Crowne Plaza Muscat Hotel

The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, on a cliff with its own private beach area and with great views over the public beach. We had booked a double room but changed it to a room with a balcony when we arrived as the room was very small. In my opinion the rooms weren't worth the money and I am sure that ours hadn't been cleaned properly as there were small patches of dried tomato on the carpet!
The beach was lovely and you can wade out in the water for ages and it is still only up to your waist. The hotel pool is nice too but not very big. We stayed just for the weekend (thur/fri) and there was some confusion over the times that they served alcohol as it changed on a Friday so check this out if alcohol is an important factor to you.
The restaurant food was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I would advise that you check your bill as we had 2 wrong items on ours but the manager was happy to sort it out without a fuss having to be made.
My main gripe with this hotel was the length of time it took to be served. Ordering drinks in the restaurant was a slow process and we would still be waiting 20 minutes later. After we had asked for our food bill it took half an hour before it arrived. On our last day we wanted a coffee before we left the hotel and so we visited the cafe close to the reception. Again we had to wait half an hour before they found a member of staff that could serve us.
Muscat itself we didn't get to see as most of it was closed! However we had a good drive around.
We enjoyed our weekend and Muscat was nice but I wouldn't stay at the Crowne Plaza again unless they reassured me that their service had become much quicker.
