The hotel Kyjev fit the bill to a tee. A hotel of faded charm that had something about it from its dated decor, the ambience. The rooms were extremely basic with little in the way of luxury - but that was to be expected. The beds were comfortable - hot and cold running water available and an ideal location in the centre of town close to the nightlife and Tescos.
The city itself is very picturesque, much like many in Eastern Europe and has a certain charm. The town has been inundated with stag parties and I am sure that some of the locals are terribly happy about that - many parties were refused entry at some of the night spots. However, our group was relatively sober and we generally received a warm and friendly welcome where-ever we went.
