Barcelo Bavaro Beach

The hotel was very well maintained and attended to. Food was plentiful but some items were questionalble. The weather was supposed to be at its best but we had rainy days. If you didn't know how to speak or understand Spanish you were at a loss. It was very hard to communicate with the hotel/restaurant staff since most only spoke Spanish. The tours offered were expensive and not worth the money. If you are going to Punta Cana, stay put and relax at your hotel. Do not venture off site.

Stayed at Bavaro Beach from 3/2/03 to 3/9/03 with three other couples. Went through Apple Vacations. I did read good and bad reviews before going, and decided to disregard the bad reviews because of the good price available for us. Should have thought about it more. Our rooms were supposed to be upgraded to ocean view and we wound up all the way at the rear of the place where the sanitation waste disposal is located. Not a good smell. Too many people and too many lines. High back chairs not available at the beach unless you are out early.... more

Had a fabulous time although next time would stay at the garden hotel. Our room was a little smelly, but left a note for the maid in spanish, and the next day had our bedspread and bedding changed. The food in the buffet was adequate, wasn't too thrilled with the food in the restaurants, but wasn't there for the food only. Had a great bartender at the garden pool side bar, always had a great smile and new exactly what we wanted without us telling him. I whent to this resort from march 4 - 11 2003 and i Loved it. When I arrived it was nice and hot and airport was just us the torists so we had a quick 20 minet bus ride with air conditioning of corse ro the resort. when i arrived at the resort we singed in and they people at the front dest were vary nice and then they gave us a yellow braselett that allows us to eat for free and get free drinks the bag person took our bags to our rooms (we had 2 we were 4) and then we went for a swim in the pool the water in vary warm and the pool is so... more

My girlfriend & I visited Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort in Punta Cana in December of 2002. The trip was great. The resort is really five resorts in one. The Barcelo Bravaro Beach Resort is comprised of the Bravaro Palace Resort, Beach Resort, Casino Resort, golf resort and the Garden view resort and the Barcelo Convention Center. I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort for one week in June 2002. We paid $700 per person, all inclusive. The grounds and the three pools were beautiful. Our room was ocean view and clean. The staff was excellent. Most speak at least a little English and appreciated our efforts at rudimentary Spanish. The beach was the most beautiful one I have been to - clean, white and hundreds of palm trees. Went to this resort Feb. 21st-28th, 2003. We had read reviews warning us about overbooking at the Beach resort. Checked with Sunquest the day before and e-mailed hotel manager Jorge Puentes to ensure our room would be available. Sunquest said they were not overbooked and Jorge wrote us back saying he would do his best to accomodate our request...ocean view and 4000 building. Myself and 3 girlfriends went here the week of Feb.17/03. What a blast we had!! Some useful tips:when you sign in, the front desk gives you a card to collect a towel with everyday. You must return your towel in order to get your card back. At the beginning of the week, we tipped the towel guy $20 and that way we had a lounge chair waiting for all four of us everyday. What a wonderful place, Punta Cana. The weather was great. The language barrier was difficult, but we made it through. Yes I have to say the food was different, but there was plenty of it. The only problem we had was with other vacationers, they were rude, pushing others out of their way so they could get to the food, but other than some minor things, I have to rate our 30th Anniversay vacation as Just Perfectly Wonderful. We rested and enjoyed the wonderful weather, a great place to relax and reconnect. We can't wait to go back.

It would have been nice to do a review of the Beach Resort (which is the resort I booked) but since when my family arrived I was told there were no rooms available at the Beach resort, and I would have to take rooms at the Garden Resort I can only review the horrible! treatment I received from the Beach Resort desk staff and the worst Signature Vacations rep. that I have ever had the displeasure of meeting.
