Halcyon Palm Apartments

Very basic but exceptionally clean. The maid service was excellent with the apartment being cleaned every other day along with the beds being changed and the towels in the bathroom. The journey to the resort was horrendous as we travelled with XL airways. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. We were not told that we had to stop at Manchester to pick up other passengers and were told at the airport that we would only be there for half an hour. We were there for 2 hours with nothing to eat or drink and the staff were awful. Very rude, food dreadful cabin dirty. We had to upgrade to first class on the way home as it was the only way we would get on the plane.
Halcyon Palm is a great place to stay with wonderful staff but fly with Virgin or BA.

My husband and I found the accommodation very good and suitable for our needs. The maid service was excellent and reception staff were very helpdul and polite. The pool was adequate and there was a larger pool on the main site.
The downside is the the hotel is not child friendly. The two games provided at the hotel are table football and pool. Neither of these was accessible to children aged 7 and younger due to the height and adult equipment. Most of the time the two facilities were occupied by men within a smoky environment. There was no evening entertainment apart from a TV on the wall on the news or sport channel. A very male dominated atmosphere in the communal area that served snacks and not very welcoming to females.
Would go back again though.

Very basic, but very clean, staff all great. We in fact stayed in Halycon Palm, this had a small pool, but suited us.
Some mornings we had monkeys running around, so always have a couple of bananas hanging around.
The site was very near to everything, a fantastic supermarket, which if you have a lot of shopping, they have a free mini bus and they will run you back.
We didn’t have any problems when we stayed there, and would go back.
One very big problem in XL Airways, don’t ever book with this airline, the eight and a half hour flight leaving Gatwick, turns out TWELVE hours long, as it goes to Manchester first to pick other holiday makers up, the joke is my holiday company didn’t tell us this and only found out when checking in at Gatwick, it put a big damper on the start and finish of our holiday.
The staff were awful, the service not much better. The food awful might add we got on the aircraft at 9am.and was offered sausage and mash, wait for it at 3pm,to get a glass of water was like asking for gold, not to bad for us but some poor people with small children it was hell, and before I ever booked any holiday again ,which I have just came back from my third trip always check it’s not XL Airways.
Apart from that have a great holiday in Barbados.
