La Haut - a local treasure
I booked up to go to La Haut with Virgin holidays after reading all the brilliant reviews on Trip Advisor. I chose to ignore the comments from one member from London and make up my own mind, and I was so pleased. I simply cannot understand these negative comments. Yes, La Haut is remote and lacks gyms, satelite TVs and 10 different restaurants - thank goodness! This is clear if you read the webpage, and with a daily shuttle down to town or the beautiful Anse Chastenet beach you should never be bored. Rooms are very clean, with fresh... more
Unbeatable view in a relaxed setting
We are an American couple in our early forties with two children (9 and 11 years old) and spent two nights at La Haut Plantation in mid August following a 5 night stay at the Jalousie Plantation. We have lived in Europe for the last 20 years and travel extensively. We enjoy getting to know local people, eat local food and explore local traditions wherever we go- so the idea of staying at La Haut appealed to us. We chose La Haut because we wanted to stay in a smaller, more intimate setting than a resort while still benefiting from the... more
You just have to lighten up! This Place Rocks!
For myself, the La Haut (la-ho) experience, it is difficult to put into words. I would advise that any travelers leave thier expectations and real lives at the gate. You just have to lighten up and go with the island flow! I dont know about everyone, but I go to islands to relax and immerse myself in True Culture. You will definitley experience this at La Haut. Strange, Funny Things about La Haut: A virtual orchestra of birds and other animals the second the sun comes up. A pack of German Shepards-- they were nice to us-- the... more
Fawlty Towers
Great location shame about the begrudging attitude of the staff, poor service, lack of attention to detail, cockroaches, lack of facilities, poor maintenance and being stuck if it rains with nothing to do and watch out for the German Sheppards. There seems to be little re-investment in the hotel, but if you look down the hill at the owners dream home that is being built at least you can appreciate from afar what your money is probably being spent on. The only good thing about the place was the food - but it's served up by John Cleese &... more
Management response from oxymoron10

Thank you for your comments as they help us to improve our service and we sincerely regret you failed to enjoy your stay with us. We also are surprised that you never brought any of these concerns to our attention via the comment form. As a small property we make a concerted effort to ensure that our guests are well informed about the kind of property we are. Unfortunately this was apparently not done in your case. For that we are sorry because it is not in our interests to host guests who are unhappy with our facilities. Your comments about lack of investment in the hotel is surprising when in July four rooms were repainted and refurbished, outside main building and apartment were repainted and air-conditioning units installed in three other rooms. The upmarket expansion used for weddings and special occassions down the hill is still incomplete except for the disappearing edge pool which is available exclusively for the use of our guests. Thank you for mentioning that our food was good, and we apologise if the staff failed to attend to your needs.

Warm staff, beautiful setting
My husband and I stayed at La Haut for a week in Spring 2005. First, the setting. It is beyond gorgeous. The hotel is set high on a hill overlooking Soufriere town, the volcano, and the pitons. I could just sit and look at it all day. The property is profuse with flowering plants and trees and is well-kept. You'll also see goats and a few other farm animals if you walk around the property. Second, the staff. What a wonderful group of people. I have never felt so much warmth from hotel staff. One of the waitresses even... more
wow!!!
my stay at la haut was amazing, i mean i will remember my 7 nights at la haut for as long as i live. My only regret was not having told Ms. Trecy that she is very beautiful, personality out of this world, smile to shine light throught the darkest night, wow, if ever i return to St.Lucia i will stay longer at la haut plantation, might even tell Ms. Trecy how i feel about her, or not......
Gorgeous Views, Great Food
We loved La Haut. Stayed here the second half of our vacation and if we came here first wouldn't have left. Gorgeous location with friendly staff. As they were not fully booked we were upgraded to a better room at no additional charge. Breakfast is included in the price and you can order anything you want off the menu, eggs, omelets, french toast etc. Dinner menu was also excellent and reasonably priced. Took advantage of the free shuttle they offer to either town or Anse Chastanet. Beautiful housekeeping with fresh flowers and fruit... more
La Haut, great choice for independent honeymoon in Soufriere
The view of the Pitons from this small plantation inn has to be seen to be believed. La Haut compares extremely well to other small "Piton view" inns in the area, especially considering the room rates. We liked our room (#3) with wide plank floors, king bed, fridge, high ceilings, rocking chairs and French doors onto a great balcony with romantic gingerbread trim. They left fresh flowers with our new towels every day. The gardens are pleasant, full of flowers, hummingbirds and tropical fruit trees. I could sit in the pool and gaze at the... more
Fantastic experience at La Haut
Just returned from a 10-day stay at La Haut Plantation with my husband and our 10-year old daughter. Couldn't have asked for a nicer, more peaceful or gracious experience. Our room was lovely, with high, beamed ceilings and a porch with fantastic views of the Pitons. In fact, I would venture a guess that the resort has the best, picture-postcard view of the Pitons on the entire island. It is high enough in the hills to be free of bugs and always has a nice cool breeze in the evenings. No a/c necessary. We had the pools to ourselves,... more
Definitely go here
Our room was spectacular! The views of the Pitons and ocean were simply beautiful! Room rates include a full breakfast and you get to select your meal from the menu. The restaturant has scenic views and very friendly staff. We tried a few dinners and a few breakfasts. All were wonderful! Have the coconut chicken. The staff gives you a tour of the old working plantation which surrounds your room. This hotel feels like home. You could stay here for days and still explore new things. The rooms were clean and had fresh fruit from the... more
