True Blue Bay Hotel

Stayed here last February but have only just got round to writing my review! We stayed for two weeks and absolutely loved it! We had a Bay View room which was nice but a little dated. It had everything you could possibly need though, including a full kitchen and a TV. The new rooms a little along from ours looked fantastic and I would definitely recommend asking for one of these. Breakfast every morning was bread, bagels, cake, fruit and jams - fine for setting you up for a day of lazing!! The hotel has two lovely pools and although its not on the beach they do this great shuttle service (using taxis) every day to Grand Anse - although we often asked to be dropped at Mourne Rouge (which we thought was a much nicer beach) and there was never any problem with this. It is also really easy to get buses from the roundabout just by the resort. Buses are so cheap and an absolute must do!! The staff are absolutely lovely from the girls at reception who knew our names from the moment we arrived to the taxi driver who we used all holiday who cooked us oildown in the restaurant on our last day to the lovely girls who came in every evening to turn down the bed and put little flowers on it!! We didn't really rate the restaurant that highly and found the food a bit unexciting and bland. But there are loads of brilliant restauarants in the area and the True Blue taxi drivers are cheap and really friendly. We tried some great local restauarants like Boots Cuisine and Rumours which did fantastic Grenadian food at really cheap prices. We also loved La Sagesse, Coconut Beach, Beach House and Mona Lisa. There's a dive place right on site and a great little bar for some sundowner rum punches! Overall a fantastic holiday in a lovely little hotel!

My family stayed at the True Blue from Dec 2 to 9th. The staff was wonderful - made us feel like family. My daughter was sad to leave them. The resort is not beachfront like those on Grand Anse bay but I enjoyed the pools after a day at the beach. We stayed in the Waterfront apartments which were spacious and gave us the room we needed when it rained during our stay. I recommend eating at the Coconut Beach Restaurant - the best value and great food too. We ate at the Rhodes restaurant which was beautiful but the service was stuffy. The Beach House was also beautiful and romantic but the wine list is so-so. The Tout Bagay was closed in St. George so instead we found a great lunch place - BB Crabhouse. The Red Crab was more of a bar than restaurant. The Aquarium Restaurant was fun and had a good Sunday BBQ. La Boulanagerie in Grand Anse was great for pizza for lunch and across from the beach. I would come back again to Grenada and visit the True Blue. If want beachfront all day long - I would recommend staying on Grand Anse beach but if you want relaxation visit True Blue.

We stayed at True Blue Bay at easter and loved it so much, when we got back we cancelled our trip to Dubai and Maldives to go back and did so for three weeks in august. We have just had the most wonderful holiday there again. True Blue Bay is a nice little hotel and the staff made you feel welcome the minute you get there. The rooms are the prettiest rooms I have stayed in anywhere. The food is very good at the hotel we eat at the hotel quite a few times and food was excellent, although we did hire a car for the whole time we were there and tried other restaurants. Our favourite being coconut beach and bel air plantation. The aquarium is really good for a sunday barbecue with live band. Also La Saggesse beach hotel does a fabulous fish lunch. We were there for carnival and had a great time, we went into St Georges on a catamaran so were right in the middle of all that was going on. it was fantastic. The dodgy dock bar at True Blue bay was closed, as they were rebuilding it which was a shame, as we had a great time there at easter, but never mind I am sure it will be finished soon before we go back. There wernt many people at hotel when we were there, most of the time we had the top pool to ourselves. The hotel has a yacht chartering company attached to it and we charted a yacht out for the day and what an expereience that was, the hotel made us a picnic and we went all up the west coast. and we certainly learnt some things about sailing. We will have to do it again for a couple of days next time. All in all a fantastic little hotel and a fantastic holiday.

There is always a moment when you arrive somewhere for a vacation when you pause and hope that everything will be nice: will it be like the propery's own web site? did the previous tripadvisor reviewers that you read when trying to decide where to go share your tastes?. So, having flown in from London and arriving on the island in slightly overcast weather we took a deep breath and hoped that all would be well. We need not have worried. The Reception staff made us feel thoroughly welcome; but still, would the room be ok? We had booked one of the tower rooms - it is hard to find too many details about them on the hotel's own web site, so it was a leap of faith in booking one. We were taken up to our "tower" (Azure 37), it was wonderful! (big sighs of relief all round). Ivan had given the hotel the opportunity for some unplanned redevelopment and the three tower rooms are the result. The tower rooms are on the 1st floor (2nd floor if you number US style) and spread across two of the normal ground floor rooms - there is a large bed room / living area / kitchenette and a separate bathroom with shower & jacuzzi style bath. The bed is very comfortable. The kitchenette is well equiped. Outside there is a private shaded balcony with chairs and a sun lounger. The balcony gives a clear view out across the bay and the upper pool (if you stay in either of the other two tower rooms you still have good views, but the bay view is slightly obscured - the three tower rooms are set back from one another in a staggered row). A small spiral stair case takes you up to a private viewing tower - complete with comfortable wooden chairs and a telescope(!). We travelled with our eleven year old son, so the steps up and down were not a problem. Getting smaller children up and down might be more of a challenge. We only used the upper pool, and I don't think we saw anybody using the lower 'infinity' pool during our entire stay. The Restaurant on site is pleasant enough, sited just above the water on the bayside. Service is relaxed - tending to be more 'relaxed' in the morning when the restuarant manager wasn't about! The room rate includes a breakfast - fruit, coffee/tea/milk, cereals, bagel/breads. Cooked items would cost extra. We ate lunch at the restaurant a few times, but generally we generally made something in the room (having bought supplies at the supermarket at Grande Anse - no shops in walking distance). We ate dinner in the restaurant a few times, but generally ate out (Rhodes at the Calabash was very nice). The hotel runs a complementary shuttle to Grand Anse Beach (there is no real beach on site). This will take you down in the morning and bring you back in the afternoon. A taxi would cost around ECD35 each way. The Dodgy Dock & Stuart's bar were closed for refurbishment when we where there. As a Diver one of the major benefits of the location is have the Dive Centre onsite. A well run operation with another location on Grand Anse beach. For Europeans it is worth noting that the Dive Centre has metric gauges available - one less thing to worry about when 30m under the water! There is a Yacht Agency onsite - it is possible book a crewed yatch for the day, with the hotel providing a packed lunch. Nice way of visiting a few bays and seeing the island from the water. Did we like it? Yes we did.

