Central Krabi Bay Resort Hotel

We stayed in Central Kraby Resort and all we can say is it's a fantastic Resort. The staff is great and the deluxe spa room with a jaccuzzi in the balcony is superb! The Hotel is not yet fully operational, with some constructions still going on, but the staff and some added bonus that the Hotel gives you, make your stay a wonderful experience. We've just got back in the last week from having spent amongst other places, 8 nights at the CKBR. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing resort that was secluded enough to given peace and quiet for those who wanted to relax, but also only a few minutes away on a boat from shopping and bars etc in Ao Nang. I stayed here for a week with my girlfriend in May 2006 as the second half of a two-week trip (first week was in Layana resort - see my review). Having thought for a while about what to write, I would say that it is a nice hotel but my limited experience of the Far East suggests you could do better given the high cost. Covering off the completion of the hotel, they are still doing work but it does not detract in any way from your stay there. We stayed at the hotel 3 nights in may. We reserved through the central website without a problem and got a Spa-Deluxe-Ocean-Facing-The-Club room for a good price. The hotel as a whole is very nice. The rooms, the reception, the restaurants even the poolarea are very well designed and very luxurious. We were members of the club and it worked very well with a very friendly staff. Our first trip to Ao Nang and it was exactly what we wanted - beautiful scenery, laid back, friendly and not over commercialized. We stayed in a deluxe club room. Good points :- 1. Location - you can stay in your own secluded, private bay of the CKBR or a quick, free 5min boat ride will take you into Ao Nang for the good choice of bars & restaurants. 2. My wife, me and our 4 years old son stayed at Central Krabi for 4 nights. Let´s take it from start. The Hotel has a reception center at Ao Nang which is very beautiful , the sraff very polite and friendly and it´s very relaxing after the trip. A mini van get us and take us to Nopparatha Pier where a boat take you to the hotel. After experiencing problems with rooms at the Tubkaak, we moved here after doing a quick 'site visit' by walking over from Ao Nang. And we're so glad we did! The hotel may not quite be finished and there may be a few service glitches but we can only advise getting in here at the current low rates while you can. We spent 5 days at the Central Krabi Bay Hotel and wished it had been more. The advertised amphibious vehicle for transfers was not being used so you needed to wear shorts whenever you wanted to go to Ao Nang - as wading into the sea was the only way. Also the boat only goes to Ao Nang every 2-3 hrs which can be inconvenient. However, a local boat back only costs 200 baht. The Central may, someday, be a great hotel in Krabi. The biggest draw back at this point is that fact it is not finished. The second draw back is the isolation from everything else, although this can be a benefit if that is what you are looking for. Service is very good for the most part with couple of noticeable exceptions being attributed mostly to language issues. This may get better as time goes on. We booked only one night at this resort as we were rather hesitant with it not being fully operational. Well, we need not have worried. It was absolutely wonderful! The review on Mar 13 just abt echoes what we felt too. We booked a spa package which included a massage and a spa lunch for two.
