An Italian translation book is essential, especially eating out and for any form of public transport, the city of Rome is expensive and you can be easily ripped off, it's not as tourist friendly as you thought it might be either. Dining was a disappointment, the food was not impressive at all - a huge let down. You’d think their pasta and pizza would be the best you'd ever tried but it was the worst!
However having said all that the history and ancient ruins of the city are something to be seen and admired.
I recommend a holiday here if you have the money to throw around and know a bit of Italian otherwise expect to struggle a bit.

I thought this hotel would be ideal for our honeymoon but how wrong was I?
The reviews I read said the hotel was 20 mins from Rome city. Well I suppose in a taxi at 30euro each way it would be but in reality it was 2 trains and a bus ride away which used up the 75 min ticket we purchased.
I enjoyed the city but was totally surprised with the quality of the food on offer. There was no big fancy Italian restaurants with lots of choice, just a back street pizzeria offering the same menu and at the same ridiculous prices.
I didn't go with blinkers on - I expected it to be expensive but was not impressed with the food on offer.
Due to the distance from the hotel to the hotel we weren't wanting to travel in the dark so were totally disappointed when the hotel bar was closed every night. The situation of the hotel also meant that it was a good 20 min walk before we got to a shop to buy water for the room.