Just returned from a WONDERFUL WEEK at the True Blue Bay Resort. Russ and his staff made us feel welcome right from the start with their Monday night reception. The free drinks and appitizers were quite a treat and we got well acquainted with two other couples at the resort that evening. The food was excellent at the True Blue Resturant, where we dinned three nights. Great food was also to be found at Da Big Fish and The Red Crab located nearby. Our True Blue room was one of the smallest on the property, but wonderfully appointed with a king size bed, full tub and shower, and kitchenette. The kitchenette was a great addition and well equiped, which made it easy for us to buy local foods and cook our own meals. We received free continental breakfst every morning. The coffee was EXCELLENT! We were able to rent our car right at the resort and drop it off at the airport. Both pools were beautiful. The upper pool was used mostly by adults, while the lower bay pool was most frequented by families. We thought our accomidations were above average and very affordable. The location right on the bay can not be beat! Beautiful views of St.Georges University. We could not use our Verizon cell phones in Grenada, though we had been told by Verizon that they would work there. (Others did not seem to have any trouble with their cell phones working.) Learning to drive on the opposite side of the road proved a little challenging, but the drivers on the island were very forgiving of our errors. Not the greatest roads and no street names, but you can ask anyone how to get some place and they are more than happy to tell you. Don't forget your departure tax at the airport: $50 EC or $20 US, cash only. Over all, a wonderful, warm, relaxing vacation!

Stayed here for 2 weeks in October 2005, mainly for the on site dive centre, and can easily rate it as one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. From the moment we checked in we were made to feel special. Despite what has been said in previous reviews the breakfasts were OK, what do people (mainly Americans it has to be said) expect from a continental breakfast. Generally the food is very good (try out the Mexican night particularly) and the service in the restaurants and bar is excellent, the staff enjoy making you happy and go out of their way to achieve this. The rooms are all you need, after all, they are only for sleeping in and the room I had, had an excellent bathroom together with a good view of the bay from the balcony. The Aquanauts Dive Centre which is on site can also be highly recommended for their professionalism, and the dive sites are good too,( I am PADI Advanced Open Water and have dived all over the world). I would personally rate this hotel very highly, and will go again on my next visit to the island.

We stayed at True Blue for 3 nights at the end of November. Accessibility from the airport is a snap and all of the staff at True Blue was friendly and welcoming. Water pressure at the resort was a huge issue the whole time we were there - many times we had NO water. Our room was spacious and very clean with a huge balcony. Complimentary bottled water in the fridge was nice to see. The pool area down by the water is OK with a few chairs slanted heavily in the sand so there is really no flat area to position a lounge chair. The bar and restaurant is in a nice setting with a pretty view - but make sure you load up with bug spray before going out at night! Buffet breakfast is weak but you can order off the menu if you want for an additional charge. There are 2 good places you can walk to from the resort. Da Big Fish and Bananas are both within a half mile walk. We checked out both of them for lunch and dinner and found both to have a lively and upbeat atmosphere (especially Bananas late at night). We also walked up to St. Georges University and used their health club and basketball court - nobody seemed to mind and it's a really beautiful campus if only just for taking a walk. Overall, ok resort but I wouldn't go back.. there are too many other places to see!

We stayed at True Blue at the end of October for a family holiday.We had booked one of the Villas and these are excellent and to be recommended especially for those with families. We were able to sit on the balcony watching the kids playing in the pool. It was great as well to let the kids roam free knowing they were safe. The rooms were well looked after and we were spoilt with all the space in the 2 storey villa. We eat in the restaurant a couple of times and again it is to be recommended with excellent food and service. The only quibble the beer is served in plastic glasses. The only downside to True Blue is the lack of beach and the water in the bay is not the best for swimming in - this was not a problem for us and we are not bothered about beaches. We had a very relaxing holiday which is unusual with kids and yes we would return wthout hesitation which is the best form of recommendation.

Stayed at the True Blue for one week from the 24th November 2005. Fantastic place, ideal for the perfect getaway. A haven of tranquility is what I'll call it. Layout of the resort is excellent. I was given one of the Indigo Rooms which had a great view of the bay. The room was clean and spacious. How nice it was to be welcomed to my room with fresh flowers from the garden just outside my door! The staff were ever so friendly and helpful, from the girls at the front desk to the ladies who cleaned my room each day. The food and entertainment were also great. Highly recommended! Very pretty spot, wonderful design for a Hotel, so has ability to create very tranquil feeling, the wait staff also extremely pleasant. Did not appreciate that the stuff that has run down, are not being attended to, broken steps, electronics not working and not repaired, and most importantly did not appreciate being hounded about bill constantly despite having given credit card when i checked, made hotel seem cheap and money hungry.....
