St Ives has a very relaxed atmosphere, although it can be very busy during the peak season. The local food is great and so are the beaches. Plenty of small shops to visit and there’s a few small pubs.
Not recommended for party people but a nice place to visit if you have children, if you are into surfing or if you’re over 60. Most of the hotels are fully booked a good 6 months before peak season (June /September) so you need to plan ahead if your hoping to find somewhere decent to stay and if you do find somewhere the rates are very high and you could probably find a holiday abroad for a cheaper price and guaranteed sunny weather.
But if you’re looking for a relaxing holiday in the UK and cash isn't a problem then St Ives is worth considering.

We've just stayed here and it wasn't a great experience. Very damp, musty smell throughout, had to spend an hour cleaning on arrival because the floor and other areas of the flat were very dirty. Very uncomfortable mattress.
Everything in the flat is to a very basic standard.
The apartments are described as modern - but it was a long time ago since they could fairly be described as modern.
It's not anywhere like as cosy as it looks in the photos! The furniture is different and don't expect any of the fresh flowers.
No carpet throughout - just extremely noisy wood flooring.
You don't get any welcome, anyone checking everything is okay, but someone stands over you at 10am to make sure you depart on the dot.
On a positive note - the view is stunning! It's not expensive and it's great to have parking!
And of course St Ives is absolutely wonderful.
