4/5 years ago, the design is brilliant and plenty of money was spent on the public areas. However money was saved by skrimping on the fixtures and fittings, and this is starting to let the hotel down. The upholstery on chairs in both the rooms and bar areas is coming away and bare foam is showing through. Some parasols and sun beds are broken and have not been replaced. There are no plugs in some of the kitchen sinks and the sofa beds could be cleaner. It’s all trivial stuff but needs sorting out or the hotel will soon become a 3 star which would be a real shame. Also customer service leaves a lot do be desired. Our party of 8 in 4 rooms only had 2 welcome packs. We complained but were told this is standard procedure for large parties. We persevered and were eventually given 20 euros compensation by the rep. Our kettle leaked, three complaints later it was finally replaced on the 6th day. Entertainment A lot has been said about the famous Roy. Yes he has a massive ego, but is quite funny and if you do not want to join in this is not a problem. The entertainment starts at 2.00 round the pool with a quiz and then bingo with plenty of music thrown in. Roy then holds a cocktail making session at about 5.00 which last about 30 mins. Roy passes on some of his huge amount of knowledge while he makes a cocktail, this included 5 mins on how ice melts (he took it down to the molecular level!). He then gives you a lesson in tasting as you sip his lovely cocktail. Definitely worth going to a couple times. Evening entertainment was the usual acts, Karaoke and disco. Meals We were self-catering and could have upgraded to half board for 90 Euros each but didn’t bother as there is a huge choice of restaurants in the resort. Each evening there is a themed meal – Chinese, Mexican, Italian etc, we ate there twice for 12 euros each and found it very good. Around and About It’s a steady, pleasant 15 minute walk down to the front, you can then walk for miles either way. Back up is either a walk or 3 euro taxi. Loads of cheap restaurants on the front, best value are just before the harbour where you can get a good English breakfast for 1.5 euros or 3 course meal for 6.5 – both very nice too. Conclusion A really enjoyable holiday with lovely weather for mid November. Would we go back? Yes, but only over the next couple of years. I just hope the management get their act together and don’t let this fantastic place deteriorate any further. Finally the building work. This is over the road behind the smaller block, It is just not a problem and I don’t see it effecting the hotel at all
This place is great!

This place is great! Me and my Husband flew out on 09 Nov 2004. Our booked hotel was The Nogal Beach but because of the heavy RAIN the only room left for us was damaged so they put us in the Ocean Palace. The rep thought we would be upset by this but the Ocean Palace compared to Nogal beach is a Palace! We were over the moon. We were sent the wrong way to our room by the receptionist and had to hunt for it, and with the Hotel being so big it took us some time! When we eventually got in we were very pleased. The room was big, bright, clean. A lovely welcome pack of water and fruit was waiting for us too. Our balcony was just about as big as our room and found out over the coming days that we had the sun from early morning till late afternoon. Great! There was building work going on which we were not warned about. We could hear it now and again but I would not say it bothered us really. We walked into town and it only took us about 10 mins. Everything you could possibly need is within easy reach. Las Americas and Los Christianos are close by too if you fancy a change. If you like English food while away pop in to Bentleys on the beach front. They do great breakfasts. Also The Royal Family Chinese is Fantastic only 15 euro for a banquet! Wow All in all we found the hotel fab. The area great. The pool clean. We did not eat there so can not coment but it always smelt nice! So if you are going to this hotel you are sure to have a great holiday.

19 oct to nov 02 this was our second year at the ocean palace and what a holiday it was again. We arrived on the tuesday night at about 8 o,clock we freshened up then went downstairs to the main bar we were recognized by the bar staff straight away.We also saw some people we met last year so a good time we were going to have again.Yes next day outside by the pool it was slippy again but when you know this you take care to avoid any accidents happening. Our kids loved to go to the kids club which gave us time on our own to enjoy the sun.The food was just the same(brill) thanks to conchita and claire we could not ask for any better. Now on to a different note the entertainment. We did not have the pleasure of meeting roy last year as he did,nt work there then.We did read a lot of reviews from other holiday makers who said he was arrogant, ignorant basically not avery nice bloke. How wrong they could be he was totally opposite he was funny a true professional at his job a great all round entertainer who could hold a audience with no nastinest involved at all.In the end he became a very good friend to myself, linda and our 2 children he is a credit to ocean palace and it would be a shame if he ever left he would be hard to replace.People don,t seem to understand how much work he puts in to his job which is no mean feat to keep everyone entertained both during the day and night and to say he hates kids "RUBBISH"keep your chin up mate you were brill!.Also another person who deserves a lot of credit is Becky a lovely girl who not only helped roy day and night but what a singer! I could go on all day you are all a credit to ocean palace and you all know who you are. As the saying goes "We will be back" Thank you all once again!
